Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

hello friends,

well here in ohio we got 4 inches of snow. :cold: yuck. did someone forget to tell mother nature that it's april?!?!?!?! :confused3 anyways, on top of that, i've got the flu. Spending most of the day in bed - luckily I've got a wonderful roommate/sister who's been taking care of me.

has anyone made any plans for a dis meet once we're onboard? i thought i read somewhere on here that there's a time and place that dis'ers are meeting once on board. i'm going to try to be more active on the boards instead of being a lurker... i want to come but right now i'm just stalking this board and want to be more involved in the meet!

anyone know for sure (providing they aren't sold out) which excursions they're taking? we're doing the 5-star st. john snorkel and beach adventure, ship wreck cove snorkel tour, and parasailing on CC. also want to book cabana massages for CC. and they have lobster at serenity bay on CC! :jumping1: last time (our only other DCL cruise) we stayed at the family beach and had that buffet, which was good, but i was disappointed the whole trip that i didn't get to try lobster "for free". had i known they were offering lobster on the adult beach, i would have been trampling on women and children to get me some! ;)

also been giving some thought to the "ressie scramble" when we get on board. i suggested to Melissa, my sister and fellow cruiser, that we buy walkie-talkies to help out as we split up to do the ressie scramble. she looked at me, crinkled up her eyes, and said, "ressie scramble? is that a game on board?" lol. i told her i thought it should be, and also get an official name and time slot on the personal navigators! :p we want dinner at palo, brunch at palo, the cabana massages, and maybe to change our dining rotation. anybody have any suggestions for which night to skip and make Palo dinner reservations? read it increases our enjoyment if we don't schedule Palo dinner and brunch ressies back-to-back. i'm all for increasing my enjoyment!

well, it's pretty clear i've been cooped up huh? i'm rambling. oh well. jennat, maybe we'll see each other at the Pop or in the parks. after all, it's a small world... can you believe i just made such a bad joke?

till next time....
Jenny

Hey Jen!

Things have been so busy with business and kids. This was my kids spring break. I had one of those nightmare mommy moments this past week. I took the kids to the museum. We were standing in line at the Planetarium, and my 4 year old daughter said her tummy hurt a little...I thought she just had to poop. But as soon as we got into the theatre...she vomited over everything. They rushed me out to the bathroom and I yelled for my 7 year old son to follow...but when I got to the bathroom, my son wasn't with me...so I went back to the theatre and couldn't get in, it was locked from the inside. He freaked out and started crying...eventually someone let him out...and then my daughter said she had to throw up again, so we ran back to the bathroom, only to find the door locked with a sign saying they were cleaning it.

It was the most terrible hour of my life:)

That was kind of how my whole week seemed to go... How was your week?

Hey everyone,

Who's flying in the day before the trip? Where are y'all staying?

Lisa.

Hey Lisa..............

I'm Missy from Ohio and let's just say I've walked in your shoes...........makes for great stories at the kids weddings someday!

Thanks for the laugh out loud moment,
Missy

Hey Missy,

It is pretty funny now...at the time I was horrified:)

But thanks for the comforting words, it's always nice to know other mom's have suffered these moments as well.

Lisa.

What is always amazing to me at these times is that no other mom stepped up to help you. My husband is always telling me I am too involved, but for goodness sake, some other mom had to have seen your plite. I once got seperated from my niece in an elevator at an urban mall during Christmas season. She was smart enough to stay on the elevator until it came back, but you know not one other person was kind enough to stay with her until she found us! I'm a mom who always has your back..........we need all the help we can get ;) . I am as well a little to fast to panic in these situations thank goodness my husband is more level headed ( :firefight ).

Hope your next week is better than the last.

Missy

Hi all,
Just wanted to say a hello to everyone on our ship. We are a family of four a 2 1/2 year old and 4 month old. We are Jody, Jennifer, Jaden and Jaime and are jumping out of our skin to get on this ship. We have been wanting to go it seems like forever and it was just never the right time. We figured we wanted to go before our oldest turns 3 since he and his sister will cruise for free. We are not cheap just know a good deal when we see one. We are staying in Cat 5 Deck 7. My wife and I have been on many other cruises with other lines so it will be interesting to see how Disney preforms to our expectations. I am sure I wont be disappointed.
We live in Port St. Lucie so I know about hurricanes having survived many last year. We did take the insurance just in case. Cant wait to see all the happy faces in Sept. :earsboy: :cool1:

The big game is tonight U of I against UNC. Should be a great game

The weather has been great here in Southern Illinois and we had a good time this weekend taking in the national parks and hiking. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

So we got us a Florida State University fan on the boards (fsubigdogs) WELCOME

Have fun on your anniversary trip and we hope to see that you are joining us when you return.

Welcome to FSUBIGDOGS and plutojudy. Plutojudy, be sure to check out the prices on cruises unlimited (travel) and all season travel. They are quite a bit cheaper than Disney prices. We would love to have you join us! FSU...affectionately the "J" family....welcome from another J...Jennifer. We are glad you are joining us. The more the merrier.
Lisa, Sorry about your trauma....vomit in and of itself can be traumatic enough without having to deal with it a) in public and B) all the other nightmare events. I am glad it turned out fine :flower: How do you like this weather we are having today :sunny: :sunny: :cool1: :cool1: I love it!!! We will send it your way next Trisha and everyone else in the midwest. But not yet.......
Missy, have fun on your trip to St Louis. Hope it is great!
Jenny, I definately think we should plan a meet and greet. Pick a time and place and I will be there. A thought...maybe we want to wait to closer to plan it because last year it got so buried and new people were always asking. Doesn't matter to me though...just gives me something more to look forward to.
Have a great anniversary, Judy (or is it Pluto :rotfl: ). Going anywhere we can be jealous of???
Have a good day all!

Hello everyone and hello to all the newcomers. Glad to have you along with us. The weather here has been rainy for the last couple of days so, Jen, anytime you are done with the nice weather out your way, we would like to have some here. Actually, it is suppose to turn nice for the weekend so I am looking forward to it. Everything is in full bloom here and aside from all my sneezing it is wonderful. We just had a new Kolh's have their grand opening today and I went to see how their sales were and WOW! The had some great sales going on. I bought a new 5 piece luggage set (which we desperately needed) for 80.00 bucks, original price was 200.00 bucks. I also found a few pairs of capris and some matching shirts. I ran out of time before I could look at their shoes and bags. They had serveral housewares things that I wanted to look at too, so I will be going back. I got 15% off for card application and they gave me an additional 5% for having to wait in line so long. I also still have a 10 dollar off coupon to use. My vacation planning fever just spiked today and I don't think it will drop until September.

Anyway, hope everybody has a good weekend.
Missy- what didn you decide for St. Louis?

 Hi everyone, new and not so new (can't say old). This is Karen #something. Just call me KD now to make it easier.

Well I am now in sunny Florida.. close to disney but on the gulf. :cool1: The last few months have been crazy. In the last 33 days I have gained employment in FL (far from VA), listed my house for sale, sold it w/in 24 hrs, packed my whole house, went to closing, stayed with my family for 4 days after the movers took all my stuff, drove to FL with my husband and two kids, stayed in a hotel for one night, my new place on the floor for one night, waited for the movers to bring my stuff to my new home, unpacked, unpacked and still unpacking, enrolled my daughter in school, started my new job and here I sit. So it has been a crazy month. My best wishes to Karen #1 on her adventure to CA. Hang in there and when it gets crazy just sit back and enjoy the twists and turns that come your way in life.

WOW alot of newbies to the board. I am still getting the spreadsheet togther. Some of you have PM'd me. Thanks. For those of you who haven't please see prev post and do so. If you provide me your email address I will send it to you. I will have a prelim one done and sent out by May1. We are growing fast so our meet should be fun. I think it would be great to have the children come to the meet too. Maybe we could put their ages on their name tag.

Well got to run. It is great to be back home on the disboards. take care all.

Sooo glad you are back KD. Didn't you have a friend that popped in to say hello when you did. What happened to her? We miss you guys, as you are good at posting!!! :cool1: Glad all went well with your move. I'm sure there was a good bit of stress involved!!! Do you like your new house and job? What is your job? How are your kids handling the move?
It is a beautiful day here again today, but I think we are going to share and send it packing toward the east (catch Trisha), we are in the mood for a BIG Winter storm :cold: NOT! Apparently, it is a ready or not senario because we are getting it whether we want it or not. Of course, the weather people don't have the greatest track record. It is what it is.... :sunny: :umbrella: :cold: :umbrella: :sunny: :cold:
Tax season is almost over :Pinkbounc :bounce: !!! Then I get my husband back!!! Yea!!!!
Trisha, Did you have a Kohl's before? Good job on all the deals.
Just booked my airline tickets. I found a great deal on tickets with a short layover in Dallas (38min). I was a little stressed on making it so asked my hubby his opinion. He said to get the direct flight and just pay the difference (he would pay) The difference is $400.00! Well this sounds nice but it irrated me because my only job is to pay for vacations and I try so hard and spend so much time getting the best deals and he just says poo poo to $400.00! It would nag on me....this could pay for ...(our excursions, our rental car, our tickets....etc). So then I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. Take the money and be irrated or book the cheaper rate and hope nothing goes wrong. I don't know if it makes sense or not why this bugs me but....Anyway, I split the difference and booked Frontier straight through for $250.00 more but they have the tvs behind the chairs. I got 142.00 each way, which isn't that great of a deal from Den to Orlando but it didn't seem like they were going down and it is done!!!! Joined AAA yesterday because it saved me over $100.00 on the hotel and it only cost $63.00 to join so that was a deal. Now to the rental car..... (PS we are going for two weeks, one of which is the cruise, thus the hotel, etc.)
Anywhoo....
Hope all is well with all!
PS DOn't you love how I complain about my husband because he wants to pay more and sly direct....The Jerk :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh to have my problems!
Trish....I have got your freezing cold slab of beautiful mountains waiting for you...and it NEVER rains....come on out!!

snow white,

my sister and i (me 25, her 32 at the time of the cruise) are both single and vacation together. we're not guys, but we're fun gals to help offset the feeling that you have to be a family to enjoy WDW or DCL.

Hope to see you at the cruise meet (when is that, btw?).

Jenny

Hey Jen, sorry about the cold weather. We headed to an Arts festival and then to Clearwater Beach for the afternoon warmth and sunset. :sunny: There was a lot of stress with this move. Actually since January when we decided to make this move and change our lives. The kids have handled it very well. My daughter is 7 so she understands the move etc. My son on the other hand, 3 y.o., thinks we can still run over to my parents for dinner. He knows we are in FL but doesn't understand the concept of distance. We talk to family regularly so that helps. I work in Insurance (casualty claims). I was in management but when we decided to make this move I decided to step down and go back to being an examiner only. Less stress in one area of my life. I am happy with my decision, babysitting and dealing with corporate cr&* was getting old.

I have to get focused on this cruise again. I need to schedule my excursions and figure out this reas stuff. I added it to my ressie but haven't done much else with it. I was told by my agent that I would have to deal with DCL on all the reservations etc. ?? apparently once I pay them off (next few weeks) they are all done with me. Not sure about that. This is the first time I have used them.

My friend Tracy did pop in on the boards. She has been busy too. I moved away from her but still talk with her almost everyday (by phone or email). Her and her family are great. Our kids get along great until the boys get on each other's nerves.

Hang in there (in the cold) warmer weather is coming your way... I blowing it up there/over there?? now. Bye for now... :wave2:

hi everyone,

in keeping with my "beginning-of-spring" resolution, i'm posting again instead of lurking. ;)

skycon, what spreadsheet? i saw to look for a previous message about it but didn't see it. i know i need to PM you with who I am but can you provide details again?

ohio is finally beautiful. the great state always manages to come around eventually. i'm sitting here in the living room with both sliding glass doors open, all three windows open, and enjoying the breeze and the birds. i'd still rather be cruising. :) it's in the low 70s, blue sky, and white puffy clouds. :sunny:

my sister Melissa (and fellow cruiser) is on a business trip to D.C. until Tuesday. I'm stuck hanging out with my other "roommates" my dog Oliver and her two cats Jasper and Calli. We'll be watching a lot of TV. :grouphug:

well, not much else is new. just wanted to pop in and say hi! skycon, i'm glad you are happy with your job change. before i started back to school, i worked for westfield insurance as a commercial services specialist - basically i just entered and quoted new policies. couldn't imagine being a rater or underwriter.

enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Jenny
