THE AMAZING RACE #19 official thread. No Spoilers!! Premieres Sept. 25

^This. ::yes::

Am I on the only one who can't stand the Asian-American girl?

Yeah, that whole "I can't do this!" as they're running back to the orphanage just had me :sad2:. Sheesh - they were the first team to be sent back. They had time. What the heck will she do when it REALLY gets tough?

Exactly.

And I don't like the card she's playing about how success is paramount in her family, failure is not an option kind of attitude. Take a chill pill.

Totally agree, I see a major meltdown in her future if they manage to stay in the race for any length of time.

£%%>#<}# football!

I set my DVR to record 30 minutes extra, and I still don't know who was eliminated! Can somebody please recap after the first two teams? Thanks!

I record TiVo for 3 and a half hours, for this very reason! I would be livid if I missed AR for football. Anyway, for those that don't want to see who got booted off, don't read the rest.
Here goes....(see bottom of this post)

The Vegas showgirls. I'm not good at recapping, so maybe someone else can do that for you.

My husband wanted to go to Comedy Night at the casino so I was being a good wife and went thinking I was going to miss my favorite show. Thank goodness football ran over so I could see AR in its entirety.

I just couldn't get over the temple and how it was built in the 8th century. It was enormous and the intricate carvings. Just what kind of tools did they have in the 8th century to make such a beautiful building???

I do the same- I tape all of the shows after Amazing race until 11pm just to be safe. :thumbsup2

I got the impression that the conversations with Phil were heavily edited. Since so many teams didn't see the sign it would have taken an hour just to show the teams' entire "go back" conversations. :rotfl: The shocked expressions would have been when they first showed up:

Edited out:

Phil - You didn't complete the task
Team - :scared1: HUH?
Phil - There was a sign on the table stating that you had to turn in ALL of your money.
Team - Oh, crap! :headache:

What we saw:

Phil - Did you leave ALL of your money?
Team - (sadly) No

I don't know if anyone else noticed. One woman (I think it was Jenna.) shows up at the mat with her hair down. As Phil tells them they need to go back, it cuts back to her and suddenly her hair is up. However, when they leave, hair down. Return to the mat the 2nd time, hair already up. I may have the details a little mixed up, but the editing was very obvious.

I agree with ya'll, to about the "bickers." I would want to ditch her the first chance I got. However, the brother is bad, too. He would drive me crazy with that kind of superior attitude he has, so I kind of understand where she is coming from. I know people like that and just avoid them whenever possible. I couldn't imagine growing up in his shadow.

I do like the other teams. My faves are the snowboarders (whom I am liking more with each passing episode), and I also like Marcus and his wife. They need to step up their game though.

I couldn't get past--once covered by a rain forest or jungle. Must have been some weed whacker they used!

I would think that someone just had access to a simple machine: The chisel.:confused3 I really don't know--but it is truly amazing what was produced so long ago when I can't do much more than make stick figures.

kaytieeldr: I got burned once when football was over an hour late. We now do 2 hours--most of the time I am home to adjust it if it is even longer than that.

I know the guys who used 4 buckets for water had a 15 minute penalty. They didn't even edit any teams in to make it suspenseful as I think they may have still been counting. The second team (snowboarders) checked in and got 1st and won a really cool trip and then told the guys they owed them one and if they ever needed snowboards, they would hook them up. Then immediately they cut to checking in the father and son. Then back at at the task--the husband and wife team that was last--of course did not remember, but somehow figured things out before everyone else. They came in 5th. I think it was because they sent off their cab and other people had to go and pay their driver before heading to the pit stop on the grounds. I think he was also helped again because the other teams told him the answer (which is still bugging me that there are alliances...I think they are trying to lose the old couple because I think he was working solo and no one was helping him with answers...IIRC.)

That is all I remember. I don't have a clue the order of the check ins except for what I posted.

I was just trying to imagine that temple overgrown with jungle growth. As somebody below says, that must have been some heck of a weed wacker or a very big chain saw.

I took somebody's advice on this thread and added an hour to my Season's Pass for AR and CSI:Miami and that is usually enough.

With the last road block, the Father/Son and the 2 snowboarders actually "read the clues". Except the snowboarders didn't fill their sacks enough with grass and had to turn around and refill it.

After last nite, I actually like the Father/Son team and snowboarders. Also the twins.

The Asian girl-her boyfriend commented in a sit-down interview how she prepared for the Amazing Race for 6 months-packing, exercising, studying Geography and different languages.

I think he also said something like "I've spent the last 6 months on her schedule" :lmao:

I'm thinking: Buddy, I'm sure you haven't seen anything yet! She's a real Type A, so buckle up and hang on! ;)

I was thinking that sending the cab was probably a good strategy when you are at a busy tourist location. It's easy to get a cab at a place like that if you need one.

I was a little surprised at the team that didn't fill their bags of grass full enough and they elected to then switch to the other task. It seemed a little silly to me. I was also really surprised that the older couple was able to deliver their sheep and grass and did not have to go back and refill their bags. Hers was only about 3/4 full when they showed her falling down in the rice paddy 5 or 6 times. I didn't think that was fair when their were other teams that had to go back.

Thanks for the recaps, everyone! I really just need another tv and another DVR... and another 20 or so hours in my week :rotfl:

I said something to DH at the time too. It seemed so arbitrary when they would tell some to go back and fill the bags fuller. Of course, we don't see the filming exactly as it happens & with their editing, it's hard to tell.

I like the older couple, but I think this is a young person's race, so I hope they just have fun travelling the world.

Marcus and Amani were just getting to the temple when the Snowboarders were leaving. The snowboarders did show Amani the 4 different hand positions and their counts, but she isn't the one who actually did the roadblock, Marcus did it. In their interviews, she stated that by the time they had gotten to where the cluebox was, she was wiped out and had pretty much forgotten what the guys had told her. And Marcus stated that he hadn't paid very close attention to what they said. He could remember some of what they said, but not enough to get the clue outta the box and walk up to the guy and tell him the correct answer. He actually had to do the roadblock and actually worked with one of the Vegas girls to get the answers. Yes, he did start to recall what the info was, but it wasn't anything close to some the blantant examples of giving the correct answer and not doing the task to get the answer. He worked with the girls, until they both had the correct answers. The difference in their placement, all came down to Vegas had to settle up their cab and Marcus and Amani didn't.

I saw the same thing and every time I see it, I have to remind my self, it's an hour time slot. The editing doesn't always make it the easiest to follow or figure out why somethings seem fair to 1 team but not others.

I don't know why, but Marcus picking up his sheep and carrying it, made me laugh so hard. I was suprised the lil' cuss wasn't carrying on baaing or kicking it's legs to get put down.

we do that too...but it's because we watch The Good Wife. CSI: Miami not so much but hey if it gets me TAR and The Good Wife in their entirety than I am okay.

They are not going to make it far. Thay are just too slow. When he finshed the Buddha task, they had the clue and they were just casually folding it up and saying "Ok we have to go find our taxi and pay him" They were not MOVING. I was yelling at the tv "JUST MOVE!!!" LOL

Then we see them just casually walking as if they were taking a Sunday stroll in the park.
