Pop Warner worries were for naught

I was a bit nervous that we'd be inconvenienced by all the Pop Warner kids since our dates were the same as theirs and we were staying at the All Star resorts. However, we had zero problems with them. We saw the football players and cheerleaders at the resort, in the food court, and on the buses. Honestly, they seemed better behaved than many of the families we ran into. They seemed to be well supervised as each group we saw had 1 to 3 adults with them. We did not witness any rude behavior, line cutting, or late night shenanigans from these groups.

We where worried about Pop Waner Kids in the parks! We thought they where very well behaved!
We actually chated with many of the parents on our trip all very nice people.

With all of these reports of good behavior, is it possible Disney has come down on them some? Or do you think the colder weather inhibited any wildness that people have seen in the past?

We have been there at the same time as pop warner week and never had any trouble with the kids either. we also were staying at one of the all star resorts with them. the cafeteria was definatly more busy than usual and the bus line may have been a bit longer but all and all we had no trouble.

I think both. At the All Star Music the security guards were quite visible. Plus, you know how kids don't want to put on pants, let alone a coat. They didn't seem to want to hang around outside much.

Though we weren't staying in the same resorts as the Pop Warner kids, we had NO bad experiences in the park involving them whatsoever! Most of the kids were very well behaved and seemed to be well chaperoned while they were in the parks. We encountered some cheerleaders that were chanting as they walked by, but that was truly the the only behavior that might be considered to be annoying to some. All in all, I think they went unnoticed except for the large numbers of them wearing their team tshirts and jerseys.

I forgot all about them... until we were at Sea World and they attempted at various shows to start cheers. They were quickly shot down however.

Agree... no problems. It was nice to see the large groups in the parks having fun! I'm just glad I never had to help chaperone such large groups.... seems like a lot of work just to coordinate everyone getting to places. Didn't seem them on the buses at all though... maybe they had their own buses.

My understanding is that after years of complaints - culminating in a LOT of complaints last year - that in fact Disney did put on extra security and held folks far more accountable than in years past.

Seems like maybe it worked? :)

Hooray Disney!

I read that either last year or the year before there was a big brawl at one of the resorts that resulted in several people, maybe the entire team being escorted off WDW property.

I would think that that kind of thing would finally open the eyes of the WDW execs to the fact that the Pop Warner folks are not the best for business.

My daughter participated in Pop Warner this year and we stayed at POR, so can't comment on POP. This was our first time and based on comments on the boards I was expecting the worst. The girls had a strict 10PM curfew and an 8PM curfew prior to competing. Even though we received a note from Pop Warner - the curfews were enforced by parents and coaches - not Pop Warner or Disney.

We went to the parks in groups, but parents were always present as well. I saw very few football players at the resort or parks - so I can't comment on the boy's behavior.

Our girls wore their team warm-ups at the parks and we had some great conversations with people who were interested and had no idea Pop Warner had taken over ESPN.

I think what you saw was parent and coaches acting responsibly and considerate; I will say that bad behavior from both parents and children are by no means confined to Pop Warner participants . . .

It's possible though that the coaches were told if there were complaints, their teams wouldn't be invited back, and that THAT directive came from Disney.

Yes - I'm sure that there was some persuasive and legitimate consequences to bad behavior. Please don't take my comment as being defensive, in all my trips down over the years I've come to the conclusion that Disney can bring out the worst in behavior from all ages and people.

I thought the whole experience (except the weather) was amazing, I was able to see my daughter complete something very special and got my Disney fix.

we were there at the beginning when they just started to arrive. (Dec 1, 2 & 3) We stayed at POR.

I thinks its 50-50. Maybe Disney did finally tell these people at check in to be respectful of their guest and I do think the weather played a big part. No outside partying going on.

I also think the staff at POR went out of their way to make sure they kept all the POP people together for the most part and let them be loud and disrespectful to each other.

I always said in my bad experiences with POP Warner crowds....the parents were worst than the kids.

I was at the All Star Music Resort Dec. 1-7th and was worried about noise based on reports I heard on this forum from past years but I was pleasantly surprised. We had no problems what so ever in the parks or the resorts. I even forgot about them when we were there. I wouldn't have even known they were there had I not heard about it beforehand. actually I wish I didn't know because I worried for weeks about it before we left since I can't sleep with any noise.

The only thing that surprised me was that there were a lot more people in the parks than I had heard about for the first week of December but I don't know if that was due to POP Warner or not. It seemed like more families not groups of teenagers so I don't know. Regardless we had a wonderful trip except for the cold but if the cold kept the noise down then that is fine with me. I was certainly too cold to stay outside at the resort. We went right in to the room.

We didn't use the buses since I had to end up renting a scooter due to a last minute foot injury so that made the trip much better too in my opinion. The buses are the noisiest and most inconvenient part of the trip in my opinion when you have to wait in line for them. I definitely preferred the rental car. We returned to the rooms in peace and quiet at the end of the day!!! Also we traveled with a noise system that I used on both sides of the bed in the resort - it was so easy to hook up - it is basically two small speakers and a controller that you use to turn it on and adjust the volume. It puts out white noise and that helped tune everything out for me which I LOVED!!!!
