I don't know if this is old news to some but I was just made aware of the possible dangers of polycarbonate containers that contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) from a story I saw a couple weeks ago on the Today show. I kind of brushed it off but then started doing more research. Here are a couple articles about it: http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2008Mar14/0,4670,ParentingGlassBottles,00.html

In summary nobody can say conclusively whether it is dangerous or not but I'd rather not use products for my kids that contain BPA.

I called Gerber because my son only uses one kind of sippy cup (pictured below) and it was labeled with a 7 on the bottom. Sure enough it is made from Polycarbonate that contains BPA. They are sending me a shipping label to send them all back and vouchers for new ones. Just thought I'd let others kinow that they are willing to replace them. Hope this helps someone else.

ESHH how scary gerber has always been very good to us. Glad they are giving you vouchers for new ones. BTW what a cutie !

We switched out DS's bottles last year to BPA free and now that he is learning the sippie cup, this website has done comparisons of current BPA free cups. http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2007/05/sippy-cup-showdown-safer-bpa-free-sippy.html Lord knows I have tried them all and finally settled on the ones DS likes best...the Born Free's.

There is also quite an extensive thread here on the Dis Family Board about BPA from the believers and non believers. I know this website and others has shown up on that thread if you are looking to ensure your family to be free of BPA products.

Thanks for the link. I spend most of my time over on the DCL board so I missed the discussion here. Glad to know I'm not the only one concerned.
