Question about switching ressie's

As a new member, I have read on this board that some people have made a ressie at their home resort and then at the 7 month window have called to switch to one of the other resorts. If your specific time is not available, you can be put on a waiting list, but do you have to cancel your original ressie first and then go on the wait list and hope for the best, or can you keep your original ressie while on the wait list?

You can go on the wait list without cancelling existing ressie.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear about not having to cancel. I'll keep that in mind for future ressies because I know that we will want to try all of the DVC resorts besides our home of VWL!
