Hi, I am thinking of doing a little adults only getaway this summer, we are several hours away from AC and I am finding great deals on AC hotels for this summer. I am seeing Ballys, Caesars, Tropicana, but i don;t which one to pick!
Any recommendations? My Dis friends always seem to know;)

DH and I have stayed a few times at Ballys and loved it but don't let them give you a room in the claridge or dennis towers. Those rooms are older and not well taken care of. Besure to take a look at the shower head to make sure it is clean and the bed sheets. If you have any complaints about the room be sure to tell the front desk and they will not hesitate to upgrade you.

We love the Chelsea. It's a non casino hotel between Tropicana and Hilton. We've gotten great prices during the off season months so I don't know what prices for the summer are like. Great outside bar and pool area.

Ditto on the Chelsea very cool and retro and you just walk across the street to the Tropicana.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have never been before. Any recommendations for restaurants? Or shows? Do I need to buy tix in advacne?

Out of the hotels you listed Caesar's is the nicest. These are hotels directly on the boardwalk, so they are in the center of the city with easy access to the boardwalk and shopping (Atlantic City outlets) Do yourself a favor and skip the Tropicana. It is rundown, and they have had issues with bedbugs, they do have some nice restaurants, though. Borgata and Harrah's are on the marina, both are very nice. The rooms at Harrah's are all new and gorgeous, and they have a great new pool area. ...but...they are a bit off the beaten path. If you want to go to the boardwalk you will need a cab

I'm going to be at Harrah's the second week of June. I've never been before, but the rooms are supposed to be nice (we are on a charter so we did not pick the hotel, we always stay at Harrah's properties so I know that they have acceptable accomedations). There is a free shuttle between the three Harrah's properties (Ceasars, Ballys, Harrahs). I've been trying to do some research, but AC does not have the super duper Disboard equivelant...:rotfl:

Hey, what's the weather like in early June?

Harrah's is my favorite one to stay at. I love the pool. It is in the marina, but when you stay at the four Harrah's properties...Harrah's, Caesar's, Bally's and Show Boat, you can ride the shuttle between all four. If you're only a Gold Card member, be sure you bring that little slip of paper they give you when you check in, otherwise you can't get on the shuttle. We always hop on the shuttle and go over to Caesar's and do the outlets. We also like to go over to the Pier Shops at Caesars, go up to the third floor and sit in the adirondack chairs, with our feet in the sand, and just look out over the beach and ocean. There's also a Rain Forest Cafe right near Caesar' on the boardwalk.

There are also jitneys (little buses) that stop near just about every hotel. The last time we rode that it cost $2.25 pp. Sometimes the free shuttles take forever to come, so we hop on a jitney instead of waiting.

The weather in early June is usually pretty nice, highs in the low 80s.

Caesars, Borgata, or The Chelsea are great hotels to stay at in AC. If you want to eat well, go to one of the Starr restaurants - either Buddakan or The Continental in Ceaears, or Chelsea Prime in The Chelsea. Have fun!

I forgot about the Showboat being a HET property.

We're going to do the Boardwalk, the outlets, we may go over to the lighthouse or on one of the boat trips. (can you tell I'm NOT the gambler in the group LOL)

We spent last weekend at Bally's Friday night and Caesar's Saturday night. At Bally's, we were in Dennis Tower. ArielRae, they've renovated. Our room was very nice, though we didn't have much of a view. Our room at Caesar's was far nicer, but it was in Centurion Tower so you really can't compare the two. They just announced a multi-million dollar makeover for Claridge Tower, but it won't be done until 2011. The "cheap" rooms at Caesar's are in Temple Tower and the one we stayed in a few months ago was very nice.

We like Caesar's and Bally's location. It is in the center of the Boardwalk. Caesar's is attached by skybridge to The Pier shopping mall. It is a short walk to The Walk outlet stores. Caesar's, Wild West and Bally's are all attached indoors which comes in handy in bad weather.

If you need AC info, the best site I know of is here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g29750-i78-Atlantic_City_New_Jersey.html
You'll find me there as disneysteve, also.
