Some close friends of ours are going into the hospital today as their 2 year old son is having major surgery. They will be in the hospital for a while and they live accross the country. Do you have any recommendations for what we could do for them accross the country? If we lived close I would bring them food in the hospital as they have commented at how sick of hospital food they are after multiple hospital visits for their little boy.

Should we send gift cards for food? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Do they have an edible arrangements in their area of the country. Most people have been very appreciative of the fresh, cut up, ripe fruit that is delivered with these arrangements. I'm sure a welcome snack of pineapple pieces, strawberries, etc. would be wonderful as opposed to what they are grabbing while sitting around the hospital.

You could also google what's around the hospital and send gift cards to those restaurants. One of them could leave and get takeout from there.

I second edible arrangements. They do come in as very practical.

Edible arrangement, food baskets - breakfast or lunch. Gift cards. Just a card here and there to let them know you are thinking of them.

Will someone be taking care of their mail - do they need their grass cut, checking in on the house, etc.
