Roll Call

I've just come back from a semester abroad in the US during which time I went to Disneyland twice and spent 10 days in WDW. I have mixed feelings about WDW, I definitely did not have the same emotional connection in Orlando than in Anaheim but I am willing to give it another shot

I felt the same way about wdw when I first went, but now I'm really itching to go back there!

We are doing a surprise trip too!! I am really struggling to keep it from my kids!! I plan on telling them a few weeks before and have a whole elaborate plan worked out!

Tell us! Tell us! :hyper:

My name came from Minnie, being my favourite character and In Oz, where I live (so original).

I live in Queensland and I've been going to Disneyland since I was a little girl (over 40 years) and I have been to WDW a few times and DLP also.

I'm a Disney fan through and through.

Hehe, well maybe I talked it up a bit. It's not really that elaborate!

I have had a jigsaw puzzle made up that says, 'Guess what we are going to Disney etc' and I am going to split the 30 pieces up into 10 envelopes and send them on a hunt to find the envelopes using clues.

I planned on telling them a couple if days before, then decided a couple of weeks. Now I'm considering telling them a month before. Really it's just because I am dying to have someone to share my excitement with. How I'm going to hold it in for the next 8+ months is beyond me!!

ID: I joined up when we booked our Disney Med Cruise, so I could join our cruise group. I tried about 20 different possibilities with an "Aussie" theme and they were all taken. Finally one was accepted but I didn't see the misspelling typo till it was all set up. I hate the missing "l" but there is no way to fix it unless I start again as a new user.
Location: Newcastle
History: once in a lifetime trip to WDW in 2009 led to a Disney hit every year thereafter. I wangle them in as a "stopover" for part of our other holiday - you know, "we should break up the flight home from NY by a stop at DL" or "Let's fly home from Europe via the USA. Hey look - the flight lands in Florida..." This year in April we are going on an Adventures by Disney trip to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Looking forward to hearing about the ABD trip since my DD did a similar trip but as a backpacker last year. Be interesting to hear your experience. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post a TR on your return (with pics and food porn of course!) NB the food was amazing judging by my DD pics and tales - lots of French influences in Vietnam with the Asian twist.

:lmao: That would drive me crazy!!

Yes, you have to let us know how the ABD trip goes. I'd love to do one, but can't justify the cost, so it would be good to hear what someone else thinks about it.

We will definitely do a trip report for the ABD. I can't really justify the cost either but I just closed my eyes, held my breath and booked.

I just closed my eyes, held my breath and booked.

I think that's what I'm going to have to do when I book our accommodation for our next WDW stay. I want to stay somewhere that's walking distance to one of the parks, so that generally means deluxe hotel... :rolleyes1

My name is my daughters nickname

I went to Disneyland & west coast with my parents & my brother when I was 13 & loved it. Then my parents took my sister (13 year age gap) to Disneyworld & New York at the same age so saw photos & have always wanted to go there.

I have grown up travelling, have so many memories of different places that I can't put the memories with the places! My parents spent more on holidays than house renovations. so I have always wanted my kids to have the same experiences & wanted to take my kids to Disneyland at same age as I was.

Hubby's fear of flying has got worse with age but was able to talk him into taking kids to Disneyland in 2012, we also went to San Francisco & Canada (meeting up with my parents who were on Another holiday).

Thought that was the once and lifetime trip to US, but now have talked hubby into trip to Disneyworld & New York for Oct 2014. Flights booked into US but nothing else so far, starting to get a bit overwhelmed with choices & prices & fact everything is down to me organising things. But love planning so keeps me busy.

Dis name : me and hubby together..lol. Very simple too... I use a different name in my other Disney forum not sure why I didn't use here..??
Location : Exmouth, Western Australia

Story : I'm not sure where my love for Disney..(mainly Mickey Mouse) came from...mum said there was nothing specific in my childhood that made me this way. It has been for as long as I can remember. Always remembered through school as the Disney girl, the work the same...lol

. I had always wanted to go and my hubby new I was a Disney nut when we met in 1996.

We finally got to Experience Disney in April/May last year... We had 2 weeks in WDW and a 7 day Cruise on the fantasy. Our holiday was a total of 4 weeks including Universal Studios and around Orlando. We took our 2 sons our oldest turned 10 on the cruise and our youngest is 7. Like PP's said it really is the happiest place on earth. We arrived at POP Century at 7pm at MK by 7:30 crying to the electrical parade and wishes by 9pm....lol

I have passed on the bug to my family and hubby has picked the next holiday and its going to be 5 days back at WDW the a Transatlantic cruise on the Disney Magic..:-)

My whole life revolves around Disney and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I don't post very much as everyone seems to know each other so well, so I just research and read all your great tips..I love coming here everyday knowing I'm not the only one who hasn't had to grow up...:-)

We also did a Fantasy Cruise in 2012, how amazing is it!!

:welcome:

Annz53 is my name plus birth year; once upon a time, when I first started using it, it was also my age ;)

We have lived in Melbourne for 16yrs and before that in Johannesburg, South Africa our birthplace.

Got introduced to WDW through word of mouth and the usual TV and movies and in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2004 went to check it out for ourselves and we were/are "hooked" :lovestruc

Now it's time to introduce the grandkids to our special place which I know will become their special place also. For years they have had to watch their Mom, Uncle and their Grandpa and Grandma at WDW on home videos now it is their turn to actually experience the magic :yay:

But shhhhhh, they don't know yet and the secret is really, really hard to keep so no telling please :rolleyes1

Your secret is safe with us, we won't tell!

:welcome:

Your DS will love it! Start him on Star Wars now :goodvibes

I'll give a brief re-introduction for those that might not know me (or want to...meh).

I grew up on The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights, watching the teacups in the opening credits and told myself one day I was going to go there!

My first trip was at age 23 and I fell in love! (with Disneyland).

I then went when my DS was nearly 4 and he fell in love and I fell all over again.

We then visited WDW, did a DCL cruise and Disneyland when DS was 6 and he fell in love all over again, with WDW.

So off we go again this year, DS is 8, another cruise and DL and some shopping I guess :joker:

:welcome: to all our new posters :cheer2:

oooh shopping! I had forgotten about the shopping... I'm going to have to invite someone to come with us, so we can out number DH on the shopping side of things...

Hi all :wave2:

Andona from Sydney here.

I've been a DISer for a long time but don't post much when I haven't got a Disney trip in the works.

My DH and I love the USA and have travelled all over the place. I'm a Disney fanatic, he isn't . We've visited WDW twice and DL twice and I'm hoping to drag my ( reluctant) DH back to DL next year...it's a work in progress......he thinks we're going on a driving tour of the Pacific Northwest but I figure I can sneak him into DL at the end if I'm really clever...

This year we're off to Hawaii :beach:, a new location for us, can't wait!

Andona

Story:
I've been on the DIS for a while but I'm very sporadic in my visits and my posts, especially when faced with no immediate trip in planning. Life always seems so busy. I'm also too slow...often the answers to questions have been answered more than adequately by others more witty or thorough! I do enjoy reading TRs and looking at other peoples trip photos.

Both DH and I are blessed to have parents who love travelling and we yearn to give the same experience to our children. Fortunately, they travel well and are adaptable! I have always been in love with Disney since my parents first took me there when I was little. It really is a happy place for me, and fortunately, whole family shares my love too. I still get very emotional every time I walk down Main Street of any Disney park. We try to include Disney in our travels as best we can but it isn't always practical, nor makes the most economical sense. Travelling with 3 kids is expensive and there is so much of the world to see!!! With our trip to DLP in Dec 2012, I finally ticked off the last castle. The rest of the family are awaiting to tick off their last castle (Tokyo). We are also all eagerly awaiting for Shang Hai to open.

We are so Disney obsessed that our new house which we have just built has much Disney incorporated into it. Perhaps one day I'll share photos.
