Scott & Biff are moving to Disney, a new TR...Update 8/16 - Day 4.1

Day 1: Part 1

I love and hate departure days. Love them because I am getting to my happy place but hate them because we prefer first flights and getting up is never easy. The night before I might have gotten 2 or 3 hours of sleep. We had a car coming at 4am so I set the alarm for 3am. The alarm went off I jumped up and showered and shaved. I said to Vinny they would be early so lets be prepared and we went downstairs at 3:50 and once we got down there the car pulled up.
The ride was a little fast going to the airport but I am a backseat driver and don’t like anyones driving but my own. We got there in literally 20 minutes. I was hysterical. We could have slept another 45 minutes.
We paid the driver and then went to curbside check in and handed over our bags and then we proceeded inside. We are TSA Pre Check so it was a quick walk through security and soon enough we were in the terminal. Nothing was open yet so we went down by the gate and sat.
The Au Bon pain soon opened and we walked back up front and went inside and had breakfast. I had an iced coffee and bagel w/ cream cheese. Vinny had coffee and chocolate croissant. Both were good and when completed we went back to the gate.
Boarding was at 5:55 am and we were now getting on. We took our seats and sat there. Literally just sat there. Half an hour goes by and we are waiting.
Then an hour. The Captain comes out to tells us their is a problem with the plane and they are checking it.
Overall the wait was 3 hours long and we had to switch planes and terminals but we did finally get in the air.
Here is the broken plane.

Would you like to know the reason? The mechanic (only one there) could not open a panel. OY! Better safe than sorry but still annoying.

Still waiting on the ground.

Selfie time.

Soon enough we were on the ground and in Orlando. The BEST part of flying this time, wifi on the plane. I think I facebooked the entire trip. I did lose my window seat when we switched planes and I never flew on the aisle but I dealt with it. They did upgrade us to extra legroom.

We were going to OKW to check in and then go to the Dolphin to pick up a car rental. I went up and asked the CM at DME check in if we could switch the ME from OKW to Beach Club (it is next to the Dolphin) and he asked someone and they said yes I just needed a written pass. The CM gave me it and I was done. It was so easy. Now we were going to pick up our car for the week. Here was the weather. :(

The best I could do for the arch.

First stop was CBR.
17470343621_e3a86bd74f_c.jpg

There was a bus in front of us going to the airport when we arrived there. A father was trying to get on but obviously his family was not there. After a few minutes of waiting they had the bus pull out and move into the parking lot and it did this the rest of the family came but let me tell you there they were in NO rush at all. I could not believe how rude they were by strolling along like they had all day. The bus literally waited for them and the father was screaming but they didn’t care. They did make it on the bus and I give Disney credit for holding that bus up to wait for them.

Then we were out of there and the next stop was Boardwalk. I decided we could get off there and walk over.
What a great view.

We did stop at the stand on the boardwalk and ordered french fries and mac n cheese bites and sat down and ate. We were hungry.

Now lets go get a car.

I do love these resorts, I think they are so pretty.
16850324043_1f47f404e1_c.jpg

We went inside and had a great time chatting with the employees there and then we were on our way. I asked Vinny to get an arch pic.
17444077426_d7c89cb267_c.jpg

Now I made a mistake and we ended up going a little bit out of the way and having to turn around. But we did get to go under the arch again. LOL.
17282791678_91ed2f1525_c.jpg

We then got to OKW and stopped at the front desk (we did have the room number already through text but needed the parking pass). We got the paperwork and then Vinny chatted with the cast member a little and we went to the room. Our first room was 3220 which was a corner studio on Old Turtle Pond Rd.
The room was very nice, here are a few pics.

And that was the end of our tour of the room. We were happy with the room and location.

I think I will stop here.

Up next,

Getting to our dinner...

That stinks about the delayed flight. I would have been going crazy! :scared:

It was nice for the bus to wait for that family but how entitled! Maybe they didn't realize they were holding others up.

Your room looks very nice.

Joining in! Congrats on the move to FL. I live in Staten Island and find it harder and harder to deal with the cold (especially the snow). Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

Hi Scott I'm glad I found your report and will try to stay with it. Also hope to see you again in Florida when we go next winter

Yeah but they might come through later on.

Flights delays when you're going to Disney are always the worst!
So very true. Worse when you hate flying. :lmao:

Hi Scott! I'm getting back into the Dis again as I just booked a December trip. It has been so long since I have been here and your TR is the first I clicked on. Can't wait to hear about your house hunting trip and the big move!

Day 1: Part 2

Once we looked around we then decided to start heading out for dinner. We were eating at my favorite restaurant on property and I could not wait to get there. We decided to walk up to the front.

Soon enough it was there.

This is one of my favorite things to do at Disney. I find the boat rides so relaxing and I think they should build them to the parks. LOL.

Someone was happy.

The balloon was up this day.
16849920553_55f846d333_c.jpg

Then we had to walk over to the marketplace to catch a bus. I of course took photos along the way. I meant to stop here and eat one day but sadly we never did.
17282596330_f664569f64_c.jpg

Walls are still up but they had pretty photos to look at.
17282570320_96db6efe6e_c.jpg

Then we came to the Lego store.
17283900209_65630ef444_c.jpg

Now we had to go guest services to get the Tables in Wonderland card and we went in and a lady called us over. I handed her the magic band but we hit a snag. We both forgot our DVC cards at home. Now this is the part that annoyed me. My magic band had my annual pass on it but that could not be activated because I didn’t have the dvc card and my question to Disney is why? If I have 2 - 4 forms of ID on me why can it not be accepted? We were told we had to go to Saratoga Springs to the DVC there and get replacement cards. I was not happy, it had been over 14 hours we were awake now but we left and went. We walked across the new bridge and that was really nice. We got to the DVC center and a lady there helped us and within 5 minutes we had the cards. We then walked quickly back to the guest services area and got the card and activated the annual passes. it just seems so backwards to me when you have ID that proved who you are. Card in hand we made our way to the buses.

Then I saw this.
16849870283_b66a146285_c.jpg

I loved it but I still haven’t seen the movie. LOL. I think I will stop here for now.

Up next,

Food and animals..
