It reads as though its everyone. Another article on the Guardian http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/apr/25/dvla-driving-licence-paperless-car-hireDo you need to do this only if you have points/driving convictions or also if your license is fully 'clean'?
Hopefully more info will be released but can't see it being any different for the old paper DL, all the info is on there, not sure he will even need a code.My husband only has the old paper driving licence (issued prior to photo cards being introduced in 1998), will this along with the new code & his passport be accepted? (His paper driving licence & passport were accepted for car hire during our last US trip in 2010 & in Europe since then).
Interesting, thanks for the heads up Wayne.
I wonder if the rental companies will actually put this into practice or will it be like the counterpart licences which they are supposed to ask for but never actually do?
Wayne, following your post my husband & l both replaced our old paper DL with the new photocard one. They arrived within a few days.Hopefully more info will be released but can't see it being any different for the old paper DL, all the info is on there, not sure he will even need a code.
The new style is worth its weight in gold for me for ID purposes, this past trip we drove thru 8 different States, some now require ID for every alcoholic purchase whatever age, even if you are 80 or 90 year old. Plus many credit card purchases wanted ID. Its far easier than using a passport.
