I don't touch scrapple.

And since we are the diner capital, especially 24 hours diners, 3 am stops to the local diner after a night at the bar/club for an omelete and homefries with some processed swine is the norm.
With a side of disco fries!

We grew up in North Jersey and yes, it's Taylor Ham on the diner menus. Moved to South Jersey and ordered Taylor Ham and they looked at us like we had 2 heads but brought us ham steak! LOL. We didn't know what scrapple was and tried that....blech. No way in heck will that ever touch our lips again.

Us South Jersey folks call it by its REAL name, Pork Roll. But we know those uncultured people up north call it Taylor Ham. ;) I'm surprised the place didn't know what you meant.

Plaquemines Parish claims that.

First Mardi Gras in the New World

Another interesting fact that many are unaware of is that Plaquemines Parish serves as the home to the very first Mardi Gras in the United States. In 1699, Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville settled about sixty miles below what is now New Orleans. This was on March 3, the date of Mardi Gras in France, so Iberville named the spot Point du Mardi Gras and called the small tributary nearby Bayou Mardi Gras in honor of the holiday. This initial point of landing is located in what is now Plaquemines Parish.

I think since Plaquemines parish wasn't even founded until 1807 is why Mobile makes the claim.

Forgot to sdd that it was for the contiguous states.

I thought that was obvious.

Michigan also has the largest muslim population outside the middle east. Of course that was before the refugees began leaving the middle east in droves, so my information's probably incorrect now.

So feel free to correct me - as you all will.

I doubt it was ever correct. Where'd you hear that? Most of the majority Muslim countries in Africa aren't considered part of the Middle East. And even then there are majority Muslim populations in Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Afghanistan. Also large populations in India and sub-Saharan Africa.

Lol! You took the bait!

It's the largest muslim population in the United States - I had a bet going with someone on who would be the first to go out to the web and correct me and I won. I'm sure that it's not the largest muslim population in the world - but your chart references percentages and the info I have is population in sheer numbers anyways - so it's not even necessarily relevant.

What's your criteria? Concentration? Total numbers? In any case, Michigan doesn't have the largest total population of Muslims of any state, nor the highest concentration. The highest total is either California or New York, although there are different estimates. Michigan has famous pockets like Dearborn. Illinois likely has the highest concentration.

Nope. It was Little Nicks Diner on Sicklerville Road, Sicklerville. We were passing by and needed breakfast/brunch. It was a huge transition in moving to
South Jersey....LOL.

You don't know what you are missing. So good!!!

I think that poster was making a joke. It's "pork roll, egg and cheese on a ____" not "a pork roll, egg and cheese on a _____". Traditionally, the blank would be a hard roll.

I live in Georgia. Did you know it's illegal to keep a Donkey in a bathtub in Georgia? Why would that be a law? Who would put a Donkey in a bathtub?

It's all kinds of strange here. LOL

The California state animal is the California grizzly bear (Ursus arctos californicus), which is an extinct subspecies.
