We absolutely love Rose and Crown! I love the cider with black currant in it (I believe it's the Black and Tan drink) and we both get fish and chips. Ask to be seated outside if the weather is nice!

Rose and Crown is one of our favorites....we just ate there a few weeks ago. The salmon was great and we always like the fish and chips. DH wanted to try something different so he got the bangers and mash and he loved it.

It may not be to everyone's taste but we really enjoy the scotch egg for an appetizer. Delish.

just to note: while the Rose & Crown restaurant and the Rose & Crown pub are in the same building, the pub is a separate entity from the restaurant. If you have reservations, you're in the restaurant.

I've enjoyed my meals at the Rose & Crown. My favorite appetizer is the Scotch Egg.

For the entrees, I like the Cottage Pie and the Fish and Chips.

For dessert, I like the Sticky Toffee Pudding.

The Strongbow Cider with black current is actually called a Cider and Black. The Black and Tan is an ale mix with Guinness (black) and Bass Ale (tan ... ish). Both are quite good although the B&T is a LOT heavier.

We love the scotch egg and the fish and chips ... which are about as good as any you'll find. Super crispy fish.

NOTE: Rose & Crown is typical English cuisine. Nothing special, but usually above
average in quality. Viewing Illiuminations from the patio is a good view, although
seating on the patio is not reserved and you cannot wait for a table on the patio.
The bar/lounge/pub area is classic Engish with a great selection of beer and spirits.
Additionally, the "Hat Lady" piano player is excellent. Overall good for drinking and
snacking, but only so-so for meals. Let's face it, "English Cuisine" is an oxymoron.

NOTE2: People frequently ask for the patio. This is not guaranteed, and you MUST
take the first table available when you are called. You can no longer "wait" for a
patio table. Too many people would walk out if they didn't get the patio, now you
must agree to take the first table offered to you.

I liked the cheese plate for an appetizer, New York steak and toffee pudding for dessert. I've also had corned beef and cabbage and again the pudding yum!

The sticky toffee pudding is the best! Tried to make it at home, but it was no where near as good as at the Rose & Crown. And the outside seating is wonderful....definitely ask to be seated there if possible.

We made reservations for the Rose and Crown in order to try and sit outside and view the fireworks. Is that a good plan? Is outside seating for the restaurant or the pub? Is it 1st come 1st serve for outside seating?

Patio seating is for the restaurant not the pub and it truly is the Luck of the Draw. You can request it at check in, but most people do. They no longer allow you to wait for a patio table.
In all the times we have eaten at Rose & Crown I think we have been seated outside about 30% of the time, and I think that is very good.
If you are seated inside they have a private viewing patio they will escort you to only for the patrons of R & C. It is a good view of Illuminations.
What time is your ADR?

We made it for 6:35 assuming that we might need to wait for a patio table to open up. So, we wont be allowed to request the patio and wait? That stinks.

If we don't eat there to get great viewing of Illuminations, can we still find a spot outside to get prime viewing? If so, where are the best locations?

I'm such a Disney noob so, I appreciate all the feedback!

Just to clarify the food is not very English. Bit of a myth re English not having cuisine have you ever been?

I agree, I'm English and when I read this I admit I was a little offended.

I also used to be a server at the Rose and Crown! :) I love it there, we have a reservation for next week too. The fish and chips are delicious.

Not many seats are outside and it is first come first serve.

I love the meat pies and fish and chips.

This is one of the few places I've ever had Boddington's on tap.

We had a blast at the Rose & Crown! I love British cheese, so I had the cheese trio appetizer. other than the presence of Craisins™ (Craisins™? How much more American can you get?), it was lovely.

I wasn't tempted by the vegetarian option, so I asked if they'd make me egg and chips, and they were happy to. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it reminded me of London cafés and made me happy. For dessert I had the Jaffa tarts, which were delicious; just the right blend of chocolate and orange, whith a Union Jack stenciled in cocoa powder on the plate.

To drink, I ordered the Snake Bite, which was hard cider miked with Harp lager. The waitress sad they called it "giggle juice" back at her university in Manchester. She was really nice, and hung around chatting at each table as long as she could. Because we had a birthday in our group, she brought the birthday girl a souvenir menu signed by all the staff.
