My DS is 10 & has always had anger & other issues and in the past yr., we've taken steps to help him. He's seeing a play therapist, and now a psychologist who is prescribing meds to treat him (Intuniv, Concerta and now introducing Zoloft, which could wean him from the Intuniv). He is resisting Zoloft saying he is not depressed, and I'm looking to find support group or website with other parents or medical professionals to ask questions. DS passed the gifted testing at school last year, and that along w/ meds in past 4 months is having a positive effect. Need help convincing DS that this new med is beneficial to the overall plan...

Please share any support websites or advice that may be beneficial. Thanks!

By your brief description you shile has likly never recieved a proper diagnosis and you are just dealing with comorbid manefestations.

Med can help in the short term but if they just mask the core reason for the difficulties as best you are committing him to a lifetime of meds with serious side effects.

If meds are short term bridge to manage accute behaviors and manefestations while you find out the deeper issues and get him the help he needs in those areas then you child has excellent prospects for the future.
