I picked up the idea from the cruise board, but used it on land first. It was a godsend when we stayed a week at the All Stars. Mine is ready to go on the cruise in 12 weeks! 
I saw a post recently about a mesh version of this sort of thing for the shower. I saw it for $2 at the Dollar General and I'm buying it tomorrow.
It has about 9 pockets and you hang it from the inside of the shower curtain.
The "wet" stuff stays there...in the shower. The original poster said she laundered it and packed it away for next time.
