I just rolled all the change in my Piggy (Huge Coke Bottle) Bank...

Here is the total:

$954 Canadian and $181 US...

I even had $13.01 in Pennies...That is about $11 US so that is worth all the trouble of saving it and rolling it up.

This Money is not really for the trip as it is for flooring in our new house...

Saved it all since December 04.....Worth it!

I just started a few weeks ago and I've already saved a lot. Not tons, but I am single and think I've done pretty well.

Congrats. I've been trying really hard with my change jar. I still have about 9 months so I'm hoping by the time I go I have around $1000. I just throw all my change and singles in there. Here's hoping I won't dip into it!

We've done the "change jar" since our first dd was born, almost 8 years ago. On her birthday each year we take all the change (rolled of course) to the bank to deposit in her savings account. Dh and I also match whatever amount is in the change jar. We're trying to set the pattern for her so when she starts earning her own money through allowances, etc she'll be encouraged to save as much as she can to see mom and dad match it.

Now that we have another dd in the family we deposit the change twice/year, once on each birthday. It's been a wonderful way to add to their savings account! And it's fun and sentimental for us, too.
