Some in DVC group having shorter stay?

My MIL is buying 210 points at OKW and we're looking at a big family trip next year at a grand villa. We were looking at a 7 night stay, but now they want to do a 10 night which we won't be able to do. So if we leave after 7 days can we still all get the dining plan with our tickets or does everyone need to have the exact same thing? She called Disney and when she mentioned "DVC resale" they clammed up and gave no help. Has anyone tried to use the dining plan in this way?

Everyone on the reservation has to have the dining plan for the entire length of the reservation. All occupans of the room must be on the reservation. As far as park tickets, with DVC it doesn;t matter, you can have any park tickets you like, because the dining plan is tied to the villa reservation, not park ticket media. I assume that since your MIL is buying 210 points, she is not yet a DVC member. For member services where you buy your points doesn't matter, but you must be in the system as a DVC owner for Member Services to talk to you.

Chuck is right if you are in the same villa, or if your MIL makes several room ressies together. If you are on the same ressie, or if the ressies are "linked" together, everyone has to buy DDP for the full term of the reservation.

However, you could get DDP for only your portion of the trip if you were in a separate room, and on a separate reservation.

Since you are staying a shorter time, you'd probably want your own room anyway. Just have her make two different ressies and do NOT link them together. When you check in, you can ask the front desk CMs to put your rooms as close together as they can.

Everyone on the reservation has to have the dining plan for the entire length of the reservation.
Even if you get stuck having to buy three days extra DDP, that's not the end of the world. If there were two of you, for example, you'd have six "extra" TS credits for the three days you aren't going to be there. But the DDP credits apply to the room, so anyone in that room can use them.

Let's assume your larger party has six adults on the dining plan. If you do one signature dining event for everyone, you have used your extra six TS credits. In ten days, someone will figure out how to gobble up the six extra CS and snack credits!

ETA: Taking MIL and party to California Grill on your "extra" credits might be a very nice "thank you" for the lodging she's providing.

Thanks to everyone for the information! It is true that the extra credits will get used, and as for treating the MIL to Cali Grill, I read this out loud in front of her and it was the hit of the night! Although FIL said that he should be thrown a bone too. Thanks again guys.
