Tamu Tamu Breakfast & Discovery Cove Wedding ~ 12/10/12 ~ Start of Day 2

Wow, your plans are all really coming together now! I love the idea of adding the safari ride to your party. That will definitely make it super-memorable for your guests. I'm still a little shocked that Happy Limo wants $44 to get you from the Poly to Animal Kingdom, though... :scared1:

I think its a great idea as well and was shocked by that town car price but it looks like its a set price as they were all $44.

I've watched my wedding video a few times but was like you in thinking I wouldn't get one so glad I did though. I did the online screening as well and loads of people watched.

LOVE that sign!

I love all your Discovery Cove photos. I've never been, but it looks so beautiful! That sign is so cute! Although $3 for a ribbon colour change seems like a lot... Could you change the ribbon yourself for less or would it end up being about the same cost?

I love that you are doing a ride-mix-in, that is awesome! I'd love to do something like that at our wedding, but I'm not sure how it could work. Are you going to keep it a surprise for your guests? Also, it's funny that you say your mom is a real help with the interrogating--my mom is doing the exact same thing. I had no idea she would be like that, because it's not really her style, but she's become really pushy with all the wedding planning. Not that I'm complaining, I'd rather she do it than me. Haha!

I know! I'm so excited! :goodvibes When I originally asked for a quote it was $55, but I mentioned Mousesavers and since I booked other days, it dropped it to $44. I still think it's ridiculous and we should just get a rental car, but it's important to him. Now hopefully all these towncars actually show up when they're supposed to!

I keep thinking we could watch the video at our anniversaries or something like that, but even if we don't, I'll be glad we have it and have our family/friends on video (and I can share it with all of you!).

I love it too! I'm so excited to see it in person!

That's a great idea! I didn't even think about that. That would be helpful too as I could get the exact color I want.

Well, adding the ride mix-in has changed my plans a bit for that morning (I think for the better). Originally our breakfast was supposed to start at 8:30 and be over by 9:30. When I asked my planner about adding the ride, he said we could move the breakfast start time (have it start at 8) and then go on the ride at 9 (when the park opens). I had my reservations about that as some guests are already complaining about having to get up early two days in a row and that would mean those staying at Disney resorts without a car would definitely not be able to take a bus there. He said events are supposed to be over when the park is open, but he would send a request to Animal Kingdom.

I got an email back yesterday stating that we have been approved for a later start time! :cheer2: We'll now go on the ride first, right at 9 a.m., and then the breakfast is 9:30-10:30. I am keeping it as a surprise from my guests, but I'm concerned that two of my guests may not want to ride it due to health concerns. I'm not really sure what happens in that circumstance. I would guess maybe the escort just waits with those people that don't want to go? :confused3

That's too funny about your Mom because that is exactly my Mom! :lmao: I keep wondering, "Who is this woman?!" She's usually so laid back and not pushy at all. Like you said, I'd rather it be her than me!

Thank you all for your responses and for reading along!

It's been pretty quiet on the wedding front. I feel like I should be doing something, but the things I have left to do can't really happen for another couple of weeks.

I ordered our flower girl gift:

I bought this bag off of Ebay, which will be embroidered with an "R" instead of her entire name.

I will fill the bag with things like glow necklaces/bracelets, candy and this necklace I bought from Amazon:

I ordered this platter for my cousin as a hostess gift for throwing me the bridal shower off of Etsy:

I put her and her husband's last name initial in the middle ("B") and his initial ("J") on the left and her initial ("S") on the right. Afterwards, I thought maybe I should've done just the "B", as the monogram is usually just one person's initials, but it's too late now!

We bought a few waterproof disposable cameras too, but I think you all know what those look like ;).

People are FINALLY starting to make reservations and purchase flights so that's exciting! I still have a lot of response cards to get back by 11/1, though...

I keep trying to think about what I want to write in my vows, but I just feel a lot of pressure and not a whole lot of inspiration :confused3

I'm going to try on my dress tonight! I've lost 15 lbs. since 8/1 so I'm really crossing my fingers it fits perfectly. We'll see!

I'll have more to report after my bridal shower next weekend! :goodvibes

I originally had no desire for cutesy marital shirts. Basically, I don't like attention. I sat here for a minute trying to think of my other reasons and I have none. However, I showed Matt some of the shirts that had been made by people on the Facebook DIS brides page and he got incredibly excited. I never knew a guy would get so excited about wearing a "Just Married" shirt, but there you have it. Of course, the more I started to look into it, the more obsessed I got :rolleyes1.

These are the shirts I ordered off of Zazzle that we'll wear to DHS and Epcot the day after the wedding:

It has our first names, our wedding date, and our last name on the front.

And now I'm even thinking about making a shirt to wear for the day before the wedding... Next thing you'll know, I'll have a custom shirt for every day of our trip! :lmao:

I love the shirts! I was thinking about doing something like that too. I also don't like a lot of attention on me, so the fact that they don't match is good.

I'm also thinking about getting a little dress (or making it myself) that says "bride" on it for the morning of the wedding.

Oooooo! A dress! I love dresses. I'll be sure to keep an eye out on your PJ!

I'm featured on the Disney Wedding Podcast! :goodvibes I was SO nervous, but I think it came out pretty good! Carrie is so wonderful and kind. Her podcasts are always such a wealth of information and interesting (and I could listen to her voice for hours!).

Check it out here, if you wish!

Not only is today Matt's birthday, but it's also the RSVP Return By date! Anyone wanna guess how many I have received? I'm waiting on close to 30 (I can never remember the exact number without looking at my spreadsheet as I sent out 21 initially, but then it turned into sending out one or two at a time). I have received 9. And those are all the people I already knew were coming . I have 3-4 that are "wild cards" that I haven't heard anything from (except saying that they'll be there via Facebook months ago). I sent out a friendly reminder on FB to send in the response cards as quickly as possible. Hopefully I'll get them all in by next week. Wishful thinking?

It looks like our transportation costs are going to go way down. I was expecting a lot of people to not have cars to get to Discovery Cove, but it seems like everyone has cars except for us and one other family, so far.

My bridal shower is this Saturday! :hyper: I always get people-pleasing anxiety with these types of things, though, as it's mostly my friends/family and then a couple of his family members and I want them to feel included in everything. I'll try to report back with some pictures!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! :yay: My thoughts and prayers are with those in the upper East Coast affected by Sandy. We've been pretty fortunate with hurricanes and Sandy only left a lot of water behind for us (nothing like it is up North).

I love your shirts! I'm also indecisive about the shirts, perhaps I should propose the idea to DF and maybe he'll be as excited as your fiance!

Very good news about the transportation costs! It's also a thing I'd rather not pay for, but it's not likely going to happen for me.

I am looking forward to hearing you on the podcast! DF and I usually listen to it together on the weekend so I've been forced to patiently wait. Or maybe not so patiently.

Have fun at your bridal shower! :goodvibes

I love the shirts you posted!! I think "HIS" is so funny. I love that he got so excited about them. I can't wait to listen to the podcast I always save them for my weekend walks so I probably won't hear it until tomorrow or Sunday...but I'm looking forward to hearing from someone I "know", haha.

Have a great day!
Brooke

I listened to your podcast today. :cool1: I thought you did a great job and that it was very informative. I think your ideas for the wedding are very unique and I am looking forward to more :)

I was really surprised that he was so excited to do them. He wants to wear one every day, but I drew the line at one day :rolleyes2. Although, I may end up wearing one on two days because I ordered a long sleeve t-shirt and they sent me a short sleeve shirt and when I contacted Zazzle, they told me to keep it and they'd send me a long sleeve one! :goodvibes

I think the transportation is the only thing right now coming in under budget . Transportation costs drive me crazy, but would even more so if I had to pay for those large motorcoaches.

I hope you enjoy it! I usually listen to the podcast while I lay in bed working on budgets and it always puts my fiance to sleep. He says Carrie's voice is so soothing it knocks him right out! :lmao:

Thank you! :cutie: I love his shirt because whenever anyone asks him if we're available for something he always turns to me and says "Ask my manager".

I know exactly what you mean about "knowing" someone on the podcast! Every time someone comes on the I read their PJ or see them post on the DIS Brides FB page, I tell Matt I "know" them and he's like "How?!?" :)

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And not to rush anything, but I can't wait to get back from the wedding already and share stories, pictures, and video with all of you!

In case you're interested, I finished booking all of our transportation! I updated the previous post about transportation. You can check it out here.

Also, I contacted It's Tasty Too about doing our wedding cake on Sunday, but I haven't heard back from them yet. If I haven't heard anything by this weekend, I'll try contacting them again. You should see my very artistic "Paint" drawing of this cake :rotfl:(I'll post it after they contact me so I can give you guys more details).

The bridal shower was a ton of fun and we got a lot of great gifts! I am so blessed with great family and friends. My Mom teared up at the shower, which doesn't bode well for her at the wedding . No one (including me) brought a camera :confused3. I'm so sorry, no pictures :(.

The marathon is this Saturday and I am so not prepared :scared1:. I'm pretty sure I'll at least finish and that's all that matters to me.

I think I've received all of the responses we're going to get for the wedding. We have 27 coming to the welcome party breakfast and 32 coming to the wedding (those numbers include Matt and I).

My Dad asked me if he's supposed to wear anything under the wetsuit. I think I laughed for a good fifteen minutes.

I think that's it for now! Things seem to happen daily now, so I'll be checking in more often with updates.

Yay! You are getting close! Im following along with the updates! What days will you be in Orlando? We will be there from Dec 7th - Dec 14th (late in the evening).

I know! So are you! :goodvibes I am so excited!! I have been lurking on your PJ! I'm terrible about leaving comments, but I love all your plans!

We arrive on December 8th and leave on December 16th. :hyper:

I've had a big, fat monkey wrench thrown into my cake plans. I contacted It's Tasty Too a week ago to see about doing our wedding cake. Today I get an email back saying they are completely booked for that week :(. I called two other bakeries and got the same thing. I'm not too upset about it as it's just really for the two of us to enjoy, but I still want us to have the ceremonial wedding cake!

I thought about getting Disney to do our wedding cake for our dinner at Jiko, but I haven't been impressed with the cakes I've seen that come out of their bakery. I don't mind spending $200 on a cake, but I want it to blow me away!

With all that being said, I formulated a plan that probably sounds better in my head than will be implemented.

I'm getting Garden Grocer to deliver some groceries to Old Key West (breakfast items, soda, etc.). I thought, I'll throw in a thing of Duncan Hines vanilla frosting...

Then I remembered how much I LOVE the brownies at Earl of Sandwich. I love the brownie'wiches even more, but there's never any guarantee that they'll be there (and my only chance to go to DTD before the wedding is Saturday night and they'll more than likely be sold out of them). I went to Earl of Sandwich's website and saw that for $20 you can pre-order any assortment of 10 brownies and/or cookies (even better! I get a few cookies out of the deal!).

I figure I'll take 4-6 brownies, slather them with frosting, and stack them. It shouldn't take me long to assemble our brownie wedding cake and will taste delicious. I don't know if I'd be going this route, though, if it was more than just the two us eating it :lmao:.

Oh, and I ordered this cute little wedding cake topper from Etsy:

Two Peas in a Pod!

I may still do a mini wedding cake for our dinner at California Grill on the last night of our honeymoon, but I wanted something to at least have on our actual wedding day. And to have an excuse to pick up brownies from Earl of Sandwich in the future... ;)

Our wedding cake knife I actually bought years ago (right after reading lurkyloo's wedding PJ/TR and hearing that they had been discontinued)). I bought the blue one (they come in several colors and you can still find them on Ebay). Now all I have to do is find where I put it :).

**On a personal note, I finished the marathon yesterday with a time of 5:22! I'm so glad it's over and now I feel like I can turn all my attention fully to this wedding. I have a big planning phone call with Discovery Cove this week!

Publix is known for doing nice wedding cakes at a reasonable cost. There is one right around the corner from Discovery Cove too if you wanted to pick it up on the way home.

Congratulations on your marathon!! I think that's a great time!

Loved your episode of the the podcast, you sounded terrific!

Bummer about the cakes, but I'm with you--I think your brownie cake idea sounds like it will taste WAY better than any old REGULAR cake :)...now I want a brownie...or 12!

The two peas in a pod cake topper is adorable.

Have a great day!
Brooke

I like the DIY brownie cake idea, and also Publix!

If you do feel like you really want a cake delivered to your Jiko meal, I say talk to AK Private Dining about having one made by the GF and picked up by someone in AK's private dining. They actually offered to do this for me once... dunno if it was a fluke, but that's one way to guarantee a good cake.

Also, from what I've seen on the cake thread, AK's cakes aren't bad, they just may not have the capacity to do something fancy. I'd have a chat with them before you give up completely. :thumbsup2
