Solo Dining Recommendations

I have to say though, that when I did my CP at Chef Mickey's we had a couple of solo wackos come in, who you couldn't hep BUT notice, haha. We as CM's never minded if it were 1 or 15... or more, usually. (That Argentine party of 52 was outrageous, but that's a story for another time.) =D

I second this. My son and I arent very patient people sometimes. So when we'd walk up to TRex, quite often we wouldnt want to wait so we'd just grab a seat at the bar. I actually love it there! you have a nice view of the aquarium. Plus when the ice room has a medeore shower, the bar changes colors too. Its pretty neat. We've done this a couple of times.

Teppan Edo is great for solo travellers, because you dine with other people. Same with Biergarten.

50's @ HS has a bar, you can order off the menu. Not sure if the bartender will pick on your manners, but i dont think so? :P

Raglan Road @ DTD, their bar offers a great view of the stage performance. You can also eat at the bar. Food is great!

I second Teppan Edo! I was at Disney for a conference and found it was one of my favorite solo sit down meals!

went everywhere I like and love and nothing felt any different than when I was with ppl
Yep. Just eat at any restaurant that you are truly interested in, or may never have the chance to visit again, without regard to being solo. I have enjoyed many of the TS restaurants in WDW without any issue. I know a number of the DIS vets love to eat at the restaurant bars. Personally, I prefer the full experience and theming of the main restaurant and would urge you to just go and enjoy. :-)

Just enjoyed an awesome lunch at the bar in Yak and Yeti. Strongly recommend for adults and solos. Friendly, but not intrusive bartenders and plenty of activity to keep you entertained. I had a Yam Attack and Ahi Tuna nachos. So so tasty!

Teppan Edo can be hit or miss depending on who you're seated with. I had a very awkward lunch there sandwiched between 3 other parties who couldn't have been less interested in conversation except to call attention to how odd I was for being 30 and solo and having an AP. It didn't particularly bother me but must remember your experience could be enhanced by dining with others, but it could go the opposite way too.

Teppan Edo. Not only do I happen to like that particular restaurant but they have many people seated at one grill. We've often been seated with people doing solo trips there and had full dinner length conversations with them. It's an environment that makes it easy to converse with others and not feel like you're intruding.
I am going alone in October and booked one of my dinners at Tokyo Dining. I looked at Teppan Edo but being an introvert, the mere thought of being seated at one grill is a huge turn off. I had been to Tokyo Dining once, for my birthday, and liked the quiet atmosphere.

Being solo has never had anything to do with it for me--I just go with what I want to eat (and where I can get an ADR:D). Solo is solo and there is nothing you can do, you just have to get over it--and you'll be surprised at how many other solo diners there are in WDW! Just enjoy your time there--I always feel like I'm so lucky to have the opportunity to go to WDW, solo or otherwise.

The issue is that if you're an introvert as I am, is it not as easy as just 'getting over it' when eating solo. However, being able to go to WDW, either solo or otherwise, is indeed wonderful.

Of course you're right, it's not easy. I guess I'm just older and after so many, many years of doing this solo, I just had to do it if I wanted to eat something besides fast food when I was on vacation. Hope you have a great time in October! My next is December--can't wait for the get away!

Not sure how old you are, I am 48. I have gone to WDW since I was 12, but this will be my first time going solo. I have to admit I have gone from a bit reticent to really excited about this trip. At first I felt odd, because I have always been there with family, friends, dates, even on a junior grad school day (I used to live in Tampa, so schools used to do Disney sometimes - Busch Gardens other times). But, going completely alone, never. The more I plan things out, though, the more comfortable I have gotten with going alone to the point where now I can't wait. Granted, I may walk into the park my first day, alone, and feel the world caving in on me (cue B-horror movie music here), but somehow I doubt it.

I'm older and this December will be my 4th time solo. I guess I'm used to doing lots of things solo, so going to the parks did feel a little strange at first, but then you get into the spirit of the thing. If you're driving into the parks, then listen to the Disney radio, it helps get you into the spirit whether you are alone or not. If you take Magical Express, then watching the videos gets you in the mood for Disney fun. Actually walking into the parks, it's hard to feel solo since there are always hoards of people going through the turnstiles with you:rolleyes2. Walking, shopping, dining I don't really have a problem with any more, but still feel strange at times on the rides--I tend to stick to certain ones, but make up for it by going to all the movies, and going to as many shows and parades as possible. Then I just enjoy the resort I'm staying at. I was supposed to be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani in December, but I just got an email this week saying that I got my waitlist resort--the Polynesian Villas--so that's quite exciting. Have a great time in October and don't forget to stay in touch and let us know all about it when you get back.

I actually have a lot of Disney music, especially the parks. I have a collection that was released in 2005 called A Musical History of Disneyland released for the 50th Anniversary, which contains 6 discs filled with ride music. It has many of the rides in their entirety (like the Country Bear Jamboree, Enchanted Tiki Room, Haunted Manion, America Sings, Carousel of Progress, and many others) and is among the most spectacular collection Disney has ever released. Sadly, it has gone out of print so I was lucky to get it. I plan to create some playlists to listen to on my drive down to Orlando and then back and forth to the parks. I love the whole immersion thing. LOL.

I will probably zone people out while there, and do most rides. I cannot let people dictate my park enjoyment and I venture to say no one will really care. People have become more and more self-absorbed these days to notice much around them. I also have dinner reservations in various places and I will make sure to be fine dining alone. I will do even more, because I write a blog about being an introvert going solo to Disney and I plan to post thoroughly about every detail. I have heard from people who have read the posts and have decided to go to Disney alone because of it, which has made me feel really good about helping others. One person even said she never knew she was an introvert and always felt there was something wrong with her, until she read my blog and figured out she was perfectly OK. I will think of all those people when I am at the park and hope to report back fantastic stories.

I even booked one night of Mickey-Not-So-Scary Halloween. Being a solo introvert at the park, that pushed me WAY out of my comfort zone, but I HAD to do it and will blog about it. It will be, at the very least, interesting and an experience I felt I should go through. Plus I can then stay in the MK that day until midnight. I will wing it with the parades except the Main Street Electrical parade, which is a must for me every time. I will catch it twice while I am there. It was my first Disney parade when I was there in 1980 as a 12 year old and has been my favorite since. When it made a comeback, I was in heaven. I avoid daytime parades and take advantage of shorter ride lines. Also, the Halloween thing will be great because while people stand in line for hours to do character meet and get pounds upon pounds of candy, I will hit the rides and also take in the beauty of the park decked out for Halloween and avoid the sugar coma. I am not a candy eater and I am not much into character meets, but I have seen images of the park lit for Halloween and it looks beautiful and a sight I should take in. It will also be fun to people watch that evening! I love watching people be silly, let go and have a great time. And that is, after all, why we all go to Disney, right?

What a great idea for a blog. It is great that you were able to get more people to do the solo tour of Disney. The more the merrier. I've never done the Halloween party, but I've done the XMAS party a couple of times and like the way the castle is lit during the event. I didn't get tickets for this December. Yesterday, I bought my first Annual Pass, so maybe I'll plan to head down there more and more whenever I can get a decent SW flight. Looking forward to reading your blog on the big trip. Good luck and have a great time!

Going Solo I have enjoyed:

Kona Cafe for breakfast
Sanaa for dinner
ESPN Club for lunch or dinner
BOG for lunch
Tusker House for lunch

My favorite is Sanaa. I am trying lunch there in November.
