Purchasing drink "tokens" before sailing?

I've heard from cruisers on other lines that they were able to purchase some sort of token or coupon prior to sailing. It would be really nice to purchase some each week so it's paid for ahead of time and not such a huge chunk of change on the actual cruise! Anyone know if DCL does this and/or where to find the info about it?

Thanks!
Kristie

Never heard of such a thing on DCL. Two ways to control cost, though. For drinking in your room, you can carry on alcohol (it can't be consumed in public areas). Second, there is a drink station with a nice variety of free non-alcoholic drinks.

No, DCL does not do anything like this.

Are you referring to alcoholic drinks or nonalcoholic or both?

Most nonalcoholic beverages, including soda, are included in the cruise price depending on where you get them.

As for alcoholic drinks, you can buy a wine package in the dining rooms. But you cannot buy tokens or prepay your alcohol.

So if you were to order lets say a virgin pina colada, does anyone know approx how much that would cost.. or is that included in your nonalcoholic category?

You can find a drink menu in the FAQ thread.....it is from a few years ago but the prices have not gone up that much. It will give you an idea of how much the drinks cost.

What you can also do is just put money down on your account ahead of time. Many people do this. You can't really earmark it specifically for drinks but you can any amount of money ahead of time to be waiting in your account when you board.

You could, let's say, put $50 a month on your account leading up to your cruise and then that money would be in your onboard account.....whenever you purchase something onboard it would debit from that amount.

You can call DCL or your TA to do this or you can use the form in the link below:

The nonalcocolic drinks free on board are coke produces, milk, tea, and coffee. They are either served at your meals, or you can get them from the drink station near the entrance to the top deck buffets (Cabanas, Topsiders, Beach Blanket Buffet depending on your ship).

Any drink from the bar (and cokes delivered to your room) costs, whether it be a soda, nonalcoholic drink, or alcoholic drinks. The prices are typical, not a ripoff but not a bargain. They seem about average compared with bars/restaurants on land.

Disney adds a tip to bar orders "for your convenience" (that's Disneytalk for their convenience).

silly me

but why not just put the $$ in a jar and not touch it?
Then have it to pay the bill at cruise end . . . .

Better yet, in an interest' account? You may make one more drink in interest!

Wow, never thought of that!! Can you only do this once you've paid off your cruise fare? Thanks for the tip!

You can do this anytime....just make sure they know it is for your Onboard Account and not towards the balance of your cruise fare amount.

It costs the same as it would if it had alcohol. The free drinks are soda, tea, coffee and I think lemonade.

Hmmm...one of us was charged wrong. In our experience, virgin drinks were about $2 cheaper than the same drink with alcohol in it.

The beverage station has a variety of sodas, coffee, hot and iced tea, lemonade, hot chocolate, and milk. Fruit juices are available free from room service (as well as the above items.)

you can always buy Disney Giftcards as well you can get from your local walgreens or grocery store. and take that with you in whatever set amounts.
