RCI Hawaii exchanges...worth it?

We are looking at going to Hawaii summer 2010. It will be me, DH, and 2 DDs. We are looking at a 1 bdrm. using RCI exchange in Kona. Has anyone stayed there??? How was it?

However maybe you should wait. DVC is buliding a Hawaii Vaction Club resort that is post to open in 2011. I think it will be least points to stay their than using RCI, plus no RCI exchange needed.

I have a TS that trades in RCI, I already have one week booked in HI for summer 2010.

To be honest there are only a small number of resorts I would consider trading my DVC point for in HI.

The Hiltons on the BI and Oahu, perhaps KBC on Maui and that's about it.

Personally I would try to do a direct trade with my DVC points with a Marriott, Starwood or Hilton owner.

I would concur overall. I would add the Wyndham resort on Oahu and would at least consider Maui Lei, KCR, the Pointe, LBR and the Bay Club. With II I would not have listed these resorts due to better choices but I think the change to RCI has altered the landscape dramatically when it comes to trading to HI for DVC members. That's especially true if you can get some of the choices for less than 7 days. Starr and I have a lot of other exchange options so our choices might be different than someone that only owns DVC. I would also suggest direct exchange options with Shell, Wyndham and BG members as well as private owners for the resorts listed and possibly even other resorts if you could do it with less points.
