We are sailing on July 21 and by the time I was able to register(1st time DCL cruiser) all cabanas where gone, no surprise there. Have any of you been lucky to get one even though they where all sold out? If so, how did you do it? Is there a waiting list? Had to give your 1st born, sacrifice the wife at CC? :rotfl2:

I've heard of people who were able to snag a Cabana rental fairly last minute by regularly checking for it - every day multiple times a day. There are cancellations, but they get snatched up again quickly almost as soon as it goes back into the inventory. So just keep watching. You can also get on an waiting list onboard at the port excursions desk.

    Enjoy your cruise!

Are you a concierge guest? Only concierge can book ahead of time online; otherwise, you can book onboard if something is open.

No, anyone can book online if there is availability, it's just the concierge guests have earlier access. Concierge guests also have conceirge cast members who, as I understand it, can put their request for the cabana into the system and as soon as the system opens for the concierge guests to book activities it automatically books the cabana.

Cruisers get access to book activities, including cabanas, online depending on how many times they've cruised. Some activities, including cabanas, are often sold out by the time the booking window opens for first timers. But cancellations occur all the time so as the pp stated, keep checking.

We were first time cruisers as well we just went on the Disney Fantasy last week and we were concierge guests so yes we did book our cabana at the 120 mark before the cruise and let me tell you they were all sold out by 130 am on the day they opened. However my husband and I didn't want to pay the entire 500 dollars for the cruise so I was actually a member of a disney forum that was a group of people who were all going on the same cruise as us. So I posted on the forum wall asking if any family would be interested in splitting the cabana the with us and we found someone. It was my my DH and 2 kids and the a husband an wife and their daughter. Our kids were around the same ago so it worked out great. We just split the cost on our on board accounts. So my advice is find a forum meet up group for the day your cruising and see if anyone is looking to split a cabana or post yourself that your looking for anyone who is willing to split it. Hope it works out.

Not true. Concierge can book them at 120 days out but anyone can book them online when their booking window opens. I am silver and when I did my online checkin at 90 days out there was still a cabana on Serenity Bay available and continued to be available for several days.

OP, check multiple times online daily. :)

Also, as mentioned, keep checking once on the ship. I considered canceling my cabana a few weeks ago midway through the cruise. The concierge was quickly able to find somebody if I decided to cancel it. We ended up keeping it, but, again, I am sure some do cancel for whatever reason.

I'm Silver CC and they were all sold out last year, I checked every day and I snagged no 17 about a week after.:) But... I had to cancel our Cruise due to my Dad taking ill 10 days before sailing date, so number 17 went back out for booking again. Cancellations do happen.

I tried to book one when my window opened at 105 days (Gold) and they were all gone. I'm pretty sure they keep #16 in reserve in case someone in concierge wants it once they board. If no one does, they offer it up to the wait list (that is how I got it on our Dream cruise).

#13 doesn't show up on the list either and I'm not sure if they do the same with that one, or if there isn't a #13. I don't remember if I saw that one or not, LOL. :rolleyes1

Definitely ask in your cruise meet board and Facebook group (if you have one) if anyone would be willing to split the cost.

Yes they definitely open up but you really have to stalk the website! I would check multiple times a day and twice I got one after they were all gone when our booking window opened. (we were silver Castaway at that time so they were always gone)
    Good luck! :goodvibes

We've had cabanas before and were pretty sad we couldn't snag one on our recent Fantasy sailing. We had 3 of us checking back no less than half dozen times a day for 87 days prior to sailing. We even considered the tackiest thing ever and offering up $1k cash to anyone willing to "sell" us their cabana. We didn't do it but we discussed it at length and really thought about it. I know! Desperation much??? We boarded the ship in boarding group 3, ran straight to Guest Services to wait list in case of a cancellation, and were told we were the first ones. Woot!!! Castaway Cay day came and it was pouring rain almost all day. The wind was super gusty. 2 of us had been sick the entire cruise while 2 had issues that started the night before. My family never left the ship that day. As we were pulling out the 3 adults from our staterooms stood on our verandah looking out at the cabanas and agreed: thank God we DIDN'T get one! Yikes! I felt bad for those who had them.

I'm on the same cruise as OP. I am a first timer too and when I logged on I saw a cabana for rent only in Serenity Bay (adult only). So it is possible. I cannot take advantage because I have a young child.

Keep checking! Someone on our cruise last month reported getting a cabana less than a week before we sailed. They snagged it online apparently because of a cancellation.

I think I remember reading your post about being sick on the same cruise as we were and let me tell you the cabana was a god send. We did not want to spend one more day on the boat bc of the rain so we sat in our cabana enjoyed our snacks and beverages and let the kids build sand castles in the rain. They loved it plus the rain let up w 2 hours left in castaway cay and since we were still in the cabanas went straight to our private beach and swam and played and had a great time all thanks to our cabana.

    Yep, that was me! ;)

If I hadn't been sick I prob'ly still would've wished we'd had a cabana. We've had them both on SB & the family beach. Soooo nice! I think if there's a way to make a rainy CC day completely do-able with ease it would be with the cabanas. It did let up right there at the end of the day. If we hadn't been feeling so beat we would've at least taken a walk. My brother & his girls who had never been did actually go out in the wind & rain midday to snorkel. I'm pretty sure they were the only ones there at the time. LOL!

What is the approximate size of the Cabanas? They are very $$ for the day but sound nice.

There will be 10 of us, would we all fit ? (first timer Disney cruising so maybe wouldn't get one anyway).
    Thanks!

    Take a look at this video . . . http://youtu.be/6SdnRnM9xe4

I haven't been in one yet (will be in a few weeks), but it looks like there are multiple areas and plenty of seating. And I know for our group of 8, we probably won't be all in the cabana at the same time.
