Shutters and Port Adventures staff on port adventures

I have never seen this and do not recall anyone mentioning this on this board. Last week on the Med cruise we had Shutters Photographers accompany our tour to Pompeii. We were 1 of 3 buses that was doing the half day tour and I saw the other groups also had Shutters photographers with them. We don't usually buy any of the Shutters photographs but the person took a great picture of our family in the ruins that we ended up getting. I asked her about them coming along and she said this was the first time she had done this specific tour but she had been going along on the Rome tours recently. She said this was part of their job.

The next day we had a Port Adventures person accompany us on our tour in Florance. It turned out to be a good thing as a family was really late, and after we waited about a half our for them, the bus left without them. The Port Adventures person stayed behind to find them.

We almost always use the Disney port adventures, and this was the first time I have seen Shutters or Port Adventures staff on a tour. Wondering if anyone else has had this on any other cruises

Yes they have done this a lot on Med cruises as far back as the first ones in 2007.

We have gone on DCL to the Med in 2007 and 2012, and both times they did it.

We in fact did private tours but they picked us out re the childrens wrist bands and our cruise cards.

In Villfrance they picked us out in Monaco next to the casino in Monte Carlo, and as you say they picked us out in Florence, Rome, and Pompeii, even though we did private tours and not DCL tours, it helps sell photos as most of the time on these cruises you are off from 7am to 6pm.

I saw them less on my last cruise on the Magic earlier this month in Northern Europe but they were in a few places, like City Hall Stockholm.

We had photographers on most of our Med cruise excursions. As well as Port Adventures CMs on some excursions (not just in the Med).

I had one along one time during the Panama canal cruse and she was saying to us they do it to see what is going on on a tour and if they want to do it again or to check up on what's going on with it. That one in particular it rained a lot and some people decided to not go and everyone ended up getting a refund on it.

They were on the Anna and Elsa excursion in Norway (as well as news photographers). In Geiranger, they had a photographer on the walkway to the ship and by the troll (so it's not just excursions).

In Molde and Alesund Norway they had Photographers as you exited the ship for pictures. (the 9 Night Fjord trip). Also we had photographers travel with us on one the excursions in Molde. (Also our Cruise Director(Natalie) traveled with us in Molde)
Years ago, we had a Port Adventures person travel with us to Boatswain in grand Cayman, but not sure why, there were some issues we had with that adventure and she wasn't able to help us.

In Olsen, Norway we saw the Cruise Director (Natalie) in street clothes, on the trail to the Briksdal glacier. (Safari BBQ adventure)

In Norway was saw lots of the crew staff in plain clothes on adventures. I guess if there is Room and they don't have to work they get to go.

Hi,

While I have never taken a Med cruise I have taken a Panama Canal Cruise and when the ship goes through the the canal, the photographers get off the ship and take pictures of the ship physically going through the canal and then they get back on board. So, photographs can definely get off the ship to capture special events like going through the Panama Canal!

It wouldn't be a bad idea for them to Disney to start to allow this. A chance to get some nice photos depending on the type of tour that is. Touring a city with famous landmarks? Great. Riding on a boat to snorkel, maybe not so great.
