RotR Planning & Daily Boarding Group Discussion - *CLOSED*

Is the parking lot at DHS always open at 5am? I was thinking of driving over at 5am, but wondered if we'd be turned away at that time?

Was 91 confirmed as the highest number of boarding groups? That's not a bad day for Disney then, even with a few breakdowns, they got through everyone who expected to ride today.
I am not sure. I haven't seen anything higher so thats what I went with. If there was something higher I can change it.

I agree. I'm hoping they stick with the 8am open in early Jan. However, I bet CM discussions with those that arrive after park open (to an already completed BG distribution) is a little easier (i.e. perhaps resulting in less condolence perks) than negotiations with those that enter at posted park opening (or earlier) to find that they missed out due to an officially unannounced pre-open.

I've been thinking about this and at first glance, it seems unfair but after further thought, I'm not sure it really matters. Say Disney opened the park early before official posted time but still waited until the posted opening to start excepting boarding groups, the people already in the park are still going to get the boarding groups first while the 7am folks are still trying to get in. It's the same result. Say Disney decides to not open until the posted 7am, the people that get there super early will still be there waiting in the front of line which will result in them getting in first and still getting the boarding groups first again. It's still the same result. Bottom line, if u want to be guaranteed a boarding group number then get there early cause no matter how Disney does it, the end result will always be the same and that's the early bird definitely gets the worm in this scenario. That said, I plan on being at the park around 6am on Friday the 20th and will be shooting for a late afternoon BG.

Good enough for me!

Seriously, we were NOT planning on riding this ride at all during our 2020 trip. I thought it would be best if we just avoided the madness and tried again in 2021. But now I'm trying to figure out if we might be able to ride it each day of our trip 😂 Also we watched the video and now The Boy's greatest wish is to see the "Trooper Army". He does love him some troopers.

It seems like on 8am opening days the BG availability lasts at least until 8:30 even with an unannounced park open of 6:30, while with the 7:00 official open they've been gone by 7:30. Maybe the later official opening really does help spread out the crowds a bit?

5:42 Uber pick up from POP
5:49Uber drop off at HS
6:01 AM backed up beyond the ticket windows in a large mass of people. About 40 people deep beyond ticket windows.
Where did you wait for Uber st Pop? And how long did it take from online requesting the Uber and when it arrived to pick you up. Thanks!

i have 88. Also I know a story was shared on here about the cast pixie dusting one of our posters on a day they got through all BG. But I don’t think they were give any special treatment. According to some operations CMs at MK I talked to the next day, they opened the line up for everyone. You just had to be in the right place at the right time. But then the ride broke down for the rest of the day and they gave comp FP to everyone in line. Take this for what it’s worth. Idk if true or not. But it makes more sense to me than just letting random people in line. They either keep the ride going or they don’t.

I'm the poster who received the pixie dust the other night. All I can share is what happened to us. The CM who let us in had to personally escort us in, stop and tell two different people she was allowing us in and then escort us through the queue all the way to the point where you enter the first room.

Once we exited the ride, we sat and watched for a few minutes. We saw several people walk up to CMs and ask about access, and they were all told no. So take it for what it's worth -- my conclusion is we got some awesome pixie dust. Either way, it made for an amazing night for us, and I hope others are similarly blessed!

Can I leave the park once I get my boarding group If I have the park hopper? I read that that once you get your push notification to board, you have 2 hours to be at the entrance of ROTR attraction.

This actually only happened I believe on 2 days when the posted opening time was 8am. In all other cases the BG were distributed before posted park opening. It is perhaps why they moved it to 7am, so that all the BG are not distributed before opening.

I am traveling with my wife and 3 kids ages 9, 6, 4... we really want to experience ROTR, but getting there at 6 am seem a bit harsh for them.... so If I were to get to the park by myself with my families bracelets (4), can I check them in without them being at the park get the BG go back to the hotel sleep in and get to the attraction once I get the push notification?? ; )

Unfortunately, no. Everyone has to tap in and physically be in the park before they can join a boarding group.

No, unfortunately everyone has to physically tap in at turnstiles with fingerprint verification. You could always ask a CM, but not likely to do it for you.
