Any word from recent cruisers as to the current affected areas?

St. Martin is one of the islands listed as having problems, but we didn't have a problem with it when we were there in June. We didn't go to a beach when we were on St. Thomas so I can't say whether it was a problem there.

We just did St. Martin in July and there was a ton of seaweed in the water and on the beach at Orient Bay. Nothing of note at St. John or Castaway Cay.

Wow, on our Dream cruise in '11, Serenity Bay was BEAUTIFUL! CC was the FAV part of the cruise!

I'm sure they try. I have a trip planned to Cancun next month and have been reading about the problems they have been having with this. The hotels try to clean it up frequently but there are times when they just can't keep up. But reports are that the amount of sargassum coming ashore can vary widely from week to week, or even day to day. So it might be really bad when one cruise is at CC, and not a problem at all a week later.

we were on CC in January 2013 and one week it was like this and the next week it clean!! Oh yea, the Ocean will do whatever it want's to whenever she feels like it.

Do they not rake the beach every morning before the ship arrives? Most mainland resorts do, and I'm sure they do after everybody leaves each day. Doesn't take very long to do.
