Lots of pixiedust: Pixie Dust was with us on this trip!

Thanks for reading my trip report!!!! :flower3:

I'm working on my post now...
Carolyn

Yes I love to read about the trip on Disboards. It helps me to see what I missed, even on the trips that I get to go on :rotfl:

A little side note – Not many pictures on this post because we were house hunting and it was really hard to dig out my camera that I had stuck way down in my bag. Which was stupid of me and I ‘m not sure why I didn’t dig it out, because I really wish I had pictures of the TH to compare them to each other.

Day 3 – Tuesday
House Hunting!!!

What an amazing thought… I’m moving to Orlando… in July… I can’t believe we’re going to do this. The whole thought of this is so exciting and then so scary!

My extent of moving is:

I grew up in the same house until the end of my junior year and then my family moved across town to another house plus my family kept the first house too.

Then it was time for me to go off to college so I moved into a dorm room, at Texas Tech – “Go Raider’s”, after a year I moved back home.

After living with my parents again for a year or so, I moved into my little yellow house.

After a few years of the single life, I got married and we lived in my little yellow house.

About 3 years of living in the little yellow house we packed up everything and moved to Midland, Texas…

Then husband’s job moved us to Sonora, Texas.

Then about 3 years of living in Sonora, my husband wanted a divorce (he wanted to live with his new girlfriend) so my children and I moved back to Abilene and the kids and I moved into the first house I grew up in… :cheer2: I’ve been in this house since 2001 and I remarried 2005 to my sweet wonderful hubby and we live in this house together with the kids… Just Rae now!

So moving isn’t something I’ve done lots of. I’ve never lived in an apartment, Townhouse, Condo, or anything of this sort… :confused3 So the thought of moving 1400 miles from Home is so exciting but so scary too and the thought of living in a townhouse sounds like so much fun!!!!

So today is the day we meet with a realtor, Pam. I’ve talked with her through email several times and she has about 15 townhouse and single family homes for us to see. It's going to be a really fun day! :thumbsup2

We got up this morning early and hurried down to the lobby: knowing that Pam would be there at 10:00. We were so excited! Or at least Rae and I were, I think Barbra was very sad because her Best friend was moving to Orlando!!!! We skipped breakfast but we did get a cokes and coffee. Coke for me and the girls love coffee frappuccino things..

Here’s us sitting in the lobby taking silly pictures…

Pam was right on time!

Now I’ve never meet her so I wasn’t sure who to look for but when we walked outside, I figured out which one she was… The one standing outside a car waving for us!!!

Out there in the valet parking area stood Pam beside her little, old, worn out, small compact car. So we did our introductions and she put her purse in the trunk and the girls climbed into the very tight back seat and I in the front with all of my junk, a purse and bag with all of the information that I have on Orlando and my big feet. So needless to say we were packed in her car like sardines… :scared1:

But

Off we went. House Hunting in Orlando!!!! YES!!!

I’m so excited! I’ve not adventured very far from DisneyWorld and the area that Eric lived in so I was ready to find my way around the Big City!!!!

Now, I’m one lucky girl, I have a really Really REALLY great sense of direction, I can drive to it once and I can do it over and over again so for me to take a wrong turn or get lost is pretty hard to do. That’s why it was so funny that I took several wrong turns driving to Orlando. :lmao:

Off we went and before long I knew where we were. Metrowest Area! I really loved this area and found several really great townhouse that I loved!!! As we worked :drive: our way around this area I started figuring out that this is the area that Eric use to live in and also Valencia Community College was right down a couple of street from the one townhouse that I really loved.

VCC is one of the schools that we’re looking at for Rae to attend.

After we looked at many townhouse in that area we adventured through Windermere (Eric worked at Windermere County Club, so I remember driving in this area too) and on over to the back side or the top area of Magic Kingdom. Rae and I fell in love with 2 of the townhouse in this area plus one of the bonuses about these TH is that every night you can watch “Wishes”. :cheer2: Now I’m thinking that’s the whole reason to live there!!!!!

We had such a fun time looking at townhomes and yes they all started blending together. We couldn’t remember which one had what stuff in it and which one had the smaller bedrooms and they were just running all together. :confused3

Finally the girls were getting very hot because she didn’t even have air-conditioned in her little compact car, grumpy and very hungry, and since it was getting close to 1:00 and we were starving remember all we had this morning was a coke and coffee…

We finished looking at all 15 house on her list and Pam took us back to our Resort and we said our goodbye…

It was time to eat!!!!! Off to our big, air conditioned; gas guzzling SUV we went… :drive:

While we were driving around with Pam, Rae spotted a Pei Wei!!! Yes!!! We love Pei Wei, and since we don’t have one in Abilene we have to drive all the way to Fort Worth to eat at one, so our mission was to find that Pei Wei we saw!

We did a little wondering a low and behold pixiedust: we found it!!!!!

Time to eat!!!

Edamame, Honey Seared Chicken, Large Coke!!!!

I’m not real sure what the girls ate beside Edamame…

Lunch was awesome!!! As always!!! Love it!

After lunch it was time to hang out by that awesome pool!!!!

The girls got on their swim suits and off we went. I forgot my suit! How crazy was that!!!

I got the girls a virgin strawberry daiquiri and I had the real kind! $26.00 later they were gone!

We stayed out by the pool for a couple of hours and then time to clean up and head to Universal City Walks for dinner!!! Bubba Gumps.

Coming up!

Well since you live with her get her on the ball to the next installment. :rotfl2:

OK, No fair I hit publish and the next installment pops up. LOL. Good timeing.

what a fantastic trip report. I can't get over the fact that you have time zone changes on your drive although if I'd stopped to consider it i would have realised :)

The cancellation of your room was awful :( but at least they rectified the problem in a good way.

Moving to Florida - what a dream :goodvibes:

Can't wait for more.

Bad house shopping!! You have to show us pictures!!!! How will we help you pick the right house? Or guess the right house?? I'm so disappointed!

:rotfl:

Anyway, my vote is on the house you can watch Wishes from!! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for reading my trip report!!! Time Zones are crazy but so is the time change that we have...

I was so crazy mad about our room, I could imagine where we were going to sleep, and then what came out of it!!! That was so awesome!!!!

I can't wait to get to Florida!!!
Thanks again for reading.
I was excited to see someone from UK on my thread. That's so cool!!!

I know, I can't believe I forgot to take pictures... When I look over the paper work that I have I can't even remember which one is which. Although I do remember 3 of them really well. 2 out by MK and the one on the golf course at MetroWest. The ones by MK are so far from Valencia Community College and it would take about 30 minutes for Rae to get to school. So, For know the one on the golf course is what were thinking about.

I didn't even think about how much fun it would be for everyone to help me choose which one. thanks for reading...

More to come

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2pixiedust:Yelp I vote for that house too.

We really like the one by MK for our own personal reasons. Annual Pass and Mk Wishes!!!!

Oh how fun! Good job so far.

My DH and I are currently planning a move to Orlando for later this year (hopefully by November :woohoo:)!! I was thinking of doing a "Moving Report" or something once plans start to come together. I can't wait to read more about your experience!

Wow, so much fun and magic in two days! :cool1:
I love Florida, would love to live there...maybe one day! :cool1: Right now my kids are settled here and happy.

Did you really pay $753.00 for your park tickets? We just got our 6 day hoppers for 310.00 apiece. Or I am betting that is total right for 3 people? lol!

Can't wait to read more!!

Day 3 – Monday Evening
City Walks – Universal

:offtopic:
Before our trip, way back in February, Rae and I started a fit camp! Our thinking was we had better get in shape before our trip to Disneyworld…

We would get up every morning at 5:30 for a 6:00am fit camp… :cheer2:

Well, one day I was running line, like you would on a tennis court, run to a line, run back, run to the next line, run back, and so on and on and on….

Well these awful flat feet that I have, really have a hard time running, so I was running lines and

BAAM…

I felt like I pulled or tore something in my right foot. Ouch it hurt.. But I kept on going…

As the weeks went on, my foot continued to hurt but only when I only wore flats or my tennis shoes, so I found wearing high heels was the best shoe to wear. :thumbsup2

So everyday to work I would wear high heels and my foot felt fabulous!

I would also try to take Advil or Tylenol if it was hurting but it wouldn’t take the pain away. :confused3 So, I was beginning to wonder how am I going to walk around Disney with my feet in tennis shoes maybe I should just wear HIGH HEELS!! :lmao:

So my foot was becoming a problem. It was really messing up my Disney trip!!!

Okay, Enough of this… My foot becomes a bother most of the trip. At one point I started to cut it off!!!

Time for City Walks… :woohoo:

We had a great time lying out by the pool, reading, and just resting.

But now it was time for dinner and City Walks.

Yes!!!

So down the elevator we went, walked way out to the parking lot and off we went. The girls were really excited. My plan was for us to have a really fabulous dinner at Bubba Gump’s, check out Universal Store; Meghan wanted to get her brother a wand and just wonder around the grounds.

Off we went, we made our way over to Universal not making any wrong turn and then

THE ENTRANCE…

which was way over behind the cement pillars. HMMMMMM,

what????

I took another wrong turn… This can’t be happening to me. I don’t take wrong turns…

So, needless to say I was in the wrong lane and I couldn’t get to the right lane without flipping a u and driving down the wrong direction. (Remember, I’m a rule follower too)

So what did I do?

I did a u turn (the sign said, No U Turns) drove the wrong way, but whewwww, I made it. Oh man, that was so stressful, in my big ole gas guzzling SUV… Tammy doesn’t like to do U turns, without having to stop back up and so on.

Finally in the parking lot we went.

Oh by the way, if you go to Universal after 6:00 parking is only $5.00 not $$$$$?…

Nice!

We drove up and up and up to almost the top level. JAWS: is where we parked. We left Tammy and started the long walk, lots of walking, down a couple of escalator,

onto the moving escalator
088.jpg

then on over to the long walk ways.

We were in a hurry, we wanted to get to Bubba Gump’s and put our name on the list. No time for security, that I didn’t see and so I hurried right past it, I wasn’t paying any attention, and then the security guard starts yelling,

“ma’am, Ma’am! MA’AM!!”

Now the girls had stopped but not me… I was on a mission…

then all the sudden I hear, “MOOOOOOOM!!!!!, the security Guard is yelling at you!”

Oh no, what did I do… I didn’t even notice the bag check spot.

so I hurried back like a sweet puppy dog when she’s gotten in trouble.

I felt so bad. Rule Breaker!!!!

We made it through Security and on over to the entrance. Wow amazing, now last April Eric brought us here for dinner and we had lots of fun, so I was looking forward to bring the girls here too but I didn’t remember it being such a busy crazy fun place, lots of people in a very compact area.

087.jpg

086.jpg

Over to Bubba Gump’s we went. We put our name on the list: okay not our name but our favorite drink?!?!?! That’s an odd way to call someone when it’s time for them to be seated, instead of using your own name and If I remember correct last April we were the city we were from: "Abilene" Oh well, we told the guy who was taking our name “coke for 3!".

We waited about 20 minutes. Not bad at all. They sat us at the table right next to the table we sat at last April. Rae and I thought that was so funny.

The girls thought our waiter was so hot!!!! and I really think he thought the girls were hot too, lots of flirting going on.

He gave us a challenge question,

There are 3 presidents that Forrest meet in the movie Forrest Gump, name them???

Now, I think I’ve only seen this movie maybe twice… I’m not a huge movie fan unless it’s a Disney Movie or A hopeless romantic movie. I don’t do thrill seekers, scary movies, or anything suspenseful, I just like a good ole sappy movie.

So I should have seen FG many times, but I just haven’t.

We thought of a couple of the presidents, JFK and Nixon, but we couldn’t come up with all of them.

We need a life line..

so we called, Chuck – Meghan’s Dad…

Chuck came up with President Johnson…

YES!!! We had them all. What do we win????

A free dessert???

No.... Nothing…

Except our cute waiter came up with more FG questions… It was fun playing Forrest Gump trivia, but we didn’t win a thing. :sad2: No Pixie Dust here!!!!

After dinner we wondered over to Universal’s store, along with everyone else, I’m thinking maybe the parks had just closed. We found lots of fun things, plus a wand for Alec, Meghan’s brother. Alec really loves Harry Potter. But who doesn’t, except me, too suspenseful for me, and that big huge snake in the 1st or 2nd movie, just did me in.

Name this movie... I love love love it!!!

Walking around...

080.jpg

After Universal store we hit Margaritaville. LOVE LOVE LOVE this store…
Sing along with me…

Wastin away again in Margaritaville
Searching for my lost shaker of salt…
Some people claim that there’s a women to blame
But I know it’s nobodys fault.

I decided that since Rae and I had Margaritaville in Key West on our Cruise, I thought that Meghan would love trying Bubba Gump’s a little more than Margaritaville, little did I know that Meghan had BG in San Francisco a few years ago with Choir tour. Oh well, our food was fabulous!!!

Sorry no food porn.

We had fun wondering around City Walks, but my silly foot was killing me. I wore sandals that night, not a good idea.

We took lots of fun pictures around the lake and checked out all the nice shops.
Fun pictures... Love this!!!
085.jpg

We didn’t buy anything except the wand. So off we went, back to the north 40 to find our car.

093.jpg

Finally we found Tammy, and off we went… After we got out of the parking lot and heading down the main street in Universal, we got to a stop light and I was in the left hand turning lane, when all the sudden I realized I was going to take a wrong turn!!!!!

I looked in my rear view mirror, no one behind me or around me, so I put it in reverse and slowly started backing up when I hear…

“Mom there’s a car behind you!!!!!”

"Where did that silly car come from?" Was my thought…

Well, I didn’t hit it, thank the good Lord… But I sure came close, I’m guessing he threw his car in reverse as fast as he could and backed up at the same time I did.

Oh my Lord, that would have been horrible.

Sometimes, I am so blonde… :confused3

Finally we made it back to our fabulous resort around 9:00pm

Up to our room we went, we watched a little tv, while I did some catching up on my trip report diary. The girls started getting a little stir crazy so they decided that they wanted some ice cream. So, I let them go down stairs. They had so much fun checking out the resort and eating ice cream...

Finally they came back and it was time to crash, Tomorrow is Disney Hollywood Studio all day!!!!!

What a great day we had, lots of looking at houses and then City Walks at Universal.

Dinner was fabulous!!!

Thanks for reading!
