Paper or Plastic tickets?

We haven't been since 2011...have they ever upgraded to plastic tickets? I hate how worn out the paper ones get after a few days!

I think most tickets are still paper-like. In mid-November, my group all had paper-like tickets. I think all of the AP are plastic (I know Deluxe and Premier are, so I'm assuming the others are as well).

We've had plastic tickets from Costco in the past. I'm trying to remember the circumstances-- but I think we got them from a Costco package (hotel + tickets). And/or it was the last Costco ticket promo in 2012.

And now that I write that I think we got plastic a couple years earlier when booking package direct with WDTC?

Each time it was a welcome kit with plastic tickets ready for the gate. So we were not buying E-tickets. I think Costco just hands off to WDTC... so my thinking is anytime you book a package with them it might get you plastic? I don't know about AAA and all the others. We haven't done a package in a while, a la carte has been better for us since then.

Direct from Disney, it's still paper. Only the APs they distribute are plastic. Even if you stay at a Disney hotel, you can't get the tickets put on your plastic key card. One of these day they'll come up to date. My fear is that when they do, FP+ will come with it.

I also think you're more likely to get some type of plastic ticket if you purchase a package. I know one person in our group bought their tickets from the ticket booth at DLR and one was definitely paper-like. I want to say the other individuals bought their tickets from AAA, but I think they might have been vouchers that they exchanged at the turnstiles (which also issues paper-like tickets). So perhaps, if you have to exchange a voucher for the actual tickets, then it'll be paper-like. Did the packages from Costco or WDTC come with vouchers or actual tickets?

For packages we got a welcome kit via Fedex or UPS. Costco did luggage tags, pins, lanyards, etc. WDTC sent the free planning DVD. I'm sure that all varies. They definitely had tickets, not vouchers or E-tickets. The kids still have the plastic ones in their rooms.

I would guess travel agents book through WDTC, so maybe another idea? I wouldn't want to pay up much for them, but plastic tickets are pretty nice.

ETA: this was all before they dropped the 6-day parkhopper and started taking pictures to crack down on renting. Maybe it's changed to vouchers now?

I booked through the Disneyland website last year and got plastic tickets along with our hotel keys. This year we booked the Dapper Day rate and got paper tickets.

The only time I've had plastic tickets/cards was when I booked through Costco Travel.

I wonder if the Disney store tickets have the bonus MM?

I would rather a plastic ticket to paper, but hey you get what you get. I'll have to go check out my store tomorrow since I'm off work.

when we went in 2013 we booked a package through the WDTC and received plastic tickets, we just ordered our tickets from airmiles and they were paper tickets.

I bought my tickets at the Disney Store and they are plastic. As long as they are 3 day or more park hoppers then they have Magic Morning.

I've received plastic tickets every time we've gone in the past 5 years, but we've always purchased a package deal (hotel & 5-day park hopper tickets) through a travel agent.

We were offered a rare Free Dining pin code in 2011 through Disneyland. We stayed at Paradise Pier and the kit they sent us had plastic tickets. Maybe b/c they knew the dining voucher booklets were going to be such a pain to carry around:teeth:

Yeah most Disney stores do not sell Disneyland tickets anymore except some California stores. That changed I believe last year

In the past I've always bought a package direct from Disney. And I've only ever received plastic cards, never paper.

I just booked my package two days ago (5-day PH and resort hotel) and confirmed with a Disney rep that they will be the plastic cards.

It's ridiculous, but even the 10 day tickets that Aussies can buy are still paper. Can you imagine how well a flimsy bit of cardboard fares after 10 days, especially with Fastpass?
