We will be staying at GF for the first time this December for our first Adults Only trip. We are thinking of checking out Jelly Rolls one night,b ut not sure about how to get to and from there. We are relying on Dis transportation. Does anyone know how we could do this? I know there normally aren't any buses that run from resort to resort but I heard somewhere that Jelly Rolls is an exception and that there is a shuttle to take you to your resort. Can anyone confirm this?

Relying on Disney transportation, you could take the monorail from the GF to Magic Kingdom. Get off the monorail and walk to the MK bus stops; catch a bus to the Boardwalk Inn and Jelly Rolls is on the Boardwalk. I don't know about a shuttle. :confused3 Have fun on your adults-only trip!:goodvibes

Does any one know if all the rooms are getting new mattresses? I read that all the mattresses were taken out of Sago Cay while they were working on that particular building. I thought that with all the inside remodeling done, the mattresses would have been new. Actually, I thought that it was kind of strange that I was sleeping in a "rut" on the bed in my room in SL when I was there last month. Maybe the GF didn't buy new mattresses before and now they are.

Not sure if all the rooms are getting them, but there were a LOT of maintanance vehicles with lots of mattresses flying around this past week! It was kind of comical in a way!

For anyone interested, the marble floor replacement has moved downstairs this past week also in front of the monorail entrance upstairs. The white screens are up all over the perimeter of the lobby and certain paths/routes closed. There was a lot of noise during the day, which was not pleasant or relaxing. We had it througout our tea time at the Garden View Lounge and it killed the relaxing mood somewhat, despite the delicious food/tea. Night time was nice though despite the obvious renovations.

We are heading to the GF in a few days for our first stay. We have typically stayed at the Poly. Your news on the renovations is making me very nervous. I agonized over where to stay and I just hope the time I decide to stay at the GF isn't marred by construction noise!:scared1:

We are heading to SL for our first GF visit. I really hope we are not sleeping in a "rut" as that will not go over well with DH! Let's hope some of those new mattresses are headed to SL!

Hi we made ressie a couple of weeks ago for garden view (10/30/20), the CM stated the garden view was now Boca Chica, Sago Cay and Big Pine Key, for the life of me I'm trying to remember which building is Big Pine Key, is it the one directly across from Conch Key (other side of the pool), help!!

Our favorite resort is the Poly too and I have to say, we missed it just a bit. But the GF is beautiful and has it's own culture to it that is wonderful. Reports a while back were that the work/"cleaning" as they are calling it for the buildings is unobtrusive to visitor's vacation/experience, but at this point, in my opinion, it can't be missed. It's all around. We were staying at the GF for the resort experience, not to stay at the parks all day and have a nice place to come back to, so our opinion of it all was from a different perspective. The hot tub was also not available for a day and then not heated for another two. It appears to be working now, just not as warm as it probably should be.
It is all a matter of perspective and with a postive attitude, should not affect the quality of your vacation as there are many positives to the resort.

we will be there in march and i have an RPC question. i know they serve wine, and beer, and cordials at night. does anyone know if they serve any liquor in RPC? dh can no longer have gluten, so beer is out of the question, and he really does not like wine. he's wondering if they have anything like tequila, vodka, etc.? we want this to be a more relaxing vacation and would like to unwind at the end of a day, instead of running around at the parks and heading straight to bed when we get in, like we usually do. i'm sure mizner's has everything, but am wondering specifically what's available at RPC.

Sorry, no hard liquor is served in RPC. There is usually 3 types of wine and beer and 4-5 cordials. He'll have to stop off at Mizner's! Or purchase something for the room?

Hello GF-er's!
I just started my very first TR which includes 4 magical nights at the GF. If you'd be interested in following along, the link is in my signature.
Enjoy!

Just returned from my first ever stay at the GF. It was a quick 4 night girls trip with a college friend. She rec'd a very nice pin offer and although the Poly is my absolute favorite resort and where I preferred to be, she wanted to give the GF a try. I was somewhat familiar with the resort from all the strolls my husb and I have taken over from the Poly. I've always found the resort and grounds beautiful but the main building a bit formal for me. I had some concern about the atmosphere being a bit stuffy for me, but this was not the case at all. From the moment DME dropped us off, we received warm greetings and felt instantly welcomed and comfortable. I wasn't used to being escorted by a greeter to the registration desk. Kind of made me feel alittle special! :) We were checked in promptly without any wait. We were actually the only ones checking in. Got our room requests for Boca Chica and had a very nice view of the quiet pool. Those balconies are really nice! We kept wishing they had little ceiling lights for some early morning coffee and reading. Our room was clean and neat. It had just been furnished with new mattresses. Very, very comfy! The decor was pretty, although similiar to my own decorating style. While lovely throughout, I missed the theming throughout the Polynesian. I just felt that I was at a lovely resort. Housekeeping came every morning as requested, so we always returned to a made up room. CMs throughout the resort were friendly and always offered a smile and hello. I made 2 requests by phone to have our shower and sink drains checked for slow drainage. When no one responded after 2 days, I went to the front desk, spoke to the CM who checked us in, and maintenance immediately appeared. Problem fixed. We were out of our room early each day for park time before returning for sun, swimming, and pina coladas at the pool! :) Yum. I am having pina colada withdrawals right now. Never ate at the GF, other than lunch at Gasparilla Grill twice, as we'd head back to the parks at night. Transportation is wonderful staying on the monorail route, although I think the Poly is actually the most convenient and quickest. From the Poly, you can take the launch or ferry to the MK which is a quick 5 min ride or scoot on the monorail. To get to Epcot, you need only to walk to the TTC which is quicker than taking the resort monorail around the loop. There was construction going on at the GF. Seemed every picture I wanted to take around the pool had mattress carts in it. They seemed to be located primarily around Boca Chica and Big Pine Key. I am sure everyone will appreciate getting those new mattresses though. There was alot of floor work construction in the main lobby. It was blocked off by those wall screens, and there were alot of them. It did take away from the ambience, but I'm not sure how you can avoid that with renovations. I also saw a crane and scaffolding around Sugarloaf but not much work. Overall, we had a wonderful girls trip and really nice stay at the GF. I'm glad my friend chose the GF. I otherwise would never have stayed there. As soon as I leave the Polynesian, I want to get right back there! :) So for you Poly people with trips booked to the GF, I think you will find yourself enjoying the resort immensely and not feeling out of place at all. It's different there, but everyone we encountered was extremely nice. Even met a disboard member in the pool from Chicago! We had alot of fun chatting. It was her first time at the GF too, and she felt the same as me.

Just wanted to add... I loved the turn down service and little chocolates left on our bed each night. I've never had that service before and felt very pampered receiving it! :)

I read that wine is not offered at SL but then I read everything is the same as RPC...I also read the childrens food offerings at RPC is not available at SL but then I read everything is the same...help...which is it? Also can anyone provide any lunch / dinner food type snacks that are offered. I have read and seen pictures of the cereals, muffins, breads, ect. but trying to figure out if this is worth the money for my family (2 small picky eaters). I saw a menu for the Poly spread and it looked appealing.

Hi LittleStinkerBelle. You are going to Love, Love, Love the GF!!! Happy 10th Anniversary too!!!

We have stayed at the GF the last 4 years in a row. We were there last month and stayed in SL. It was an upgrade. I asked me two children if they would like to stay in a different place. The answer is NO! DS is almost 14 and DD is 11. They love it there. I left DS walk to Gasparilla's to refill his mug. DD and I like to go over to Basin and try out the different body and bath items. I used some of the Basin stuff a few nights ago and DD said, "Mommy, you smell like Florida." DH has a ball in the pool with the kids and like to sit on the balcony. I do too.

My understanding is the offerings are the same in both lounges though we have only stayed RPC so I can't personally confirm that but many people who have stayed SL have reported the same offerings. And yes there is wine!:thumbsup2

Breakfast items include 3 -4 cereals such as Frosted Flakes, Fruit Loops, Cheerios and Raisin Bran (though they can change I suppose). There are also several types of sweet rolls, sticky buns, bagels and toast; cubed fruit like watermelon, melon, strawberries, etc. and always a tray of meats and cheeses for the international guests. Mid-day snacks vary but when we've been there, we've had veggies and dip, crackers and spreads, cheeses, chips, breadsticks, small ham sandwich rolls, Goldfish, cookies, etc. The kids' corner in the evening can offer things like ham and cheese sandwiches, fish or chicken nuggets and uncrustables along with treats like cupcakes with Mickey sprinkles! The adult offerings include several hot appetizers, small salads, etc.

Joining in - we just booked our first stay at GF for the end of January:yay::yay::yay:! I can't wait:dance3:.

Congratulations! We will be there in January, too!:banana:
