Prices for Verandah Cabins

The price list for the DVC members cruise to Alaska in 2015 list several prices for cabins with verandahs on the same deck. What is the difference?

The main difference in the Category 4 and 5 staterooms is location. They charge more for staterooms that are midship than for those forward or aft. IMO, there is no reason to pay more to be midship. We have sailed in all areas and saw absolutely no difference. Every stateroom is closer to some things and farther from others.

Category 6 staterooms have a solid, white verandah wall as opposed to the clear, plexiglass wall. This means that you will not be able to see much when you are seated. Category 4a-4d are a little bigger than the lower numbers. About the width of a twin bed (many have a murphy bed that pulls down to allow 5 to sleep in the room). So those are usually the most expensive of the non-concierge rooms.

The 5s are usually based on location (5a being higher deck, mid-ship, etc).

The 6s have the whitewall verandah and the 7s have navigators (more enclosed) verandah.
