Okay--so here are some photos of what we saw on our own little walking tour of Gibraltar:

As we came off the ship we walked into town and through a plethora of shops. Take some small bills and buy SOMETHING so you can get some Gibraltar Pounds as change. As you get past most of the shops you come to the government buildings with a guard. We happened to walk up just as they were having the changing of the gaurd:

Next we came to one of the many older walls which sourrounded the city to protect it at various times:

Head on through the walls and soon you come to the lovely (and shady on a hot day) Trafalgar cemetary:

We continued on and came to another wall (complete with cannon--lots of cannons in Gibraltar):

After about an hour of meandering and taking in the earlier sights we made it to the cable car and took that to the top of "the rock" where we were treated to views like this:

And saw many of the Barbary Apes (a misnomer as they are actually monkeys with very short tales and not apes). These apes are AGRESSIVE and have no fear of humans at all. They will try to take any shopping bags you have, grab food from hands if you are crazy enough to eat in front of them, etc. However, they are cute:

We wandered around up top for an hour and a half enjoying the views and the trails (lots of very scary drops with no gaurd rails be careful) before walking down to St. Michael's cave (lovely and COOL--it was a hot day--very fun) where we whiled away another hour:

From there we took the cable car down from the mid point stop and walked back to our beloved Magic for chicken fingers and Mickey Bars

Thanks. My favourite is the photo of the monkeys sleeping which Dave got. I have others I love that have more of us though and less of the sights and I was trying to put what everyone else would care about It is a fantastic palce to take photos.

Hey, Kathy, it seems we're in the same boat (in more ways than one ). That's a great idea; I've already started a spreadsheet w/DIS names and real first names. Can add other fields if necessary. I have a feeling I'm going to need a lot of help w/the large # of DISers we will probably have (yay!). I know we had a huge group on the September DD (lots of lanyard people--it was great!).

Thanks, Sarah and CACruisin, for sharing your experiences . I love hearing about the good and the bad, though I'd like to stay away from the scary places . I wonder if there are any threads still available from the previous European repos. Going to have to check that out.

I'm tossing my hat in the ring. I finally caved and booked this cruise on Saturday. Looks like a great group of people and I see many familiar names from the Sept Double Dip

ME! ME! I do have a very cool idea, if I say so myself. On our Sept 27 Double Dip, I interchanged scrapbook pages on my cabin door for all the DISers to stop by and sign. I already have this on my "to-do" list to create some pages to use on our TA cruise. These are very treasured pages.

I'm being lazy by not taking pics of the pages I got signed, but here are some pics I had taken before I left for the cruise of some of the pages I paper-pieced. If anyone else has the itch to do this idea, by all means do it! I cannot wait to make a double-page spread with photos of all my new friends along with the signature pages.

I have a Cinderlla page made as well. I also have the supplies to make other characters like Belle, Aurora, and Pluto, but never got around to them. I might use some of these for our cruise instead of using all of them for my past cruise's scrapbook.
