seasick how bad?

No worries, if you can handle your dad's 23' boat for a day and it doesn't bother you, then you can easily handle a cruise ship. Don't make yourself sick over it.

I agree. A small boat in the ocean is a nightmare for me. The cruise ship is much better.

I personally haven't had the shot, but both people that I know who have reported that it knocked them out for the better part of a day. When they woke up they felt much better.

Whew. Thank you. My dad does drives like a maniac out there on that boat! I guess I will take all my OTC meds with me but try it out first and not worry about taking them before I get on. Hopefully I won't need them.

One thing to note, though is that most OTC seasickness meds (like Bonine) are really only effective if you take them *before* you get sick. That's why a lot of people start taking it the day before they sail. Bonine totally puts me to sleep. Everyone reacts differently. I strongly suggest that you try any meds out beforehand to see how you react to it. If I need to take Bonine, I always take it before bedtime, so that I can sleep it off overnight. Personally, I find the patch most effective. I put the first one on the evening before getting on the ship. But everyone reacts differently to the patch. Some people have really bad reactions (blurry vision being one of them). So, again, I suggest trying out the meds beforehand.
