Question about TOWL

Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with vacation points or cash) may enjoy access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: the Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort through December 29, 2013 (blockout dates in 2013 are July 3 and 4, and December 30 and 31). Current operating hours are 6 p.m. to midnight.

I am thinking about December 30, 2014. So I have to assume the rules stay the same.

As far as blackout dates. Are members who are staying at BLT allowed up on rage black out dates. If I book BLT from December 27 to 29, 2014, would I be allowed up on December 30, since it would be my check out day?

If you check out on Dec 30th then you should be allowed up that day.

Thanks. I hoped so. We want to stay at BWV for most of that visit, and I may even just double up a room, for one night with DH's name on the BLT reservation. I really would like to see NYE's fireworks on the 30th from TOTW.

We would like to visit the Lounge in January while we're staying at VWL- do you think they will continue to offer this perk into 2014? Also, anyone know how late the water taxi between WL & CR runs at night? If it doesn't run at night, I guess we could take the boat to the MK and walk over- probably just as quick- wouldn't you say?

If you're going to see fireworks, I think you'll be OK. We have taken the boat in the late evening.

I've been to it around 10 times, and we usually go up around 45 minutes before fireworks.

We are new DVC'ers as well and had not heard about this! We have our first stay as DVC at AKL in Sept 2013. Does this mean we can visit the TOWL anytime during our stay?

Current access rules from DVCMember.com under 'Destinations' (drop down) > 'Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort':

Current operating hours are 6 p.m. to midnight.

This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Key to the World card displaying a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge. If the Member's Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Member ID is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership.

Note that Members traveling from other Resorts must use Walt Disney World Transportation, as parking is unavailable to anyone not staying at Bay Lake Tower or Disney's Contemporary Resort. Upon arrival, Members must walk to the Bay Lake Tower main lobby entrance on the ground floor and check in at the Top of the World Lounge desk in the lobby.

This special Top of the World Lounge access is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the lounge reaches capacity. As the lounge is particularly popular during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, arriving as early as possible will give Members the best chance of gaining admission.

Yes! Just go to BLT, present your DVC member card and KTTW card to the TOTWL check-in desk. The CM there will give you a paper that you present to the CM at the elevators.
