So after the Poop Bandit cut our swim time short, we walked around the Poly grounds and took in some wildlife:
babies:
Momma:
You might not be able to make out this picture very well, but it is 2 lizards on a rock and they are, um...making love? Actually, they were going at it pretty hot and heavy! There should have been some bow chicka bow wow music playing in the background. Mike and I were cracking up! In fact, I think the lizard on top, I assume he was the male, had his hand in the air at one point like he was ridin' um cowboy!!! (Yes, we are immature!!)
So after the lizard porn, we headed to Captain Cook's for a snack. We had a 6:00pm ADR at Flying Fish Cafe at the Boardwalk tonight and we were going to go back to DHS for EMHs. While we were eating our Mickey head rice krispy treats we decided to see if we could get into Ohana or Kona for dinner instead. I ran upstairs and Kona only had a 20 min wait so we took it and ran back to the room to change. Well, our buzzer went off as soon as we got to the room so we hurried, got dressed and made our way back to Kona. Of course, since they had called us and we didn't show, we were put at the end of the list again. This was about 5:30pm. So we waited...and waited...and waited. We walked over to Somoa Snacks where Emily found this with the help or push or incouragement of Mike ( I think he wanted her to have it more than she wanted it):
I thought we were going to have to buy an extra suitcase just for Mickey!
Finally, after asking about our ressie for the 3rd time, we were seated at 7:15pm. I think they had deleted us and didn't add us back to the list when we missed our first buzz because the hostess went and talked to the table assigner and low and behold, we were seated immediately. Well, good bye DHS EMHs at this point. We decided to enjoy the night and we'd go back on Saturday.
OK, so you want to see the food, do you?
Let's start with the yummy and soft and delicious and....
as you can see, Mickey dined with us tonight!
Mike's appetizer was the
Lump Crab Cakes - with Asian tartar and pineapple relish
I'm not a fan of crab cakes, but these were delicious! Mike said they were definitely the best he had ever had. OK, he says that a lot!
I had sushi from the Kona Sushi Bar. It was the
California Luau Roll - fresh jumbo lump crab, pineapple, and avocado
Mmmmmmm! I could eat that again right now! It was so fresh! The rice was perfectly sticky. I'm drooling thinking about it!
For an entree, Mike ordered the
Tuna Oscar - Served with fried green tomatoes, tempura-fried jumbo lump crab, and wasabi hollandaise
Again, YUM!! Mike loved this meal, then again, I don't think we usually have a meal that we don't love!!
I'm not a tuna eater, but this was scrumptious!
I enjoyed the
Pan-Asian Noodles - Asian egg noodles with sliced chicken, pineapple, seasonal vegetables, and a House-made sweet-and-sour sauce
Again, Kona won me over! The noodles were excellent and perfectly sweet and sour, but not too sweet or sour!!
On to the desserts:
I think Mike had
Coconut Cream Kiki Tart
I had the
Kona Kone
Emily and I really liked this! I love ice cream!! Emily and Mike ate the cotton candy. I'm not a fan, too sugary!
Our service was excellent this evening and we LOVED Kona. We will definitely be eating here again. Everything was moutwatering! We rate Kona
