POTC open yesterday

We ended up at Disney yesterday totally by surprise and I was not expecting Pirates to be open yet. Maybe I just forgot but I thought it was going to be closed for another week. It was open and awesome! There was one part I was a little disappointed by. Did anyone else get to see it?

...I was not expecting Pirates to be open yet. Maybe I just forgot but I thought it was going to be closed for another week.

Many of us here have been saying for a couple of MONTHS that we expected Disney to "soft-open" MK's PoC a week earlier than the "July 7th" published date.

The reports were that the re-furb was ahead of schedule and many of us posted here that it should be open on or near July 1st weekend.

But there were posters here who staunchly refused to believe it.
They sited Disney's announcement that the MK opening would coincide with the release of the newest PoC movie on July 7th.

Even though the DL PoC had already opened... to much hoopla.

Even when Disney had pulled the "refurb announcement" from their official calendar for July 1st.

Even when it would be a benefit to Disney to have this open for the VERY BUSY 4th-of-July week.

Even when tour guests spotted memos in the "utilidors" that told CM's of a July 1st "soft open".

Its true that NOBODY can KNOW for sure until the dates arrive, but this one was just too easy to predict.

Glad it DID, in fact, open for this busy week!

Pirates has always been my favorite ride and I was hoping that they would add to it and not change much. Overall I love the changes and Cpt Jack looks so real it is spooky! I love the new entrance and the waterfall with the monster - Davy Jones is so cool. The only part I was dissapointed in was the very end where there is supposed to be so much more treasure, well it may be more but you just can't see much of it because it is in a room. I always liked the part where the treasure was all over the place and several pirates where playing in it. The new end has Cpt Jack on a chair in a room with the treasure but all of the "ground" outside the room is bare. It almost looks like they weren't done with it yet. I will say the animatronics are awesome and the likeness to the charactor is amazing. I even noticed going under one of the bridges that one of the pirates (there were two on the bridge) leaned over the bridge and appeared to be following me with his gaze staring me in the eye the whole time while leaning over the edge. It was wildy crazy and just blew me away. I was sitting on the right side of the boat.

I love the changes but want more treasure!

I thought it was pretty good as well! Never seem lines for it since pre-park hopper in 91 and 92!!! 20-30 min. wait. We waited in line one time and DH had GAC for his back because he has trouble standing so we got right in a boat the next two times...side note...Jason Kidd and his family was right behind us with a CM escorting them around the parks....cool!

Jack shows us three times in the ride...EXCELLENT animatronics. You go through a very cool "water fall" on which an image of a talking Davy Jones appears. Barbosa is now the captain in the first ship in the first scene with the ship and fort. Music from the movie is playing at the entrance and in the first scene. That's about it.

I don't disagree.
But "it may not be open when you get there" can be said about any day and any attraction in the park.

With the "press hoopla" already done at DL, I don't see a big reason to close the MK PoC for an "event" like at EE earlier this year.

But on July 7th, they MIGHT have some extra "GUEST hoopla" about the movie at the attraction.
That might be fun.

Otherwise, unless there is a "problem" (again, that can happen with any attraction, "soft open" or not) I don't see PoC not being open straight-through...

But, as you pointed out, YOU NEVER KNOW.
