Room Service? and Carry on Coolers?

First time cruising next Sunday.... Just had a few questions for the more experienced DCL people.

Is room service available at anytime during the day/night and free of charge? Is there a specific room service menu?

Secondly, if bringing bottled water/beer/wine onboard can we just carry on our collaspable cooler or does it have to be hidden in a carry on or packed with our checked luggage?


Any help would be awesome!

Room service is available essentially 24/7 (not the last morning). There is a room service menu, but you can get items not on the menu (like Mickey Bars). If you want something that's not on the menu, ask. THe worst they can do is to say no. You can only order items from the real dining rooms thru room service if you are in a suite. The food is free, most beverages are free (including milk and fruit juices). You will pay for coke and other soft drinks and for alcohol from room service.

Is there a limit to ordering from room service? Per day??? Say after dinner we want to order a mindight snack or something for the kids???

You can order any amount you want any time you want. You can also go to deck 9 to the fast food outlets for other choices.

It is customary to tip the person who delivers your room service a couple dollars. The amount usually depends on how big the order is.

For what it's worth, you need to be very specific with room service. We had NO luck with ordering 3 boxes of rice krispies but only needing one bowl. We ALWAYS got 3 bowls and 3 sets of silverware. They will want to know how many cookies you want, what kind of milk, etc.

DD loves ordering room service...but do remember to teach your kids that it's free on the ship but not at hotels!

You can just pack up your collasable cooler with any beverages that you want to take onboard with you. The only thing they ask is no ice until you get to your stateroom with it. There is a listing of what is on the room service menu listed in the FAQ thread at the top of this forum to give you an idea of what the normal fare is, though not everything you CAN get through room service is listed.
