Pre-purchase Question

Hey there!

We are getting pretty close to purchasing a 2001 Jayco Heritage Laurel popup trailer. It has been extremely well maintained and it is a friend that is selling it. He is the second owner and he has had it since 2010. It has kings size beds with 4" memory foam mattresses and new covers. It also has a slide out dinette, new awning and upgraded to LED lighting. There are no stains, rips,or mold on the canvas and no physical damage to the outside or roof. It also has a cassette toilet/shower. He is asking $3500, which seems about right for the year and model.

Any issues or other concerns we should know about this model before we purchase it?

Check the age of the tires, age and condition if it has propane tanks. Not all pop ups do. And check weather seals for dry rot, cuts, etc. The only other thing would be the canvas and it's condition, which from your post seems good. Good luck and Welcome to the camping family, it's great.

Agree with Pahunter, take look at the tires and inquire about their age.

At $3500 it sounds about right on price. So long as you do not detect any mildew smells when you walk in it. Run the heater and the a/c, run the fridge on electric and gas if it does both and ensure it cools. Also, run the water heater and ensure it runs on gas and electric if that is an option.

I would say as long as these are good along with what Pa suggested then the price sounds fair to me.

Thanks for the advise. It does come with propane tanks and they are in good condition and the tires are near the ed of their life age wise, but have always been keep cover and have no cracks. We plan to replace them before our big trip this summer. We sealed the deal yesterday for $3000 and he is also going to have the scheduled PM service on the surge breaks. We are pretty excited!!!
