I have never heard this. Even the Disney ponchos are opaque, not clear. Just read the regulations right on the wdw site and nowhere in it were ponchos even mentioned.Don't all the ponchos have to be see-thru now? The old ones (gosh, remember that see of yellow on rainy days in the parks - LOL!) wouldn't be allowed now, I think. I grabbed the $1 ones from the dollar store, and even though they looked white in their little bags, they are see-thru. And amazingly, we didn't need them even once! Fabulous!

I got mine at Walmart but they were 4-5$ each. Nothing at all for a buck.Walmart camping section. they are like $1.00.
We took blue ones in January and a whole lot of people had opaque colored ponchos-red, blue, yellow, green, purpleReally? We've always taken big red and blue ponchos and just kept them in a drawstring backpack until we needed them. This is the first I've heard of them needing to be see-through.

we bought these two years ago for our daughters' camp. They have been to disney as well. They easily fit back into the bag and I think we clipped the bag to a backpack.

There is no rule that they are not allowed. Disney now sells the "opaque" ponchos, since nobody could tell their family members apart from strangers when everyone was a sea of yellow. However, there is no rule about what color ponchos anybody else can bring in.
