A few questions for the experts:

What is the difference between the Inn ocean view and the studio?
    Square footage?
    Pull-out vs. two queens?
Do any Inn rooms have a queen and pull-out?

Are some studios ocean view but just not guaranteed?

Are any studios in the main building?

Which would you recommend? Inn or Studio?

Additional comments regarding differences between the Inn and studio would be greatly appreciated.

The main difference is that the studio has the pullout and the Inn room has two queen beds. I don't think there's much if any difference in size. The Inn rooms are a bit unusual in that they are different shapes with different size balconies. They follow the shape of the building. I think they're roughly the same size but can be laid out differently.

To my knowledge there is no queen/pullout combo in the Inn. I have heard of the existence of one or two king bed rooms. These could have a pullout.

Some people have reported getting studios from which they can see the ocean. You are right that these are never guaranteed by Vero.

When booking with points, a studio will be a real studio in one of the three villa buildings. I think sometimes when people book on cash with some of the specials they are sometimes given an Inn room (gardenview). They are basically the same thing.

The view from an oceanview Inn room is pretty impressive. ;)

There are 2 King bed rooms in the Inn(2415+2419) that have a pull out couch/bed combo on the top floor with a great ocean view. But you have to be lucky and have good timing to get one of those rooms.
If it is just 2 of you going I would go for the Inn room and have a very good chance of getting "direct ocean view".
