A friend is thinking about going on a Disney cruise. She asked me if she were to book a cruise for 2 and then a 3rd person decide to go if she could add that person to their room and pay the extra of course. I have been to Disney World 15 times but I haven't been on a Disney cruise. My first reaction is that I don't think it would be a problem to add a person but then again the deposit requirements, cancellation policies etc. are different for DCL than WDW so I don't want to tell her the wrong thing.

I would have her add the 3rd person now. With DCL, there are other factors than just the number of people the room will hold. They also have to consider how many people the lifeboats will hold. So it is possible to have room on the ship, but be unable to add someone to that room because that lifeboat is full.

They can always remove the extra person before PIF date with no penalty. And the deposit paid for that person can be applied to remaining reservation.

Another factor to remember is that when adding a third person later, you will pay the going price at that time which is normally more $$$$.
