Peekaboo, I see Pluto! A 1st Birthday TR; Wrapping up PTR and TR 10/02!

Fantastic presentation of Wishes!!! (which I haven't really ever seen)

But the pictures and the narration really made me understand what is so wonderful about the show!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! :thumbsup2

Awesome Wishes chapter! :thumbsup2 And Frank-a-lin, you have once again out done yourself!!! I thought your October wishes pictures were unbeatable, but you managed to top yourself with these :goodvibes

Thanks Kel! :goodvibes

Repeat after me:

I, Dee, will promise to make some time for myself on my next trip so I can finally see Wishes. :lmao:

It will be so worth it. The setting, the fireworks and the music are just such a perfect combination. Actually, any time I have an especially long night at work, I've found myself turning on the Wishes music on my drive home and it instantly uplifts me.

Gah!!!! I died when I was looking at those pictures. So absolutely beautiful. :thumbsup2

Thank you! Franklin does such a wonderful job of capturing the moment. :cloud9:

Congratulations on creating the first DIS post I've ever read to give me serious CHILL BUMPS!! And maybe a little sniffle. ;) So amazing!

 Chik-Fil-A! I just may have to have that for lunch today. ;) Their banana pudding milkshakes are so good! Can't wait to read about 'Ohana since I'm excited to try it for the first time in Oct.!

I don't even know what to say anymore, Franklin! Amazing!

I was trying a new technique to capture fireworks this trip. It took some fumbling around with the settings on the camera but everything turned out great. I'm happy everyone enjoys them!

Mind if I ask what the new technique was? I understand if you don't want to give away trade secrets ;)

The new technique I tried for this trip was to use a neutral density filter. It's basically like sunglasses for the camera. The light the camera sees is reduced by 3 stops (or 8 times less light). The general idea for this was to reduce the intensity of the fireworks and make their colors more saturated. The downside is that there is a need for longer exposures, around 10 seconds.

So which density did you use? ND8? That's one filter I don't have, always meant to get one though. After seeing your fireworks I think I'm going to have to secure one before my own trip!

I used a Neutral Density 0.9 filter, or 3 stops darker. Once you use one you won't go without it!

We last left off with a wonderful evening of Magic Kingdom entertainment. We were up bright and early the next day, it was our last full day of our trip and we had big plans!

There was a bit of a theme to the boys’ outfits that morning.

DSC1858-L.jpg

There was a reason we were up early -- DHS has been opening its gates about a half-hour before its posted opening time.
So with a 9 a.m. opening scheduled, I wanted to be at the park by 8:30.

Who’s ready for another day of Disney fun?

DSC1890-L.jpg

I am! I am Auntie Missy!

Excellent! Now here’s a tip, if you ever get to DHS by car and see the main bag check lines looking like this:

DSC1895-L.jpg

There’s a hidden bag check to the left of the guest relations windows. And on this fine morning, there was no one else in line!

DSC1893-L.jpg

How did we do? We were parked and in the park at 8:37, not too shabby!

Now, you Disney veterans know there is exactly one reason for early arrival at DHS, it was time for a TSM dash. The plan was for Franklin to run ahead and grab FPs while I led the rest of the group back to Pixar Place in a more leisurely (yet still fairly brisk) pace. Kotkham was scootering along next to me and Keith and Lala were pushing the stroller behind us. At least they were until we were about to make the right. I turned around to show them where we were going and they were gone. I scanned around the hub in front of the hat and saw this.

Yep, in the middle of the TSM dash, my group had stopped for a Piglet meet and greet. Sigh, just take whatever is left of my Disney commando card now.

After we rounded up the troops, we met Franklin here.

DSC1898-L.jpg

For those playing the planning game at home, it was just before 9 and FPs were already for two hours in the future.

DSC1897-L.jpg

We parked Kotkham and the stroller over in the shade while the kids went for a spin.

This has to be the best-themed queue in all of Disney World.

I love the talking Mr. Potato Head. Tanner was a bit more leery, maybe it was the weird eyes.

DSC1923-L.jpg

The queue with the oversized toys was a big hit with the 1-year-old in our group. He loved everything!

DSC1926-L.jpg

It only took about 15 minutes to get through the line.

DSC1933-L.jpg

Time to play!

As many of you who have read my past trip reports know, I have never beat Franklin at TSM. I’ve won at Buzz Lightyear but NEVER at TSM.

So did I finally snap my winless streak?
DSC1936-L.jpg

Uh, no. Not even close. I’m vowing to learn new Easter Eggs for October and not sharing the knowledge with Franklin.

DSC1951-L.jpg

This lovely billboard greeted us as we met back up with Kotkham.

DSC1954-L.jpg

Can I just say how surprised I was that Disney didn’t seem to capitalize on the very popular new Muppets movie in the parks. I thought they would beef up the Muppets attraction or maybe add a meet and greet or something. Anyway, we were ready to cruise...

DSC1964-L.jpg

… but where would we head next? Any guesses? We’ve only just begun with the Hollywood fun, stay tuned for more!

I did not know that about the bag check line!!!

Filing away that important little tidbit! :goodvibes

Too funny about the Piglet meet & greet!!! It doesn't sound like it had much of an impact, though.

Question about the TSM entrance. Has that spool of kite string always been there? I have never noticed it!

This afternoon, Ben led a game of "What is the best ride/restaurant/resort/queue/memory-catch phrase etc." at each park. The boy is going through serious Disney withdrawal and is lobbying hard for a trip this year. He is very jealous of Nate's trip.

The TSM queue really is the best one on property.

Very cute family pictures, especially the one in the TSM ride vehicle.

Not sure where you are headed next, but I'm going to go with Star Tours.

I love the Star Wars shirt theme! Very DHS appropriate.

TSM always amazes me with having FP's running out so quickly. I wonder, where do they all go? :lmao:

Just keep on learning those easter eggs girlie, and you will get there. Say it with me "I.....will.......get there!"

Traveling, so just now catching up on your TR. Kudos to Franklin for the Wishes shots!

Thanks for the DH tip, and looks like your gang got a great start to the morning. And, you can't blame people for wanting to see Piglet :thumbsup2 ;)

We learned about that bag check because we took a cab from MK to DHS in 2010 and that side was where the taxi drop-off was located.
So we've managed to use that bag check every time we've visited since then!

IToo funny about the Piglet meet & greet!!! It doesn't sound like it had much of an impact, though.

Our plan worked, even delayed by a few minutes. We still got our rides on TSM in. :thumbsup2

IQuestion about the TSM entrance. Has that spool of kite string always been there? I have never noticed it!

I think it has always been there. I tried looking through our past trip galleries but I couldn't find another shot of the TSM entrance. But I feel like I've seen that before.

Awww, poor Ben. I see a long-weekend trip to Disney in your near future. :goodvibes

Thanks! It wasn't until I read Marissa's TR that I saw the floor of the TSM queue is Candy Land-themed, so cute!

Oh my gosh... Toy Story Mania and Piglet. I'm in heaven right now. :cool1:

I know, such fun!!!

I love the Star Wars shirt theme! Very DHS appropriate.

TSM always amazes me with having FP's running out so quickly. I wonder, where do they all go? :lmao:

I know, right? The TSM FP conundrum is made all the more peculiar when looking at TSM at Disneyland. There's rarely a wait of more than a half-hour for TSM on the West Coast, and yet, at WDW you can hardly ever wait LESS than a half-hour for the ride. :confused3

I think it boils down to there aren't enough family-friendly rides at DHS and so TSM bears the brunt of the family priorities. And so, until DHS adds more attractions, riding TSM will require military-like precision planning. :lmao:

Just keep on learning those easter eggs girlie, and you will get there. Say it with me "I.....will.......get there!"

I will get there! I'm seriously on the hunt for Easter Eggs now. Enough is enough, it's time for me to win!

Thanks for checking back in during your travels! Did you get to go anywhere fun?

Piglet is awfully cute, so I totally give them a pass on that. :goodvibes

The Star Wars shirts are too cute. I love the TSM queue, I can just imagine a one year old would be pretty amazed in there!

Definitely look up info on the TSMM easter eggs... but, you may HAVE to let Franklin in on them, cause for many of them you need to work together :rolleyes1

I was SO bummed that there wasn't more Muppet fanfare at DHS after the movie came out. I was hoping to fins some Muppet stuff for Halloween costumes, and the only things that seemed new were stocking hats. It was 90 out! Uh, no thanks! :rotfl:
