Place to eat outside the parks easy to get to from POR?

We are traveling with my family ( of myself, DH, and 4 teen girls) plus my 81 yr old mother-in-law and her sister. The older folks will not have park tickets for everyday, but we want to meet them for at least one meal a day (they will read and enjoy the resort during the day). One day we plan to start at the Magic Kingdom and end at Hollywood Studios. Our resort is Port Orleans. I'm looking for suggestions on a restaurant that would be easy for my MIL to get to. I like the monorail resorts/restaurants, but I'm afraid that might be confusing for her to get to (from the POR bus..) All suggestions are welcome! Disney Springs might work (there is a boat going directly there)...

That said, from either the boat dock or the bus stop, Disney Springs requires quite a bit of walking. How is your MIL at walking?

Why not Boatwrights? I'm eating there for the first time my next trip. The menu looks amazing and it seems to be getting good reviews as of late.

I was going to suggest a cab also. It is not a lot of money around the resort - we have done it several times. Especially in the heat. We love the Whispering Canyon Café at the WL. They could take a cab there or take a bus to MK and then the boat to WL. The food is great and the place is so much fun. Especially if you get Paul.

1900 PF is good. We also love Ohana and Kona. Again they can take a boat from MK.

Make a reservation for a table service at BC, YC, or BWI. MIL takes a taxi to whichever resort waits in lobby. You boat or walk over from HS, meet her in lobby and walk with her to restaurant. Either taxi or bus back to resort (will have to transfer at a park).

If you guys do AK, then she could take the bus there and there is a Rainforest Cafe right by the gate she doesn't Need a ticket to enter as it's technically outside. This IMO would be the "easist" from getting from A to B, with less Walking and all it takes is getting on the right bus ( AK ) and the Rainforest Cafe is right there in the left.

Or, if you guys like BOMA, have her meet you guys at AK right outside.. Maybe have her wait at the RFC ( they have seating to wait and AC) and pick her up there and take bus back to AKL to Boma.. though I would recommend generally speaking cabbing it back to POR.. We did the bus via DTD and that was Hell... ending up taking a bus trip for over 1 hr as the boat lines were too Long.

Or I would do a test run with her Dong the Monorail... Do the first MK trip with her and Show her how to get from the buses to the monorail.. you cannot go wrong once she is on the monrail as it just Loops ( dont get off to avoid TTC line to Epcot).. all Monorail Resorts are great to meet up with People. She can go at her own pace and if Need be simply sit in a Relaxing and cool Lobby and wait for you guys to find her and then find which ever Restaurant.. The only confusing Resort would be maybe the Contemporary as there is the main check-in Lobby downstairs but then many concourses and convention floors.. This might confuse here. but Poly and GF have one main Lobby with no hidden things (unless she gets "lost" in a shop)

Me personally wouldnt sent my mom alone to DTD on the boat... my mom gets dizzy and the boat ride ( getting on and off) might throw her off. Also it is HUGE.... but there are places to sit and if too hot she can shop hop to cool off. Plus if you do DTD make sure you guys know which dock the boat Comes on and plan.. if you have a Meeting Point at one end and the dock an another it's 1. too far " too confusing

I find taking the boat to DTD and finding the Restaurant is more confusing than taking the MK bus and taking the ramp right before the entrance to the monorail and getting off a monorail Resort ..

Just thinking. I think at her Age, she would really enjoy sitting in the GF listening to the afternoon Music.... Just the place for the older gals. She can get a coffee in the cafe etc.... your teen Girls might get a kick out of the 1900 Park Fare cinderella and her step sisters buffet dinner. pricey , might be booked for july already.

I understand your concern about having the elder ladies navigate the bus, boat monorail hopping that resort dining requires. Seeing as it is you, DH and 4 teens, would it be possible for one of you to leave the park a little early to go and get the ladies and escort them to the resort restaurants?

This sounds great! I'll have to look into it.

I think this is what we will probably end up doing. We will play it by ear and see how comfortable she is with getting around when she goes to our first ADR with us.
