The Devil Horns Ride Again! A Rockin’ Jan/Feb TR New PTR Link 10/13!

Jim is a fan of heavy metal music (can anyone figure out his favorite band by checking out the names of our two oldest dogs)
Haha, that's great. You'll have to get another furbaby and name him "Sammy".

I am horrible at selfies but I did try the “we are excited to go to Disney” one once we boarded the plane.

I actually think that's a good picture of you two. You're too hard on yourself.

I am amazing how much luck you have with timing. Almost all of your TRs show you being ahead of schedule. :)

P.S. Love the new car. That's about the same size SUV we're looking into.

Yay! Joining in! My husband and I met at a metal fest, but now that I think on it - he didn't throw the horns once on our whole trip in 2014. No, wait....not true. He threw them on Star Tours, which we rode 11 times.

Can't wait to read along!

Welcome! Thanks for joining in. Ugh, I can't ride Start Tours even once (motion sickness) let alone 11 times!

Here! Now to read!

D~

Hi D~!

OK... All caught up... I love your new car! About a week after you got it, the girls and I saw one, and I was way more excited to see a car than I should have been... I remember telling them that was the car you just got... It's such a nice size! I can imagine myself driving a car that size once they go off to college.

So glad Remy didn't run off, that would have been so horrible! I did lol about you getting wrapped up... That's me with MM and SC!

Glad ME was easy and buses were good for you... And very happy you got the building you requested.

Hehehe... I was chosen to be security checked soooo often! It did get old after a while, but I understood.

You and Jim are so cute! I love that photo in front of SSE! I can't wait to hear about the rest of the trip.

D~

I've only seen one other Trax on the road besides mine and I was super excited when I did see it. It was kind of that way when I got my Equinox but now you see those everywhere.

None of my dogs except Alex are good on a leash so it's always a challenge taking them any where.

We actually didn't get chosen as much for the security check as I thought we would. I think it was only once for me and twice for Jim.

Here :)
I'll be following along from my phone, but probably won't post much. My only chance to DIS is my lunch break and it doesn't allow much time.
Love the intro. We are considering CBR for next trip, so I'm interested to see it!

Hi Suzi! I totally understand about not wanting to comment from your phone, it's not easy. I'm just glad you are here following along. I love CBR, so convenient to the parks. It is a little big but if you stay in Jamaica or Aruba it's not bad at all.

Great start to your trip

Thanks and welcome!

I'm here! Oh boy two trip reports at once you have your hands full!

Nice new car! I love the color. My mom has the same antenna topper but it's not on her car currently.

Anyways, looks like you had a nice arrival at the Wonderful World of Walt Disney. Great PP pictures as well!

I've actually had three going at once in the past so hopefully I can handle two!

We did have a nice easy arrival day despite the rain.

Nice start! Love the new car! I have a 2013 Equinox and love it but I have seen the Trax recently, those are nice too.

You made great time to be able to be at Epcot in 2 hours.

Cute Tink Magic Shot!

Thanks! Since we don't have kids, the Equinox was just too much car for me. I do love my Trax!

I love the new Magic Shots with that are short movies!

That is the BEST picture of you and Jim! We were just taliking about you guys last night. Gabe jsut LOVES Jim, and he talks all the time about the cool people that got him the Sith book! Let us know next time you make plans to visit Nash-Vegas! Also, we need to chat sometime about maybe meeting up for dinner on our way back home in October. Not sure yet what time we plan to leave Orlando. I will let you know when we get it all worked out.

Cute selfies! Gotta love the devil horns! Hmmmm... should we call these Ari-ima repors? Ari-ima trips always have the devil horns! LOL!

Hi Connie! I know I love that picture of Jim and I. We got a few good ones this trip, I'm going to have a hard time picking just one to frame.

Awww, we miss you guys too! I wish we lived closer so we could do more together. I would absolutely love to meet for dinner in October, just let me know!

Ari-ima!! That made me :rotfl: Sounds like a nickname Carrie Anne would have come up with.

Glad you've started your TR and to hear that is was your best trip with Jim!

Sounds like all pre-travel and travel things went smoothly. Loving the selfies :)

Those Epcot PP pictures came out awesome!

Jim is definitely getting there. He's already talking about wanting to go back, maybe next year. I'm happy he's finally on board.

Everything went very smoothly that first day.

Still reading your last TR but glad to see a new one!

Thanks and welcome! I still have a long way to go on the other one, I may even finish this one first since it was a short trip.

I'm here, and on the first page (I think!)

Comments without the quoted photos, because it was so many great photos!

*Nice Car!
*Sorry about the dogs, but I'm sure it was comical to the ladies at the boarding check-in.
*Ha! Your photo of the Disney sign is much better than the view I had when we got there--we were in the back also, and I really couldn't see it at all. :(
*Barbados bus stop--that was our stop for our trip, and it was a good one!
* Love the photo of Jim's Birthday button with the water drops!!!
*Nice photopass photos--also like the magic shot--I never did get a tinkerbell one when I was there--Next time!

Glad you had a great trip! I'm looking forward to reading about your adventures.

Hi! And yes you made the first page.

I probably did give those ladies at the vet a good laugh although I'm sure they've seen it all.

I've been lucky enough to sit in the front seat on DME so I have some nice sign photos. I didn't worry too much about getting a good one this time.

We had great bus luck at CBR this time, no problems at any of the stops.

I'm here to read. Loved seeing the pictures on fb, now I get to hear about the details behind them.

Love your new car. Glad your topper matched.

Loved the photopass photos. Haven't seen one where Tinkerbelle was flying above before.

Hi and welcome! Glad you enjoyed the Facebook photos. I did post quite a few there but I have a lot more I didn't post.

I got the Tinkerbell one a few times in November but I may not have gotten that far yet in that report.

YAY!
Oh hi..it's me..I'm back again...
FINALLY lol

Great start to the TR! Loving the pictures, and YOU ARE KILLING IT by being in the park 2 hours after TOUCH DOWN?! Geeze! I'm lucky if I make it to the resort by that time! Love the photopass pictures too, cute video!!

Katt!!! Hi! It's been a long time, I thought you had left the DIS for good. So glad to see you back and posting again.

We did have some of the best luck with transportation that first day.

Hooray….another trip report!! I can’t believe that little rascal jumped out of the car on you – my heart would have been in my knees; thank goodness the pup was close by – crisis averted J We absolutely LOVE CBR. We’ve stayed there 3 times now and our preference has always been Jamaica – you just can’t beat the return bus service (1st stop majority of the time!).

Hi! Believe me I was super panicked when he ran on me. Alex will listen and he did stop but not Remy, he just wants to explore everything. Thank goodness he didn't go far.

This was my second stay there and both have been in Jamaica. I think I would like Aruba too.

Yay, yay, yay, another devil horn filled TR :) Since we're friends now, let me just tell you, the title of your original devil horn TR drew me in and was the whole reason I started reading trip reports in the first place!!! I absolutely LOVED when you messaged me that first devil horn selfie--it came when I was having such a bad day, and definitely gave me reason to smile!

The PP at Epcot sure did get an awesome picture of you and Jim. I love it!! Hope you framed it already because it's totally adorable!

Hi Jackie! Awwww, so happy that my crazy title was able to draw you in to reading trip reports. And glad that you enjoyed the Devil Horns photo I sent you.

Not yet but I will eventually. I didn't buy a frame this trip or the last one because I have them all! I was hoping for some new designs this last trip but nothing. I may have to look for some Disney ones from other locations.

We've stayed at the BC many times and the buses always stop at the CBR first, then BWI, BC and YC.

You made good time. Too bad it was raining.

That is a really nice picture of the two of you. :)

Ah, OK. Not sure why I thought the buses always stop at the deluxes first. That did happen to us when we stayed at POR so maybe that's why I thought it.

Luckily this was the only rain we had to deal with all trip.

Following along! Your new car is so cute. I love your topper. Just thought I'd give you a heads up though about the Mickey antennas, my mom had one and she loved it. She walked out of a store and it was gone, stolen. She was so disappointed. She did get a replacement and just would take it off before going in and out of stores, but sometimes forgot to take it off. Well that one was stolen too. I hope yours stays safe.
Your picture I front of Spaceship Earth is darling. You two make a cute couple.

Hi! Thanks, I love my new car. I've never had a problem with my antenna toppers being stolen. Having an SUV probably helps because I have to climb up on the bumper a little to reach it. So that probably helps to deter someone from stealing it.

Im behind at some point i will get caught up!

Hi Mo! No worries, I totally understand. I know how busy you are right now.

Hanging Out With Our Favorite Characters

We started back towards the Land building so I could get a snack but we were immediately side tracked when we saw Pluto out with no line at all. There was only one family in front of us so it was only a minute until we were meeting him.

He noticed my bag right away and loved it.

We posed as dogs with him which was fun.

We had a really great time with Pluto and then moved onto Sunshine Seasons. I looked around a bit but ended up getting my favorite Chocolate Mousse Cake to hold me over till dinner. Jim said he wasn’t hungry so he sat and watched me eat.

I thought about hopping on Living with the Land afterwards but it actually had a bit of a line so instead we headed towards the Innovations building and the Visa Meet and Greet. I’ve done this greet multiple times and it has always been Mickey and Goofy. This day was no exception. Mickey was cute, he loved my Pluto bag and both he and Goofy had to point themselves out on my shirt.

Everything else in the Innovations building was closed but we wandered through it anyways since it was still raining outside. I’m glad we did because we came across Snow White meeting inside. She was very cute and talked to Jim about the “red birds” on his shirt. She told us that blue birds had helped her fix her hair that morning.

We exited the building and headed over to Mouse Gears to shop a bit. I was thinking about a new Dooney purse but hadn’t decided if I really was going to buy one. I already have a Dooney and the one I was looking at was similar. I did see one with the pattern placement I wanted in Mouse Gears but decided to think about it some more. I really did not need two expensive purses. Jim spent some time looking through the Star Wars stuff but also didn’t purchase anything at that time.

We talked for a few minutes about what to do next. We had a Test Track FP for 5 pm but with the rain it was most likely going to be cancelled. We had found out that TT had been down the whole day because of the weather. We decided to head towards World Showcase and not worry about the FP. Even if it was up and running neither of us wanted to ride it in the rain.

We saw Daisy out in the spot where Duffy used to be and once again the line was short. It was only sprinkling a little at this point so we got in line. She did have to step out for a minute to make a phone call to Donald but she was back very quickly. I don’t think we waited more than 10 minutes.

Daisy was cute, she pointed out Donald on my shirt and also admired Jim’s Donald Magic Band. If you notice in the picture, Jim was wearing both his Donald MB and the Grey one he got with our package.

Jim saw some more Star Wars stuff in the store right across from the Daisy meet so we went in there to look around. He didn’t find anything Star Wars he wanted but he did find a Remy pin. I think these were left over from Food and Wine.

We headed on into the Mexico pavilion and I was finally able to get my camera out and take a few pictures. Of course the first thing we did was get in line for Donald since he’s Jim’s favorite. I took pictures while we waited.

Donald also noticed himself on my shirt and checked out Jim’s Magic Band. I was happy that I managed to meet all four characters on my shirt that afternoon.

And that was the conclusion of our character hunt for the day.

I love that the rain didn't slow you down (with the exception of that TT FP). The pictures with Pluto are fabulous, and I love the picture of you hugging Mickey! We missed the VISA meet and greet our last trip, but have been lucky twice before that having three characters (Mickey, Goofy and Minnie). Were you able to meet anyone from Star Wars this trip?? I'm jumping the gun, I bet I'll just have to wait!! :)

That Ratatouille pin is totally adorable!! I haven't been sucked in to the D&B Disney bags yet, but the one planned for Flower & Garden this year with Figment on it is sorely tempting me....

I finally made it over and am all caught up. Jim must drive like a madman to make it in 20 minutes. I despise driving in Atlanta traffic and am always scared to death.

Way to get going as soon as you get to Walt Disney World! It looks like the trip is off to a great start!

Great pics with Pluto- great way to start your time in Epcot!

Cute pics at the Visa greet. I've actually never gotten Mickey in there!

Wow so cool that you stumbled upon Snow White!

You guys were on a roll with characters! Great pics with Daisy and Donald.

Great photos with Pluto!

We missed the Disney Visa meet and greet this January but i have always had Mickey and Goofy too.

It just so happens Jim and I have the same magicband!

I am loving your report!!!
the picture of the two of you in front of SE is the best!!! So cute you had Pluto doing your favorite pose too!
Not so happy with Daisy being in Duffy's spot.. Still upset about the whole situation!

Sorry about the rain. But you two are having a great time anyway!!

OK need to get through 217 emails! TALK SOON!

I am definitely ordering those character magic bands for us! My BFF and I are going to make t-shirts for the five of us, each with a Fab Five character on it. So I want to get everyone the magic band to match the character they will be wearing. I think that will be fun. I am thinking those will be great for Easter baskets this year!

What fun character meets you had! I am excited for the Visa meet and greets. This is our first time going to the parks as Disney Visa cardholders!! Is Epcot the only park with the Visa M&G area? Any other cardholder perks I should know about?

I'm here! It's great that your travel day went smoothly and on schedule!

That rain must have been a downer but I really love the pictures of you two in front of Spaceship Earth!

Wow, afternoon full of characters! And very fun meet with Pluto!!

Somehow I missed this reply when I did them before. Sorry!

Haha, that's great. You'll have to get another furbaby and name him "Sammy".

I am amazing how much luck you have with timing. Almost all of your TRs show you being ahead of schedule. :)

P.S. Love the new car. That's about the same size SUV we're looking into.

I did try to talk Jim into naming Sierra "Sammy" but he is more of a Dave fan. Our first baby was Haley as in "Van Haley" but we didn't continue the tradition when we got Sierra or Remy.

I do have some of the best luck with timing. I've never had more than a five minute wait for DME and the buses are usually pretty good. We did have one bad time at Coronado Springs. That was during the original Devil Horns trip.

Thanks, I love my new Trax! It's the perfect size for me.

Nope, we don't ever let the rain slow us down! I couldn't imagine paying the prices for those tickets and then sitting in your room because of a little rain. I've never had 3 characters before, it's always been Mickey & Goofy. I so want it to be Pluto one of these times. We did see some Star Wars characters but that wasn't until Sunday at HS.

That Ratatouille pin is totally adorable!! I haven't been sucked in to the D&B Disney bags yet, but the one planned for Flower & Garden this year with Figment on it is sorely tempting me....

I thought it was pretty cute too. And Jim was excited to find anything Ratatouille because that is his favorite Disney movie. I actually have three D&B. You'll have to wait till a bit to see if I added #4 to the collection.

I finally made it over and am all caught up. Jim must drive like a madman to make it in 20 minutes. I despise driving in Atlanta traffic and am always scared to death.

Way to get going as soon as you get to Walt Disney World! It looks like the trip is off to a great start!

Yes, he does drive like a madman! He scares the crap out of most people that ride with him. I should be used to it after 17 years but he still scares me sometimes. Me, I'm not a fan of the Atlanta traffic and luckily don't have to drive in it often. My job is the opposite direction of most of the traffic.

Other than the rain, the first day went really well!

Great pics with Pluto- great way to start your time in Epcot!

Cute pics at the Visa greet. I've actually never gotten Mickey in there!

Wow so cool that you stumbled upon Snow White!

I figured you wouldn't like Daisy being in Duffy's place. I know how much that upset Meg. But we did get some great photos all day. If I hadn't know better I would have thought you and your family were there thanks to all the rain. :rotfl2:

I am definitely ordering those character magic bands for us! My BFF and I are going to make t-shirts for the five of us, each with a Fab Five character on it. I love the idea of Fab Five Characters with matching MB! I think it will be super cute.

You can also use your Disney Visa during the Food & Wine Festival to get into the Chase Lounge (as long as the continue having it this year). It's on the top floor of the American Pavilion. You access it in between the entrance to the American Adventure and the store. They have free sodas, air conditioning and comfy seats. You can also purchase wine and beer. Mom and I went up there in 2014 and it was fun having a "secret" place to get out of the heat for a few minutes.

At HS there is currently a separate Visa Meet and Greet in Launch Bay for Kylo Ren. It's a lot shorter than the regular line. Jim and I used it during this trip but it was Darth Vader at that time. The entrance is a little hidden but there is a sign. Just ask if you can't find it.

And don't forget that if you spend over $50 at any store, you get a discount if you use your Disney Visa.

I'm here! It's great that your travel day went smoothly and on schedule!

That rain must have been a downer but I really love the pictures of you two in front of Spaceship Earth!

Wow, afternoon full of characters! And very fun meet with Pluto!!

It was a bit annoying that it was raining but we never let it stop us. The park was pretty empty so that was a bonus. And we got some great meets and photos that afternoon!

Splashing Our Way Through World Showcase Part 1

After we visited with Donald we decided to go on his ride. I was excited to see the new addition at the end but we’ll get to that in a minute. First some pictures.

I always like to take a picture of the hidden Mickey towards the end of the ride.

A few weeks after I was at WDW in November, animatronics of Panchito, Jose and Donald were added at the end of the ride. Previously there was just a screen there that showed a cartoon version of the trio. The animatronics were originally featured in the Mickey Mouse Revue which was located in Magic Kingdom where Mickey’s Philharmagic is now.

We then shopped around a bit in the Mexico pavilion. We checked out Arribas Brothers and also some of the colorful carved animals. Jim ended up buying a spicy sauce. He bought some from two different countries during the evening and I can’t remember which one he got in Mexico. I’ll share a photo of both a little later.

We walked out of the Mexico Pavilion and into a torrential downpour. We walked quickly to Norway but even still we were soaked from the knees down by the time we got there. Most of Norway was walled off but we went into the store to look around. We must have made two or three loops around the store trying to avoid going back out in the rain. Jim also posed with the big troll. I do hope they keep this guy around and don’t replace him with a Frozen troll or something else.

The rain finally let up a bit and we made a dash for China. We walked through the store but didn’t spend a whole lot of time. We still had a while till our dinner ADR so I suggested we go see the China movie. Since we didn’t have much else planned we went for it. There was about 10 minutes till show time so we checked out the Tomb Warriors in the lobby area.

The China movie is in the round and you stand the whole time although there are some railings to lean on. I snapped one quick picture before putting my camera away and watching the movie.

We both enjoyed the movie, Jim loves to watch travel shows so it was very interesting to him. I’ve seen it twice now and probably don’t need to see it again.

We were both starving at this point and despite the fact that we were still about a ½ hour early for our ADR Jim decided to try to check us in. Where were we eating this evening?

Biergarten is one of Jim’s favorite restaurants at WDW. Me, not so much. I have a hard time because I don’t like sausage and cannot eat pork due to some stomach issues. Last time we ate here, I barely found enough to eat. But I wanted to keep Jim happy so I made the reservation. I figured I could grab a snack on the way out of the park if I was still hungry.

We were able to check in early and we found a bench to sit on to wait. The area near the restaurant was under a roof and was packed. The rest of the pavilion was deserted thanks to the rain.

We only waited about 10 minutes before being called. If you don’t already know, Beirgarten has communal tables that seat 8 so you will be seated with other guests. We had a mother/daughter pair, and older couple and a young couple on their honeymoon. Funny thing, we were all from the south. We ended up talking to the mother/daughter most of the meal. Much better than our first experience when our seat mates barely acknowledged us.

Once we were seated, we were able to go up to the buffet. I did a lot better this time although my plate is still pretty meat heavy. I am not a big fan of vegetables.

Starting from the top and going clockwise, I had beef pot roast, a chicken leg, roast chicken, pretzel bread, and noodle gratin. The round balls in the middle were potato dumplings. Both the roast chicken and the pretzel bread were a little dry but the rest of the food was great. I went back for seconds of the beef pot roast, noodle gratin and potato dumplings.

Jim was a lot more adventurous than me, his grandma was German and this is the food he grew up on. I took pictures of both his first and second plates but I have no idea what anything was.

While we were eating, the band came out and a lot of little kids got up and danced.

For dessert Jim got these two items. Once again I don’t know what they are.

Splashing Our Way Through World Showcase Part 2

I found a chocolate mousse cake that was very yummy.

We ended up sitting for quite a while after we finished eating because we were enjoying the conversation with our seat mates. When we left, I used the restroom and then took this picture of the restaurant.

As you can see it’s built on tiers so that everyone can see the stage. We were seated in the tier closest to the stage. This next photo is a little blurry but it shows the buffet which is set up behind the top tier of tables.

Overall this was a much better experience than the first time we went and I enjoyed it a lot. We were both stuffed and pretty much had to roll ourselves out of the restaurant. Jim wanted to shop in the Germany stores so we did that next. He ended up buying a t-shirt and another bottle of sauce. Like I said earlier I’m not sure which sauce he bought in Mexico and which one was from Germany.

We were both pretty tired at this point thanks to our early morning and we still needed to get situated in our room. We decided to head out and call it a night. We walked back around the same way we came in and made a brief stop at the Mexico counter service. Despite just stuffing ourselves, Jim wanted to order some Cheese Empanadas. He got them to go so he could take them back to the room to have for breakfast the next day. He has no problem eating food cold. I didn’t get a picture because he immediately dumped the whole thing into a to-go container and it no longer looked appetizing.

We stopped for a last set of PP pictures. Not sure what is behind my head making me look like I have stumpy little horns?

We walked onto a bus right around 8 pm and before long we were back at CBR. We got off at the Barbados stop so we could go back to the custom house and pick up our carry-on bags. Also I needed to check with the front desk to see about our room. I forgot to mention it earlier but I got the following text around 3:30. “Please see the front desk about your room assignment when you arrive at your Resort”. So even though I knew we were in Jamaica, building 46 I still didn’t know the room number.

Jim went to bell services to get our bags while I headed into the lobby to speak with the front desk. The CM that waited on me was genuinely stumped as to why I got that message instead of a room number (which I can’t remember right now. I’ll have to look it up at home so I can post if for you). She gave me the room number and we were on our way. I thought about walking but CBR is a large resort and I didn’t know if I could find my way in the dark. So we took the internal bus around and got off at Jamaica. We found our room quickly and I of course took lots of pictures. I had paid for a King Bed room for us.

There were nice doors that separated the bathroom area from the bed.

We had a corner room so we had an extra window instead of a mirror above the table.

I loved how the base of the table looked like a pineapple.

I searched our room all weekend looking for hidden Mickeys but never did find any. Not sure if there are none in these newly renovated rooms or if I just missed them. We didn't even have a towel Mickey when we arrived.

Jim is a bit of a water snob and absolutely refuses to drink tap water. So we headed out to walk to Old Port Royale so he could buy some bottled water. We did talk about shipping a case to the resort but figured that would be a little too much as we were only there 4 ½ days.

The walk between Jamaica and Old Port Royale is fairly short because you can cut across Caribbean Cay which is an island in the middle of the resort. There are bridges connecting it with the main land. The first bridge starts between Jamaica and Aruba.

It wasn’t raining at that moment but the bridge looked so pretty with the reflections off of the rain water.

Looking back towards Jamaica from the bridge.

As we were walking, Illuminations started. We could see some of it from CBR.

We ended up picking up our refillable mugs which we never used and I didn’t take a picture of plus a few bottles of water for Jim. We walked back to the room, unpacked and hit the sack around 10 pm.

As many of you know, I like to pin trade and will post pictures of my trades at the end of each day. Jim trades too but I didn’t get pictures of his. I traded for just two pins this day.

And I’ve got something new and exciting to add to the end of each day. Well maybe not that exciting but I think it is. I received a Fitbit as a Christmas present so I was able to see how many steps/miles we walked each day. Here is our first day states. Considering we didn’t get to Epcot till after 2 pm, I think this is pretty impressive.

Awesome day!

I loved seeing the new animatronics on the boat ride in Mexico! Much better than a screen.

I have never seen the china movie, maybe next time.

I did biergarten in January 2015. I thought it was ok. I did like the music though.

Great PP Pictures!

Nice room, I have never stayed at CBR or even been there in general.

Fun time at World Showcase! It's good that you were able to check in for your meal a little earlier AND that you enjoyed it much more this time!

I enjoyed the CBR pics; very cool that you could see some of Illuminations!

SOunds like a really successful first day :thumbsup2
