Excited to be heading down to Florida next week! Just checked the extended forecast though, and it looks that several days will be rainy ones! Does anyone have any advice on how to do the parks while it rains? Or should we just skip the parks altogether if the weather doesn't cooperate? Recommendations appreciated, thanks so much!

I just got back yesterday and we did get a few showers here and there, but nothing to ruin the whole day. Nothing that lasted more than 20 minutes. They're having a weather pattern that is unusual for late fall, kind of more like summer where you get these isolated showers during the afternoons. You can get one in MK and not in AK, they're that isolated.

If is raining, run away the parks!!! This way I'll get a less crowded day!!! :teeth: :teeth:

No!!! just buy a couple of ponchos and enjoy your day, don't let the rain ruin your trip!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

AMEN! There is no such thing as a bad day in the Happiest Place on Earth, unless, you bring it with you.

Don't forget DisneyQuest and AMC Movie House

You've given me a little hope...I think I'll pack 2 ponchos if it looks like we'll need them every day.

Thanks so much for the encouragement...the movies are a good suggestion if the rain happens to be a downpour. I'm just happy to be there, whatever the weather!

Some of our best memories are during torrential downpours in WDW!! Be sure you have a few disposable ponchos with you at all times. If it showers, just put it on and keep having fun. Until you've been there in late August, with 5 hrs of steady rain, you haven't lived!!!! BTMRR in the rain....how fun is that!!

Last October the night before Wilma hit there was torrential rain. We were at MGM for Magic Hours wearing our ponchos (heavy duty purple Minnesota Vikings ones bought before we left as we expected this) and walking on the Streets of America and Mickey Avenue with water to our ankles. On the Streets of America (or is that now New York Street?) we were ALL ALONE, just me and DH. It was a kind of magic...like having the World all to yourself! We didn't see another living soul, cast member or guest, for at least 15 minutes. It really was a magic time, soggy, yes, but still magic. I never thought I'd ever see Disney like that with no people, and it is one of my favorite memories of the trip.

If it rains, we just poncho up and GO! Less sturdy folk may head indoors...we go check out the wonder of a wet WDW! ;)

I just posted about this on another board, but I'll mention it here, too. The absolutely best trip we ever had to MK was in the rain. We could walk down Main St. with our arms out and not touch a soul. No crowds. No lines. It was the best. Just be prepared. Good heavy rain ponchos and maybe a chamois cloth to wipe wet seats on the rides after the rain stops. In fact, the next day we were actually dissappointed to see the sun.... and therefore the crowds. <sigh> We enjoyed our private piece of the Kingdom while we had it though.

Bottom line.... don't worry about the rain. Go and have a blast. Just bring extra shoes and socks.

we will be are leaving tomorrow, we have the big snow stroming coming threw tonight. I have been check www.noaa.gov to see about he weather in Orlando. It does not say a lot of rain like the weather chaanel. So I WILL HOPE THAT IT DOES NOT RAIN!

Oh no, never skip the parks! They are great in sun and rain. Sure you'll get a little wet but it adds to the adventure! Grab a poncho and head on out. A few years ago I felt like I was in a monsoon at AK. Dh had gone to Disney Quest and dd and I went over to AK. We had a safari truck to ourselves, and the operator skipped the script and asked my dd her name and went from there. He would stop the truck so I could take pictures and explained so much about the animals (ie, "How much do you weigh, Dierdre (dd)? Ok a rhino is 100 Dierdre's put together." things like that). The only thing I had to do was buy new sneakers for myself so I had dry shoes. Otherwise it was great!

Have a wonderful vacation!

reort hopp its free ...animal kingdom is a must see inside ..the poly....the contemp...wilderness lodge...are all must tours...and it free to

That's why they sell ponchos. Unless it is lightning (and then you want to stay inside), enjoy the parks. Bring extra shoes along so the wet ones can dry out.
