Resident camps for junior high

Yes -- I can highly recommend the camp. DS went in 8th grade to this. It was so much fun that he went in high school too. It's well supervised with wonderful enthusiastic camp counselors and a chance to meet other kids with a similar love of marine mammals from all over the country. Although it's not an inexpensive camp, I personally think it's an excellent value -- as you get to do all the behind the scenes things (Discovery cove, touch a penguin, shark cage, meet with trainers and other who care for the animals, visit the rescue facilities, prepare food, plus of course all the fun summer shows and activities at SeaWorld). What's not to love. Often there are campers from the United Kingdom too. You stay the first and last night in an animal venue -- often Wild Artic and the underwater dolphin viewing area and the other three nights you are with a roommate at the Marriott Residence Inn (at least that's the hotel used when DS went). It was so great that after 9th grade DS did the one in San Diego (liked it, but liked the Orlando one more), and in 10th, 11th, and 12th went to the Orlando one again. Now DS is in college and at the end of the summer, he's going to do the San Antonio camp. That's the only park that has the camps for college students, teachers, and a 25+ four day mini camp for adults. The Orlando camps just go though high school. Can you tell we are fans of the experience? lol
