Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

I have two, from the same night.

This past March, my niece went to the BBB and became Sleeping Beauty. We stayed in the Magic Kingdom all day, and she was just living a dream. We had a very hard time trying to decide where to eat that night (group of 12 trying to stay together) and ended up at Peco's Bill's very late. By the time we were done the parade had already started, and all the kids wanted to watch. There was almost nowhere left to watch it from. We ended up in the very back corner to the right of the Golden Oak Outpost, where the parade ends. Some very nice people were kind enough to let the kids squeeze in up front, but still the view was not so great.

My brother picked up Sleeping Beauty and stood her on the top of a trashcan as the last few floats went by. She was glowing the entire time. On the last float, one of the cast members, playing a character I didn't recognize, looked right at her and said, "Are you a real princess??? You sure do look like one!!! Have a magical night sweet princess." Disney magic for that 4 year old. Pure magic.

Then we rode a couple rides and started to head through Adventureland to leave. Not until passing by the princess que did we realize that she hadn't met or taken any pictures with the real Sleeping Beauty. We could see her through the exit and knew we had to make the stop. The entrance was pretty far away, and sure enough CLOSED. But the wonderful cast member at the door took one look at my niece and said, "Wait right here please."

She came back a few minutes later and lead my brother and my niece through the exit for some one on one time with Sleeping Beauty. She was so thrilled, and the manager (i think he was, he was the only one in there in a suit) stopped my brother on the way out to say, "We are so glad she got to meet her tonight."

My niece was asleep in her dad's arms about five minutes later. It was a really good night made better by a couple awesome cast members. My family was already Disney fans from our previous trips, my brothers family is now too.

On our very first trip with our dd who was 5 at the time(she's 20 now) we found Timon in an out of the way place in Adventureland and dd spent about 15 minutes with him since there were no other kids around. I have pics of them laying on the ground playing tic tac toe in her autograph book.

A few years later we were in front of the hat in the Studios waiting in line for dd to get an autograph from one of the characters. When it was her turn and the character(I don't remember which one) started to write, her pen, which we had bought the day before at our resort, broke. The character's "handler" took my daughter to ALL of the gift shops at the front of the park trying to find a duplicate pen. She couldn't find the same pen in any of the shops, so she finally had dd pick out a new one. Once she had a new pen the CM took her back to the hat where she preceded to take dd to the front of all the character lines. When dd had visited all of them, she asked her which character she still wanted an autograph from. When my dd said "Pooh" she got on her walkie talkie to see if Pooh was out of his trailer and escorted us all the way to his trailer and into the front of the line again. I still can't believe how much time she spent making sure my dd had a special time.

I've told this story before. Test Track is one of my son's favorites. That and BTMRR. He will ride them over and over and over again.

Towards the end of our trip on our last Epcot day we were splitting up to do our favorites again. I was leaving ds who was 6 and dh in front of test track and dd and I were going to do something else. I looked up and saw the standby line was an hour wait. Because ds had ridden it so many times already I told them to come with us, the line would take too long, and it would be better if we found something else to do. Ds said something along the lines of "Don't worry Mom, we'll wait, I don't mind waiting."

A castmember overheard and turned to my dh and said "How many of you want to ride?" Dh told him just the two of them. The cast member said "Hurry come with me!" and led them around the side and into the building, alllll the way to the front of the line and straight onto the ride:goodvibes
He told ds it was because he was willing to be so patient. It was so sweet:cloud9:

oh oh I have one! :)
We were in MK last September, just after my son turned 2. We were having lunch at the Plaza and were seated by the window, right by the door. He was standing on the chair looking out the window and he fell. He didn't get hurt but it scared him so he cried. Our waitress, the cutest, sweetest young girl you'll ever meet, came running over to make sure he was OK. She said to me "can I take him for a minute?"...being in Disney I said "Sure!"
She took him right out the front door and walked away...I realized the Move it! Shake it! parade was happening just outside and that's where she was headed...so I followed. She was standing out in the street still holding him and dancing with him...she turned to me and said "I'm trying to get Mickey's attention" I could have cried. Unfortunately she didn't get him, but when we got back inside she got him a free ice cream sundae, and gave us a certificate for free mouse ears. I have a picture of them together in my album from that trip....my mom and I still talk about how wonderful she was!

My daughter loves to trade pins. She traded with a manager at the Poly who commented on how polite she was. She started to talk to him about how much she loves to trade and about her pin collection. He was so nice. He asked us to wait a minute, he would be right back. He came back with a pin that was only available to CMs it was for some kind of service. He also gave her a sleeve of lanyard pins exactly how he gets them.

That was especially exciting to her because she always wondered how they got delivered to the CMs. That little sleeve had several pins in it she didn't have. It completely made our day.

I had her write him a thank you note because i really think they should know how little things can mean such a big deal!

We were in MK on my son's 6th birthday. He was getting all the Happy Birthday's! from CMs, but when we walked by the Pirate's League a CM stopped us, brought him inside and let him scoop a handful of gems from the treasure chest. Then they took him in the makeup room, stood him on top of a chest and all the CMs sang "Yo ho, yo ho, a birthday life for me!"

So, so simple....

We were at the BC last week and they have construction going on. It was hot hot hot hot and humid and we passed a sweaty, dirty construction worker. We knew he had to be miserable.

He looked at us, flashed us the biggest smile, and said "Hi there folks!" like he was strolling in the park or welcoming us into his home.

Now, I don't know if this man worked directly for Disney, but it certainly brightened our day and DH and I both commented how nice that was.....

We went last Sept and it was my DH and boys (6 &4) first trip. DS6 was wearing a Birthday pin and I think it was our 4th day and his name was starting to smear and run a bit. Well...we were in a shop that customized ornaments and a CM came over and asked if she could borrow his bday pin for a min. She wrote his name all over in pretty colors and it came out WONDERFUL! :) It made DS feel very special:cloud9:

Last year my DW and I decided that we really wanted to spend our birthdays in Disney World. My birthday is Oct 20th and hers is the 21st. On the 21st we had tickets for MNSSHP. We also said what the heck we were goignt o get birthday pins but agreed that we would not wear them on the others birthday. I wore mine on all day and the on the 21st she had hers on. She wore it to the Party. We got their early and went to Casey's Corner. We were ordering and the CM behind the counter saw her b-day pin and asked if it was her real birthday that day. She said yes and he said HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCESS! all the other CM's working turned and looked. He then asked if we were having a good time and of course we said yes. DW then went on to tell him my birthday was the day before and this was such a great trip. He walked away to grab our order and came back handed us the tray with our hotdogs and fries. Then he grabed 2 brownies and asked if we like them. we said yes and he put them on the tray. To top it all off he then slid the tray to us and said Happy birthday to us both and that I should also be wearing my pin but understood why I didnt and that it was very nice of me to let DW have her own day. I went to hand him my Credit Card and he smiled and said Happy Birthday and slid the tray to me never taking my card.... :wizard:

Oh my goodness! I just love reading all of these stories!!!!!!!!! :lovestruc

One of my favorite memories was from my HS graduation trip in '07. Three of my friends and I were in line to meet Captain Jack Sparrow. We all were going to get individual pictures with him and then one large group shot. I was the last one of our group to meet him. Apparently my BFF had told him that I was a HUGE fan and when it was my turn, he asked me where my prince was, to which I replied I didn't have one. He then turned to me and said that he wasn't a prince, but he'd love to be my pirate. Oh course I was all flushed and whatnot.
As we were leaving and the next group went up to get their pictures, someone said something to him and he shouted "Sorry, but Princess Samantha there has pillaged my heart" and pointed to me. As if it couldn't get any better...
Later that day when we were walking around, we ran into Captain Jack once again and he remembered me! He did a little bow and said how happy he was to have found his princess yet again. Everyone around us stopped and was looking, laughing, or whatever.
I'll never forget that!

I really wanted a collectible Mickey ghost popcorn bucket last year but they were impossible to find. I was walking down Main street after speaking with a CM at guest services to see when they might be back in stock and heard someone calling my name. It was the CM-she had found a bucket behind the counter, chased me down and gave it to me..totally made my day:goodvibes

When DS was about 13 he decided not to wait in line at Test Track with the rest of us, but to go in the solo rider line instead. After his ride he did not wait long enough for us to catch up to him and we became seperated. We did not see him again for hours and kept checking with GS and anywhere else we thought he might go. It did not occur to us that he would go where he thought we might be-he went to World Showcase where a CM gave him chalk to write a message on the side walk and as he had no $ she also gave him a certificate for a free lunch. His message was Meet me at the fountain every hour on the hour. We located him on the next hour.:flower3:

Every time I see a thread like this I must tell this story. It's not about a cast member but a fellow Dis'er who we never met but is a friend in our hearts.

When my son was 5, we took him on his first trip to Disney. He knew from the beginning that he wanted to meet Chip & Dale, or "Chip and Dip" as he called them, LOL. We searched every day for them but were not able to locate them. on our last day which was at AK, we were walking out the gates and there they were!! I fumbled for the autograph book and pen and I guess I was too slow because the wrangler started ushering them away and refused to stop for my son. It was so sad to see my child running after them waving his book in the air screaming "Chip and Dip, wait please wait!!!!". A few days after returning home I was telling the story on here and a week later my son received a 5x7 autographed picture of Chip and Dale in the mail from a man on these boards. He had went out of his way on his vacation to do something for my family. I still tear up thinking about it.

That is awesome that just proves there are people out there that still care about other:goodvibes

Just wanted to say hi to another Supernatural fan! :wave2:

Love your story about Jack. I wish he was still doing meet & greets!

I really wanted a collectible Mickey ghost popcorn bucket last year but they were impossible to find. Ohh you lucky thing you! I wanted one so much last year, but to my dismay, completely forgot to hunt for one. The kids had me totally distracted.

This year!

We were at DHS once and a CM motioned my daughter to come over to her popcorn cart as we were walking by. She told her to hold out her arm where she then hung a bucket full of popcorn. All she said was "just turn and walk away....." What a riot that was!!!!!

I love these !

I have a few to share. 5 offhand come to mind. We have at least one every trip !

1# Here is a post with pics I wrote about our most recent one. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=38687989&postcount=1

2# Okay this one is a tear jerker for me. My son since he could talk we knew he loved Woody. He used to call him Woody Ha and was always walking around in his Woody costume and always with his hat. . He went as Woody at Halloween 7 years in a row. He has every woody doll ever made. Now years later he STILL loves him just as much. But a few years ago ( I think he was 6 ) we went to the MK . The first time for my son . He was sooo excited to meet Woody. As were going through Frontier Land we saw Woody out greeting guests. We got in line only to be told that the line was closed. I said okay and that we would come back.

Well my son just collapsed in his stroller and just curled up in a ball. No wailing , no throwing fits , he just collapsed. I saw a tear run down his eye. My heart was broken. I went up to the line attendant and tried to explain all the while feeling like I must seem like a annoying entitled guest. I asked them if my son could just at least give Woody a Hi Five or a super quick hug as he walked away. The guy went to ask his manager and not only did Woody come over but he bent down and spent a good few minutes with him . My son just quietly put his arms around Woody and I doubt Woody would ever know how much that meant to my little boy . They didnt rush him and he was so happy. And then they came over and started the Woodys Round Up show and of course remembered him and had him join in. He even got to use the little bullseye horse and Bullseye came over and gave him tons of attention. He was pointing to the Bullseye on his shirt and having him feed him carrots. So magical I cant even tell you. Because this little boy didnt "like" Woody and Bullseye. He "LOVED" them.

3# One time after hearing how limited my sons food choices were the manager at Pizza Planet came out and offered to personally prepare my sons pizza but thats not all. He brought out a Birthday card and a special pin cast members get . But what really touched me is he really indulged my son in a nice conversation even though it was starting to fill with the lunch hour rush. Just the fact that he took time to talk to us. And to a mom of a kid with food issues thats as magical and wonderful as you can get.

4#Another guy at MGM a manager I think always gives my son 2 hotdogs because he cant eat the bun and never charges me extra. My son LOVES that . Instead of feeling like pain asking questions about allergens we are made to feel special. And they dont have to do that . But ts really nice that they just seem to care.

5#One time going into HS a cast member saw my sons birthday pin and personally escorted us through a back entrance onto Star Tours ( my sons pick) . Kids were so excited they got to see a area not many people get to go through.

We went for our first trip in May this year (everyone's first trip mind you) and our first day was spent at MK. We hurried up and got on the first monorail over there only to see another family getting chosen to be "family of the day". :( Well, as we were standing there, a CM came over with a little envelope in his hand. He asked the kids if they wanted pixie dust and gave them both a handful. They stuffed it in their pockets and we still have it here at home. I thought it was so sweet and simple, yet completely made our entire trip magical.

I had really high hopes for Disney and I must say that everything either met or exceeded my expectations. I LOVE that place and can't wait to return.

Just returned from staying at BLT for a week with our 2 adult DS and a friend. On Friday evening DH and I decided to stroll Epcot & stay for Illuminations instead of going to DTD with the kids. Since this was our 3rd time watching it this week, we sat back towards Italy to watch. Right before it started a CM asked if we ever watched it before, we chuckled and said this was going to be our 3rd time this week and have watched it many of times from different areas since 93. She asked if we would want to join her in a special area to view it from to get a different perspective. Of course we jump on the chance! We were directed up the stairs in Italy to watch from the 2nd floor balcony! Oh what a view!!!

The magic of Disney never ends. I couldn't have asked for such a magical ending to our week stay. A romantic evening with my DH in Italy watching Illuminations in what seemed like a private viewing!

Many thanks to all the CM who make all the magical moments!
