Splash Mountain refurb - how often?

Our last vacation to Disney World was in February 2010. Splash Mountain was scheduled to open after refurb the day we left, so we didn't get to ride it.

We are heading back Dec.29/11 - Jan.7/12 and Splash Mountain is on the top of our must-do list since we missed it last time. Any idea how often they refurb Splash Mountain and if they will schedule a refurb during this busy time at the parks? Thanks!

It is usually closed every year, much of January, sometimes into February.

However, there is a chance that they will not close Splash early in 2012, due to
a possible refurb of Big Thunder Mtn. at that time.

Only time will tell.
Stay tuned.

They would not likely begin a refurb until Jan. 3, or so, anyway.
