Hey there,

Just wondering if anyone has suggestions about what they like to do and places where they like to eat in NYC.

Some friends and I are heading down in a couple of weeks to celebrate our
40th birthdays.:cake:

Hopefully the car bombers won't be at it again when we're there. Yikes!:scared1::scared1:

I did post this on the community board but if you fellow Canadians have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks,

April

Have not been in a few years so this may be dated.
Enjoy Carmines just off Time Square. They are family style Italian so it is better to go with a good sized group.

There was also a great restaurant right accross from the Lincoln Center. We grabbed brunch before a matinee. I am not a Pizza fan but theirs was to die for. The rest of the meal was also good.
I believe this is the restaurant.

I also enjoy the parks and walking in Manhattan.
Central Park is wonderfull and the carousel is only $2.

There are also some nice walks along the water from Battery Park.
And of course I have to have a NY hot dog, preferably in one of the parks.

We love NYC! Sadly, the bug Disney store is closed right now, but we always visit Central Park, FAO, TRU and the Nintendo Store. TKTS is a great deal for shows and Tavern on the Green is a great place for a birthday celebration (did that for DH before kids).

There is a King Tut exhibit right now that I have heard from many is great. We are thinking of taking DS before our cruise out of NYC this summer.

For food...

My cousin (Christina Tosi) opened and has been on many a TV show (Martha, Regis, etc. and has won a bunch of awards) cooking some of her creations from Momo***u Dairy Bar

NOTE: Sorry this got censored, nothing profane about the name or the dessert spot, did not mean to get sensored or to potentially offend one.

Another favorite is S'Mac in the East Village

And Ray's Pizza and coffee and doughnuts from the doughnut carts, but there is Timmy's in NYC if you need a fix. Oh and the hot nuts and the knishes from the cart guys too.

Have a great time!

Thanks for the suggestions.

We are really looking forward to the trip! It's good to have a few places in mind before we get there.

I am not sure on the days that you are going, but see if you can get into a taping of a show. We have been to David Letterman, and friends of ours have been to:Regis and Kelly, The View, and the Today Show.

Carmines as mentioned is still there (we ate there last week) and AWESOME!! Great homemade Italian and well priced. Also, Shake Shack makes the best burgers and cheese fries! Ever!

Central Park is ideal to walk through or even rent a bike and ride all over!! Take time to sit on the grass and people watch!

Museum of Natural History is awesome...takes a good part of a day to see it all. The Moma, hmm you better be into Modern art!:rolleyes1

I always enjoy doing the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island as well as the Empire State Bldg every few years. Get the Audi tour at the ESB, it's very worthwhile.

Of course, you can't go to NYC and not see a Broadway show. TKTS in Times Square has discounted tickets available 'day of' the shows.

Enjoy a NY Deli..they are a must do experience!

Soooo much to see and do...but a Patio in Soho with a glass of Wine is ideal on a Saturday afternoon!

ENJOY!

We went with a group once and went to Ellen's stardust diner. It was so much fun!

Aside from the obvious- seeing a Broadway show, Central Park, walking! NY is a great walking city! We walked from Central Park West down 5th Ave stopping at The Plaza Hotel, Tiffany's and all the shops along 5th, classics! St. Patricks Cathedral, Rockefeller Plaza. Go downtown to Little Italy & China Town. There is a great museum there- The Tenement Museum. It was fascinating. South Seaport. The Village. Macy's on 34th St is fantastic :goodvibes Have fun!
