Shower Filter

Plz don't take this the wrong way but if u mentioned this u must have known or thought twice about it. :teacher:

The only thing I thought about was if the showerhead with the filter works or not. It has never crossed my mind as to actually changing it. I will be changing it out and will let you know how it works.

Let me ask the OP this -

If you had a guest come to your home and not like the water and just replaced your shower head with whatever he brought with him, then left with replacing it but it didn't work, what would you do?

Now, you say you know exactly what you are doing and that's good. But think about this in your home. No one told you what they were doing, they just did it.

How would you feel if, I, a complete stranger, just did this in your house (I realize I would never be in your house but imagine it). I just did it. No word, no notice. I just changed it and changed it back. Do you really think it would be the same? Exactly the same? No changes whatsoever?

I don't understand why people think that paying money for a stay in a hotel entitles them to change the room that much.

To be fair, a guest coming into your home isn't handing over good money to stay there. Disney wants to make sure their guests return so they want to make sure their guests are satisfied. If that means having their manitenance team change a shower head for a guest, I am willing to bet they will do it. Doing it yourself would not be recommended though.

It isn't very common in the industry to do that. Your hotel made a decision to do that for it's business reasons. None in the consortium we're in would do so because it isn't worth it to us. Disney has no competitive problem and I wouldn't expect they'd do it. Too many rooms (24,000) that would lead to too many requests to make it viable for them. Even 1% = 2400 requests. You'd need dedicated maintenance for that and think if the salary for that.

Regardless, based on the op's post, no hotel would allow a guest to touch the plumbing.

Wow........Its a showerhead people...As simple as changing a light bulb..I am not changing the plumbing, putting in new windows, or painting the room.

BTW..I really didn't ask for anyone's opinion if it was right or wrong..just if it was done before..

Thanks for everyone's input.

I wouldn't change out the light bulbs either. Just as I wouldn't hang new drapes, or put up different pictures. I wouldn't think to tamper with anything in the hotel room. It is not yours permanently. Why would you think it is ok to change out a shower head?:confused3 Do you really think Disney wants you messing with the plumbing at all?

Find a better skin conditioner, shampoo, etc and use them instead of changing out the shower head. BLT has so much damage already that they don't really need more.

We can go on and on about everything single thing in a Disney resort room that a guest may not like. But this is something that is attached to Disney's property. It's attached to the plumbing system. It's not a chair. It's not a table that can be easily removed.

I can see the OP is going to do this no matter what. I am just darn glad I'm not related to him in any way or will be there when he is.

Anytime you put a filter in a shower head you will shut down the pressure somewhat. I wouldn't do it simply because I wouldn't want to give them a reason to toss me for altering property. Another idea, at least for shaving, that my DH does and my dad did was get a good shaving soap and use bottled water. Works.

Good idea. I guess I am not the only one that has shaving issues with the water.

. I think I'd rather be there when he is, than take a chance of getting the same unit after he leaves ;).

I've had bed height issues at various hotels (Las Vegas) and DVC properties. They've been resolved various ways - from offering to have security help me into bed  to changing rooms (SSR) to changing mattresses (LV) to removing the bed frame (OKW). In the latter two instances, maintenance or housekeeping resolved the issue. Neither I nor the property expected me to do anything.

Lesser issues: I walked into a hotel room one night and flipped the switch...no light. Stumbled to the phone...no phone! Back by the elevator, I called housekeeping. Two people were there in five minutes with new bulbs, and maintenance in twenty with a new phone...all after 2 AM. Different hotel/trip: again very late; having just checked in I found the toilet wouldn't flush. I knew the problem - the chain wasn't connected. Still, I wasn't fixing it, so I called maintenance. Explained once on the phone and twice to the man who showed up with the plunger what needed to be done, but only after he tried plunging several times did he check the tank.

I fix or change things at home; I may remove the spread in a hotel (I love the minimal DVC housekeeping) but I won't work on their 'stuff'.

Update:

Showerhead worked...90% of smell and taste gone. 50% of hardness gone. (made for a better shave). :)

No tools needed to switch out heads, just hand power.

To the haters..I also moved a shelf in the fridge and moved the table to a better spot to aid in more room when the sleeper was open.

I guess I now ruined the resort. :rotfl2:

BLT needs a soap tray...Looks like something else I will have to provide.

All in all, a great vacation.

Its the hardwater that bothers me..Very hard to shave and my skin is real dry after the shower. Like I said earlier..I come from a well water water system that has been softened and filtered..You just get used to that type of water.

I was going to say buy a decent moisturizer to keep skin hydrated instead of changing the shower around, but it seems you've gone and come back and tampered with Disney's property anyway!

I sure hope the shower works properly for the guest who are in that room right now

I hope so too. ;)

I am actually surprised it worked. I am glad you had a nice time. I always like to hear when everything goes well. If you have any great pictures feel free to post them. We love pictures... :hippie:

Coming from New England, I always notice how very soft the water at Disney World is and love how it feels :lmao:

You think we would have heard if it had not worked, doubt it.

I doubt it too.

I also doubt the OP bothered to call and ask what Disney thinks about people unhooking or altering the shower heads they have installed in the bathrooms. So forgive me, but I'm not going to bother patting him on the back for getting away with doing something he probably knows would not be allowed by Disney.

Of course I would of posted if it didn't work..Can't you tell that I have nothing to hide. I could care less what anyone thinks. Once I again I did not ask for anyone's opinion.

I asked if anyone has done it before so I could save myself time if it didn't work.

I don't usually post on this site because most people here have some type of opinion that usually means nothing to the post. They just like to speak.

I like how you are avoiding commenting on wether you asked Disney if what you did was ok with them or not. I won't bother starting a post on it, because I think we all know the answer would be that Disney is not ok with guests altering plumming, or shower heads, or chaning out light fixtures. Or whatever else may cross their minds. And I find it kind of sad that you would do something, knowing full well it was not ok.

You can't really think you would come back and post a nah nah na boo boo in your face post and not get any kind of response.
