Question about DVC Members staying with a cash reservation

I am not sure if this is the right spot or not so feel free to move it to the right forum..thanks for your patience!!!

Can a DVC member, who is staying on a cash reservation (room only), add the dining plan without having to purchase a 1-day ticket? I believe this is possible when staying on points, but didn't know if it works the same way when staying on cash?

If you book it through member services, it is considered a DVC reservation and no ticket purchase is required.
