Teppan Edo to Main Street Electrical Parade?

We have dinner reservations at Teppan Edo in Epcot at 6:10 p.m one week from today, on Monday, March 9. We would like to finish our dinner, walk to the monorail at the entrance to Epcot, take the monorail to Magic Kingdom, and find a spot in Frontierland for the Main Street Electrical Parade, which starts at 9:00 p.m. Will we have enough time to pull this off? (On that day the Main Street Electrical Parade runs twice, at 9:00 and 11:00). (Also, I've already called Teppan Edo to try to move the reservation to an earlier time, but they are all booked). Thanks!

Just wanted to offer another opinion/option if you feel time pressed... it is a loooong walk from Japan to the Monorail in Epcot... you could walk out the International Gateway to the Beach Club resort. From there you can take a bus to MK or if you are really time pressed take a cab. Good luck.

Teppan Edo is such a wildcard.. if it's busy you could be waiting 30-40 after your booked time, but not necessarily. I've been there times when it's packed and had to wait, but I've been there times when it's packed and I didn't. This one is hard to tell.

I would agree completely to travel via Beach Club and Bus.

Best Case:
Dinner: 6:10 to 7:15.
Walk to BC: 7:15 to 7:30.
Wait and Bus to MK: 7:30-8:00.

Worst Case:
Best Case:
Dinner: 6:10 to 7:45.
Walk to BC: 7:45 to 8:00.
Wait and Bus to MK: 8:00-8:45.

I agree with walking to the Beach Club or the Boardwalk and taking a MK bus,it'll save you the long walk to the monorail and then the transfer from the Epcot monorail to the MK line, the bus will go directly to MK.

The monorail route could work if everything goes perfectly. The monorail transfer at the TTC can take a while depending on the timing and the crowds. The bus from the Beach Club should be doable. Taxi should be no problem. One issue could be getting to Frontierland depending on your arrival time to the MK. If it is close to parade time it is not always easy to push your way through the crowds and find a spot. If you waited for the 11:00 parade there would be no problem at all.

Just a note to OP that if you take a cab from Beach Club, have the driver drop you off at the Contemporary and then walk over to the MK entrance. If you ask the cab to take you to MK, they will drop you at the TTC and you will still have to transfer to the monorail or ferry boat in order to get to the MK entrance.

This is the OP ... many thanks for all of these great responses! This is my first post ever on this board, and all of your responses have made me feel very welcome here! A follow-up question: how much will a cab from Beach Club to the Contemporary cost? Thanks!

Just to add turn up for reservation early and ask if it is possible to seat you any earlier and they probably will.

This is the OP. We will certainly do this. We are planning on doing American Adventure at 5:15, which will end at 5:45 ... we will walk immediately next door to Japan, where we will ask to be seated early at Teppan Edo! Great advice!

Doable but not much leeway there. And second the opinion that waiting 30 minutes past reservation time is not uncommon there. I'd get there at least 15 minutes early and also agree beach club is way to go.

Welcome, clippercfx! It's your first post, and my first time to get to welcome someone!! :)

Sounds like you can make it, with a fallback plan of the 11:00 parade. Wouldn't be so bad to squeeze in a twirl on Dumbo in the dark in between ;). Good luck!

Is the 11pm parade an option?

We did Teppan Edo for the first time this past year and REALLY enjoyed it. It seems like the type of restaurant where if you're in a rush, you can't fully enjoy yourself. It'll be tough to take in all the chef's tricks if you're constantly checking your watch.

My opinion - if it allows, take your time and enjoy your meal. Even if you get to MK by 8-830, a lot of people will be lining up already. Maybe you could take advantage and tackle some rides in that time. Then, around 10, you grab a Dole Whip and the best spot for the parade.

It is doable, but you may feel a bit rushed. Who wants to rush around in Disney?

The problem with Teppan Edo is that you sit with other people (unless you are already a party of 8) and they will not seat you until everyone that is to sit at the table is there. They escort you and the other family to the table together. There really isn't any way to seat you earlier than your ADR time since they have already planned out who sits at each table.

Just didn't want you to necessarily count on being seated early.

This is a good idea!

We took a cab last year from the Dolphin to Contemp for dinner at Cali Grill and DH says it was about $20 plus tips.

Many thanks for all of the great advice!

The limiting reagent here seems to be how much time it will take to be seated and to finish or meal at Teppan Edo. We will without question try to get seated early at Teppan Edo (I know, no guarantees) starting at 5:45 (when American Adventure lets out). If we finish our meal with enough time, we will walk through Beach Club (where we are staying) and take a bus to MK and try to get a spot for the MSEP. If there is not enough time to do that, we will stay at Epcot and try to get a spot for Illuminations. (The 11:00 MSEP is not an option, my kids will be asleep by 11:00!)

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to report back on how this all worked out. We saw the 5:15 presentation of American Adventure (which I thought was very good), which let out at 5:45. We walked next door to Japan and checked in at Teppan Edo. We were seated almost immediately, and a second family was seated at our table almost immediately after that. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner which was finished by 6:45! It was clear that we would be able to walk through the International Gateway, walk through the Beach Club, take a bus to Magic Kingdom and get a spot for the MSEP with plenty of time to spare . . . except that everyone in our group was so worn out from a long (and hot) day at Epcot that everyone just wanted to go to Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club (where we were staying) for a relaxing evening at the pool. So that is what we did. We did see the MSEP the next night. While my wife and daughter did their 8:20 FastPass+ for Meet Anna and Elsa, my son and I staked out our spot for the parade. It all worked out perfectly. Many thanks to everyone on this board for their advice ! ! !

Glad it all worked out for you, and thanks for reporting back!

Excellent! You did the best thing you can do at Disney which is "have a plan but go with the flow". :wizard:
Sometimes the best memories come from the spontaneous and from listening to what your family is telling you. Nobody has fun when they are tired and cranky and forced to "enjoy" another attraction. So glad it all worked out. :thumbsup2
