Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Started packing tonight - where the heck am I gonna put all this "stuff?" Good heavens! FE's are done, pirate outfits are set, but I realized we need to pack actual clothes and didn't think to make space for it.

We don't leave until Monday. Hopefully a few of you will still be around waiting like us!

Just two more nights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Safe travels, everyone! (Banana for the road?)

Thanks for making me feel so welcome, everyone! Happy trails to those already on their way and we'll see you all at the meet and greet at the Promenade Lounge.:cool1:

Arrived in Vancouver!!!

Dropped the dogs off yesterday and headed for the airport Hilton. Woke up at 4am and caught the 5am shuttle to the airport. Arrived in Vancouver greeted by overcast skies and a drizzle.

Took the skytrain downtown and walked to the Wall Centre Sheraton. We were able to check in when we arrived at 11am. Walked around town and saw the Disney ship docked in the distance. The Holland America Zuiderdam was the cruise ship in port.

Found outit will cost $ 0.70 a minute to use our cell phones. AT&T considers this another country (how rude :) ). Good thing the hotel has free internet.

Working on staying awake so we can adjust to the time difference. It is now midnight at home and 8pm here. Been up forever!!!

Goodnight and safe trips everyone.

We're still here. Antsy and twitchy, but still here! Trying to get through all the laundry so that we can figure out what to pack. Got the FEs put together - I agree - where is it going to go?! DH bought two extra carry-ons. I don't know what we'll do if we can't cram it all in :lmao:

Maybe I'll bring bananas instead. At least we could make daiquiris :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Hi all!!! Been on the train about an hour and half - met Heather & John in the observation car and just about ready to call it a night!!! It's been one busy day!!!!

Safe travels to all / hope to see many of you at the Pan pacific mon between 4;30 k 6;30 and/or the 3pm meet at the promenade lounge

Day 2

Woke up to guess what --- Drizzle. I would not like to be going into the mountains - the view is probably fog. My wife and I had breakfast in our rooms, some yogurt and Orange Juice we picked up in a store yesterday. Another nice thing about the Sheraton - a fridge in the room.

Put on our rainjackets over our regular jackets and walked to Granville Island. Walked over the Granville st bridge, some great views of the city and walked right over Granville Island. A short walk from the bridge ramp back to the island. The entrance to the island is directly under the Granville bridge. It stopped drizzling by the time we got to the island.

The shops started opening at 10am with others waiting to 11. Had fun window shopping and ended up eating in the public market (borscht and stuffed cabbage). It was different than the Russian or Polish versions of the same dishes we are used to.

Walked back to the hotel afterwards and made reservations for the restaurant in the Hotel Vancouver for dinner. Haven't eaten there since a business trip around 21 years ago. I know this since my wife was pregnant with our youngest at the time.

The sun came out for about 20 minutes around noon but it is now totally overcast again. Gotta love the Pacific Northwest in fall!!!

Vancouver is still a beautiful city but much more built up every time I show up.

Hope no one minds my travelog here.

Disfriends - I decided to go on a bicycle ride this morning and had an extremely bad fall which resulted in a severe clavicle fracture and I only received a sling for treatment. going to see an ortho specialist tomorrow. i still plan on going on the trip just going to be in a lot of pain.

Oh No! OUCH!

Weather update......
Suns out in Whistler now! Hope it clears up down the coast.
I spent the am in North Vancouver at my boys football game. Right at the foot of capilano/grouse mountain. Mild temps but drizzle that let up in the afternoon.

Should be packing......

FE gifts are FINALLY done!!! :cool1: OMG! I thought I'd NEVER finish!!! :headache: But, I did!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Sadly though, I must say... between planning a wedding, packing, moving, looking for a job in Seattle, making the FE, and making the other FE gifts for everyone, the necklaces did not get finished. :sad2: I'm sorry to those who asked for one, and I really, really, really did try, but I just had WAY too much else going on, and the other FE gifts that I made took longer than I thought they would, and we ended up with more people in the FE exchange group than I was anticipating, so they just didn't get done. So sorry, but I've got LOTS else to give in the exchange! :wizard: Just not the necklaces. :hippie:

Thank you so much for all your time and energy on the gifts - I am sure everyone will be so appreciative especially with all that you have had on your plate. :thumbsup2 Only 2 more BIG SLEEPS :yay:

Decided on a plan of attack for Jacob. Instead of trying to keep it all secret until we get into Vancouver, we are going to wake him up with the news so that he can be excited with us for the whole drive down there :) I think he will enjoy that much more, and then we have extra surprise for him in the car on the way down too.

Good plan...then you finally get to talk about it together. How long is the drive?

LOL...no worries about it. Relax and get excited (exciteder?).

I finished up our FE baggies last night...but due to some deceptive packaging I realized I didn't have enough of the main gift for all bags. So did up all the packages anyway and I'm going to pick up the missing piece tomorrow. So some people will have an unpackaged add on gift :rotfl::rotfl: . Best laid plans and all that...:rolleyes1

I think we are finally packed. mostly. At least the big suitcases. All that's left is the toiletry bags and bottle of red wine in DH's carry-on. I have white wine & rum & FE gifts in my carry-on so let's hope I don't get mugged :scared1:. I have to work tomorrow (whose stupid idea was that?!) so DH says he'll finish up the packing. The worries me a little although in all fairness, he's way better at it than I am. I worry too much. :sad2:

Oh no no no...That's such bad luck. Hope all goes well with the ortho and they're able to at least minimize the pain. I think that calls for an extra drink of the day!

Sending pixiedust: your way, hoping that you get better and your doctor lets you travel! I've broken my clavicle before - NOT FUN!!! I hope you heal soon!

The drive is about 3+ hours depending on how many bathroom breaks and the traffic :)

My mom and I got all our FE gifts bagged up last night, even had some things left over for the family that joined most recently :)
I realized though that I put everyone's gift in one big bag, and so I won't be able to put each persons gifts in their separate pockets. So I'll just put the one bag in one of the adults pouches and you can divvy them up accordingly. Most things should be fairly self explanatory as to who gets what, I hope everyone likes them :)

Two more sleeps, well more like 1 and a half sleeps, lol, because we are getting up so early on Tuesday, haha.
See you all REAL soon!

Ahhhh yes, welcome to the "Land of Liquid Sunshine". :wave2:

Vancouver is gorgeous when it is sunny - the sea and mountains. Great too when raining - Love to walk along the beach when the wind is blowing and waves are pounding.

Remember to make a wish when sailing under the Lions Gate Bridge when the Disney Wonder is leaving. (we use to throw a penny when going underneith. Difficult when the wind blows it onto someone elses deck on the larger ships)
:hippie:
